I'm up, I'm up - a bit over four hours of sleep - up at 7:30 and just playing a lot of catch up.

Took clothes to a new dry cleaners only three blocks from here - very good ratings.

I shall be on my way to Deadwood in about 20 minutes.

The taquitos are resting in the oven.

I am driving and picking up sister Paula and sister Myrna.

In honor of Love Life, here’s Bryn Terfel singing Here I’ll Stay.

Around 1993, John McGlinn wanted to record a complete Love Life with Judy Kaye and Thomas Hampson for EMI-Angel. He had the great copyist Christine Ambrose prepare a vocal score from Weill's full scores. I never knew exactly what happened to prevent it: the Oklahoma! debacle that ended his EMI contract or EMI's insistence to only record one CD of excerpts. I have one of the copies of Christine's vocal score, and I suspect it may be the source for the newly published score. I'll find out when my copy of the new score arrives. To finish off his contract, John did record a nice chunk of Love Life and The Firebrand of Florence on Hampson's "Kurt Weill on Broadway" album for EMU.

I love that Hampson CD! The critical report credits John Baxindine with the piano/vocal score. Joel Galand was the editor. You can find the introduction and critical notes at the Kurt Weill Edition site:

This is a first for me. Boarding has been delayed because the plane is too hot.

Our boarding was also delayed due to a maintenance issue. And it was
hot! But then it got cold as we flew over the far north.

I was tired but every time I dozed on the plane, I awoke with a jolt. Don’t know why.

Edge of Tomorrow.

I’d heard this was a good Tom Cruise sci-fi Groundhog Day. And it was engrossing enough. Emily Blunt was good.

Napoleon.

Having now a taste for French history, this seemed like a good idea. It was well made. Joaquin seemed fine, dedicated. Kinda never really got what made him tick though. Meh. But informative.

Purple Noon

Always wanted to see this the first adaptation of the Mr Ripley source material. Such lovely Italian scenery. Sumptuous.

See How They Run

This was a surprise delight you mystery fans must know but it was new to me. A mystery within a mystery during the 100th performance of Mousetrap. Lots of fun from a game cast.

Sam Rockwell tends to be an enjoyable actor. The girl who played his constable partner was quite good too.

Yup, and relieved when the house hasn't flooded.
