DR Iris, it's always good to hear from you. I'm sorry you've had a bad health turn. I hope it's just a wild reaction to the radiation and not something physical. About two weeks before I finished my radiation, I had several days of depression, major anxiety, rage, crying jags, a whole gamut of awful moments, and the doctors and counselors claimed it was all one sytmptom of potential radiation mind and body games.

Last night, I had dinner at a restaurant that opened its doors to the balmy breezes and turned the dining room into a kind of patio. It felt great, but it was a big mistake in terms of my allergies.

When I went to bed, it took forever for my nasal passages to open enough for me and to fall asleep. Luckily, the CPAP just keeps at it until I can breathe in and out through ny nose.

I had a recurring dream about watching the filming of a documentary of a spy escape. It was perfect and everyone was pleased with the details captured on film. After a bathroom break, I came back, fell asleep again and dreamt the same dream again. Only it felt more like a second take.

Iris, I have requested John Sedlar’s book from the library. I knew the name was familiar. I believe I, too, have had a cooking class with him or heard him speak with Mark Miller and Stephan Pyles. The three of them wrote a cookbook called Tamales. Yes, I know, three white men writing about a food from someone else’s culture…but it was a good guide.

I made tamales once. Never again. You need an assembly line to make them in a decent amount of time.

The Mystery of the Applegate Treasure

The Mystery of Ghost Farm.

I always liked the opening theme of the former.

Oh my, I don't remember seeing this, but I must have.  It's the kind of thing that was always cut out when they hour shows were trimmed to thirty minutes for syndication.

What a bunch of talented kids.  And watch Annette's turns in the tap number - that kid could DANCE!

My sisters had various editions of the Nancy Drew books, which were revised over the years. I liked the second blue editions best. Kind of a dark blue, textured cover.

The family down the street gave me all of the Hardy Boys books after their sons outgrew them. Only one or two was in the red editions.

I read them all, but I liked Nancy better. I still have a copy of the Nancy Drew Cookbook.

My fourth grade teacher didn’t like mysteries, so she forbade us to read them during our free period. She couldn’t stop us from bringing them into the classroom, because we could read them on the bus. But she would have, if she could.

Obviously, this was not my favorite teacher.

I was compelled to buy a copy of the new to me autobiography of Lonnie Burr - Confessions of an Accidental Mouseketeer......

I'm afraid I never read or saw anything Hardy or Drew as a kid, and I kind of regret that since they were all so enormously popular and respected.

All I have here, which I have never watched - but now I will - is the Walt Disney Treasures packaging of The Hardy Boys. I have no idea how much was made, or how much of it is on there. But I'm taking it off the shelf now for when I have some viewing time...probably next week.

Car is at the Mercedes place - will have it back by four, finished or not. Hoping it's not too expensive, just cleaning or straightening out sensors. Also, when I bought it in December they told me the next service wouldn't be for about seven months. Uh uh - next month.
