Once home, I watched episode five of the Georges Simenon Mysteries. Very sad episode with a superb performance by the wonderful Line Renaud. VERY different than the book wherein Ms. Renaud's character is a man. I suspect much of it was changed to make it modern. There was a film of this back starring Jean Gabin and someone named Brigitte Bardot, called Love Is My Profession. I may own it on DVD - can't remember, but I suspect it's online somewhere. Interestingly, episode five had an entirely different creative team.
