Donald J. Sobol, who wrote the Encyclopedia Brown books, had another series I loved as a kid, Two-Minute Mysteries, featuring Detective Haledjian.

I did, however, read Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency and the two (I think) sequels, as well as the Cormoran Strike series (and i still have the newest to read), written by the pseudonymous Robert Galbraith.
