I was trying to post a picture last and then suddenly the internet was gone

That explains the missing photo.

I was up early because we got ourselves yet another dusting last night, just enough that if I didn't blow it off the driveway this morning it would be pressed down into a sheet of ice. So, out with the leaf blower first thing, and it did the trick. I hated making noise at seven in the a.m. but we can't function with 500 linear feet of slippery sh!t.

I'm sure under the circumstances your neighbors will understand.

If I understand the 95-year copyright rule, anything first published in 1929 is in public domain for the U.S. as of Jan. 1 2025.

Interesting.  A few weeks ago I was surprised to read that Ray Bradbury's books were in the public domain.

Is there a source for the LA fires that lets you know if certain addresses in the city are in danger area......

Keith downloaded an app called Duty Watch on his phone to help us track the fires.

DR JOHN G my ignorance is showing.....I am uneducated enough to not even know about your link.
Indiana you know.

I first saw that version in Louisville, so you can't take a Hoosier stance.

For Show Boat - do they have to use the "N" word in the opening song? Because all the revisions to that lyric came later.

I don't think they do, but I don't know if that change is in the public domain. Good question.

Joan Plowright has died. She was wonderful in Enchanted April.

The Aldous Huxley version of Pride and Prejudice is the one with Green Garson and Laurence Olivier. It turns Austen's magnificent heartfelt prose into almost a bubble-headed screwball comedy.

And Plowright was married to Olivier, so it all comes full circle.

Except I have been thinking it is Thursday all day and the tv listings are mixed up.

I finally realized that it is NOT the tv listings.

The Aldous Huxley version of Pride and Prejudice is the one with Green Garson and Laurence Olivier. It turns Austen's magnificent heartfelt prose into almost a bubble-headed screwball comedy.

Supposedly, Huxley wanted to go back to the book, but MGM said they had purchased Helen Jerome's play and to go with bthat. My biggest problem, besides setting the movie 30 years later than 1812-13 and being so coy, is making Lady Catherine de Burgh a nice person as opposed to Austen's nasty bitch

Plowright was always wonderful. I recently saw her in a BBC broadcast of Pinter's The Birthday Party. She was so wonderful.
