I don't follow sports, but I thought this was funny: (WI Green Bay) Packers fans versus (PA Philadelphia) Eagles fans:

Amazon just delivered Herod the Great, the latest book from Zora Neale Hurston. She’s been dead for more than 60 years, but she’s had four new books in the last seven or eight years.

And these have never been published before?  That's pretty cool.

Very pleased that the boiling water approach worked for both Jrand and Singdaw. A plumber once told me to run hot water down the kitchen drain weekly to keep grease at bay. I don’t remember to do it that often, but I do think it’s a good idea to do it regularly. And not just in the kitchen. My tub needs it, too.

No news from me on the fire front, but tens of thousands of people here have suddenly found themselves homeless and not all are well off. Even small donations help. The California Fire Foundation or any of the organizations who do disaster relief work. World Central Kitchen is here, too. Much appreciated.

Well, this is cool...someone just posted a complete audio of the original production of The Sound of Music on YouTube!

The Sound of Music (October 8 1961) Full Show: Mary Martin, Theodore Bikel & Original Broadway Cast

Here's the first paragraph in the description:

Vincent J. Donehue was the director for the original 1959 Broadway production of Sound of Music. The show was the final Broadway collaboration between Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, and starred Mary Martin, Theodore Bikel, Patricia Neway, Marion Marlowe, Lauri Peters, Brian Davies, and many others. Joe Layton did the dances.

And it sounds amazing! :)

Enjoying this.
Thank you, George!

A friend of mine, (and Rodzinski’s), is directing a community theater production of The Sound Of Music.

48 people showed up for the first audition.

Only 3 men, and all 3 wanted the role of Max.

If anyone else has been interested in the question of whether the actress Beulah Bondi is related to the incoming Attorney General Pam Bondi:

It looks like she might not be, since Beulah Bondi's real name is Beulah Bondy.

Might she be relative of NY Daily News (or Post, I forget) columnist Filip Bondy?

Nothing coming up for that on Google.  But an interesting (to me) question.

Classic auditions for that place! Every 100 people that came out, five were guys and were never the right age.

Step 1: Have auditions and cast your female roles.
Step 2: Hit everyone you know up to see if they know any guys who want to be in a show.
