The alarm rang at 5:15; I dressed, and the fact that it was really 4:30, not 5:30, hit me, and I lay back down with Thatch and Annabelle. When I decided it was time to get up, it was around 6:45, really 5:45, fed the cats and myself, and here I am.

God, do I hate daylight saving time.

In Dec. 1958, there was a particularly long Christmas break, so my family loaded up the station wagon, and we drove to Tucson, AZ, to visit my dad's brother and his family. They had moved west from Ohio around 1948 because their doctor recommended a dry climate for their daughter's serious bouts of asthma. My cousin, who was maybe ten years older than I and a very pampered only child, had maybe every Nancy Drew mystery published between 1940 and 4955 or so, and I spent my time in Tucson reading all of them. I never read any of the Hardy Boys, but I did love the two (?) Disney adaptations.

Yesterday, I watched the first hour of Wicked. I stopped at the end of "I'm not that girl." I'm not sure how I feel about Ariana Grande, but I love Cynthia Errivo. I reread the novel after seeing the musical, and I think Winnie Holzman's screenplay is much better than the musical's script. Speaking of Winnie, is she doing a cameo as the older librarian in the library dance sequence?

I'm not sure if it is that moment, but both she and Stephen Schwartz have prominent cameos. I think in the "One Short Day" sequence.

Took a little trip from Yonkers to 14th Street yesterday evening.

It was: interesting.

This is a high school, and I'm happy to report they're utilizing pretty much the full pit of about twenty with student players and maybe five or six of us hired. It sounded a bit scrappy, tuning-wise, and hopefully that will improve over the next couple of nights. We're tucked rather efficiently into an alcove within the set. I'll have to try getting some photographic evidence.
