I just slammed the phone down on a Spectrum billing representative. She said I was warned in my January statement there would be a rae increase and she couldn't do a thing for me. I could see a couple of dollars, but $11.00 is outrageous. I don't know what to do. Without work, I canmnot afford to add $11.00 to a bill for phone, computer, and TV.

Update on the Cleveland newspapers thing:

A couple of people in a Cleveland group said the Cleveland Press isn't available anywhere. But GenealogyBank (I'm guess that's something like Ancestry?) has the Plain Dealer for the price of membership with them, and supposedly the Cleveland Public Library offers the Plain Dealer archives for free. I will for sure be checking out the library, and if it's not all that I want, maybe a short-term subscription to the former will be in order.

I don't even want to tell y'all what we pay here at this house for TV, internet, and "land line" phone from Xfinity...with one main cable box and two "slave" ones, high-speed modem, etc. And we just recently got a $20.00 increase. Just because. It's horrible.

I also don't even want to tell y'all what we pay Verizon (who has always had the most dependable cell service in these parts) for the three cell phones.

It's depressing as HELL.

I'm not BK, but I can answer this. I didn't think Newspapers.com had either of these either, but I'm seeing them now. Use the Browse feature rather than Search - search will indeed not tell you. The Press looks a bit scattershot, but the Plain Dealer looks better. I'll have to do some more searching to see if it's really working.

GenealogyBank is a competitor to Newspapers.com which I subscribe to in part for the Plain Dealer access, given my family history in Cleveland. But if newspapers.com has it now...

Yikes!  Hoping your prospects for 2025 generate either cash or work!

Wow, DR MichaelG, thank you for all of that additional info that I didn't know...at all.

So that's what GenealogyBank is. I had no idea. See, I'm learning some stuff today.

OMG. Yes! The Plain Dealer AND Cleveland Press, for those years I want.

Cincinnati Enquirer, too.

I see no love for the Columbus Dispatch. And Connecticut is shabbily represented, to say the very least. But Cleveland is a gold mine. Thank you, DR MichaelG!

The BROWSE FEATURE. Who would have known??

Thank you for asking! It will be a lot easier to do Cleveland research with the newspapers at Newspapers.com which is integrated with Ancestry, where I do my family history research.

Glenville. Beachwood.

I was centered in the University Circle area, but these names all meant something.

Yes, Glenville. We stayed in University Circle during a family history trip to Cleveland with my Dad and sister, where we visited his high school, the house he grew up in, and the apartment building where my sister was born.
