U barely slept last night. Around 5:00 I was violently sick, with a repeat performance around 8:30. My first reaction was that I was coming down with the norovirus Jen had last week. So I had to look for the white plastic washtub I keep the cats' toys in, so I could have something close to hand if I got sixk in the middle of the night. Well, I feel fine, but very very sleerpy and tired this morning.

Now I'm wondering if it were mild food poisoning from the sausage and peppers I had for dinner.

Oh, no!  I hope you continue to feel fine and it doesn't get worse!

Thanks, DR George! I actually feel fine, just very sleepy. I do not believe I have the norovirus; from what Jen told me of her bout last week, I think I've eluded it so far. It's either whatever has been attacking me for the past couple of years or it was a mild case of food poisoning. I have to feed the cats and myself in the next thirty minutes, and we'll see how that goes.

I'm sorry to read that THE RECRUIT, which has been one of my favorite streaming series so far, with some of the most interesting characters I'd seen in this type of show, was canceled yesterday after just two seasons.   (Apparently, even though their ratings for season 2 were good, they were too big of a drop from season 1.).

Hoping some other outlet picks up THE RECRUIT, or that there's some resolution in some form (one-time movie, maybe in print) for what the creative folks wanted to happen with the characters.

The same with PRIME TARGET, the mathematician-based show, though that never caught on at all, and was cancelled after its first season.

On the other hand, glad to see that THE PITT, the ER-type show I've been enjoying, is doing well in the ratings.

It's so ER-like in nature that Noah Wyle from ER stars in THE PITT, and Michael Crichton's estate (which owns rights to ER) has sued - apparently over THE PITT's similarities to ER.

TOD: Where I live wild blackberries grow everywhere and they are delicious. Maybe I love blueberries more though.

We had wild blackberries on our road.  I preferred the marionberries that were in our garden when we first moved in.  I too prefer fresh blueberries.

In ancient times in Indiana, mom took us to U-Pick blueberry farms and she had her little army of five pickers filling buckets with berries. We’d take those home, eating them along the way. Then put them in baggies in the freezer. Later it was a treat to have a bowl of unfrozen berries.

There was one down the road from us.  The owner invited us to go anytime, not just the hours they were open.

TOD:

I love, love, love strawberries.  And blackberries.  And raspberries (aka "razz berries"). Blueberries, too.

I want to say huckleberries and elderberries, but I am really uncertain.

Huckleberry jam and licorice are delicous.

I have my quarterly doctor's appointment at the VA.  It's quarterly owing to my hypertension disability rating (happened while I was in service).  This is the appointment for which I did labs a week ago.

I don't expect anything major to come out of it, but it is next door to Panera Breads, and I'm going to get one of the other Asiago bagel sammiches.  This time "might" be the chicken one.

I hope the quality of your care does not change with all the government cutbacks.

Do any of y'all ever get those little "splits" in the skin of your fingers during the dry air of winter? And they're so tiny but they hurt like HELL?

I never did until ten years ago. I remember what I was doing at the time, so the time frame is accurate. In comparing notes (see what I did there?) with other musicians, I found it to be a common painful annoyance. Our fingers are always active on expensive toys so it's not convenient to keep moisturizing them, and the little cuts last forever.

Anyhoo, I've had one on the tip of my right index finger for the past week or so, and that's a pretty important finger in piano playing so it gets no relief. And today is the big double header:  a two-hour rehearsal at one school and a performance at another. I can favor it (a.k.a. fake it) at the rehearsal, no big deal there, but the performance is The Little Mermaid in which you almost literally never stop playing. It's not quite Les Miz in that regard, but the second act goes on FOREVER and I will surely be bandaging and nursing my poor little finger tonight.

Sorry.  Have you tried using olive oil on them?

Raspberries!

Nope, not having picking them and having to deal with swollens hands due to the thorns.

Just read of other actors omitted from the Oscars’ In Memorium segment: Alain Delon and Olivia Hussey. WTF?

And why do I care?

You care because these people should be remembered.

I too thought the protests were more than just about DEI.

I looked into the organization that is behind the boycotts. Here is what I discovered.

Are you against Trump, Elon Musk, or any specific individuals?
This movement is not about one person. It is about the system as a whole.
Both political parties, both past and current leaders,
and billionaires have manipulated the economy and profited off the working class.
We will hold them all accountable. Our focus is systemic change, not political drama.

This sounds better.
