My fourth grade teacher didn’t like mysteries, so she forbade us to read them during our free period. She couldn’t stop us from bringing them into the classroom, because we could read them on the bus. But she would have, if she could.

Silly teacher should have been thrilled with the fact that you were reading.

DR John do you remember what she had you reading during "free" time?  I put free in quotes since it wasn't really free.

I went to a new gastro doctor today and really liked her.

That's good news!

Obviously, this was not my favorite teacher.

I would think not.

OMG!    What kind of school was this?

Lutheran. She hated mysteries because they were always solved at the end.

Interesting reason.

I don't remember having free reading time at school.  I seem to recall trips to the library to check out books to take home, or maybe some were also available in the classrooms.

I read a few Nancy Drew books and stopped.  I read slightly more Hardy Boy books and preferred them.  I really didn't read mysteries again until I was an adult, and still not all that many until I began reading them to discuss them with my brother.

I don’t remember. But I will never forget lecture on mysteries.

From John:

Quote
There’s still 93 ahead of me in line for Ina Garten’s memoir.

Wow, there are 22 people ahead of me for the eBook.  I started at 57th and there are currently 45 people in the queue.  My library also has 12 copies which helps.

The library has 60 copies of the audiobook.

Wow.  I looked at my library.  There are 19 audiobooks with 104 in the queue.

She did surprise me in that she wants me to have an endoscopy.  My last one was six years ago.

My sisters had various editions of the Nancy Drew books, which were revised over the years. I liked the second blue editions best. Kind of a dark blue, textured cover.

The family down the street gave me all of the Hardy Boys books after their sons outgrew them. Only one or two was in the red editions.

Yes! The blue covers. And the Nancy Dew endpapers were wonderful. My memory says they were silhouettes.

On This Day in 1959, Lorraine Hansberry's A Raisin in the Sun became the first play by an African American woman to be produced on Broadway.

Many people don't know that it was originally titled A Grape in the Sun, but it stayed out too long.

DR JANE so glad you like your new doctor!

Yes - I liked the video too.  I may go back and watch it again.  I knew that Don Grady was a Mouseketeer on the blue team - but I had never seen him dance.  He was very good, too.

Oy! Does that White House bitch Karoline ("I'm a mean girl and proud of it") Leavitt believe any of the lies & bullshit she spouts in her press conferences? When she's not bowing down to the Fat Orange Felon, she makes sure to get her kicks in on Biden.

Well, I'm sick. Of the last hour, I would estimate I spend 49 minutes of it in the bathroom. God, I hate this.

Got the car back and thankfully it had stopped raining just prior to me walking back there. Turns out, it's the sensors or something in the front seat belts that triggered this. It's safe to drive, but it will occasionally give me the error message. They'll need to replace the front seat belts, program them, etc. Cost? Over two grand. Not today, Josephine.

Jane, did you see this week's new TRACKER?

This week's resolution as to who the kidnapper and kidnapping victim were seemed really interesting and well-acted (especially since some weeks, the show's formula can get a little TOO reliable - but that may be part of why I enjoy the show).

I thought the writing, and performance by the actress playing the kidnapping victim, was particularly good in those scenes.

Is that episode 12?  Last one we watched was episode 11.
