The shrimp mac and cheese turned out very well.

And it is raining so I can't mow the grass!

From DR Vixmom:

Quote
I used the necessary, had a glass of oj and my levithyroxine  and sat down in the recliner

Hmmm, are you aware that it is supposed to be taken on an empty stomach and then wait 30-60 minutes before eating?
Calcium supplements shouldn't be taken for four hours after taking levothyroxine.

i had a wonderful 2-hour session with Joe, my student. We went through "Roses of Picardy" for the last time. I pointed ot several sections I thought might be over0orchestrated and suggested he hear them in rehearsal and decide rather than thin them out. We went on to "Auld Lang Syne," which he had told me was an audience singalong. I thought the orchestration was too light, and he confessed the soloist was singing it and they hoped the audience would sing along.

Then we looked at an arrangement Joe's writing of the Sailor's Hornpipe. He's about 2/3 through it and I was more enthusiastic about it than he is. We focused on the section he did not like  and then discussed where it was going. He's very talented.

That's great, Larry!

When I was in college, I took an orchestrating class that (if I remember correctly) was just the instructor reading the book. ::)

Some of the students decided to file a complaint and I think only then did he start to interact with us and actually teach in the class.

Not because of that, but I did not become an orchestrator, nor did I have any affinity for orchestrating.

Quelle surprise! ;)

I slept very well after4 the mess the night before. I can't remember a single dream but "Indian Love Call" keeps running through my head. Not the famous "when I'm calling you-oo-oo-oo-oo" but the verse "When the long lagoon stirs in the spring . . ."

I love that part of the song, especially when sung by Julie Andrews and Giorgio Tozzi.

That's my favorite recording of Rose-Marie!

We are both too tired, and feeling too crappy, to go to the gym.  We really need to stop waking up at 1:00am.

DR George, did you receive an email from the Pierce Library?
"On April 28, 2025, the Library System will cancel holds that should not have shown as available. If you did place a hold on such a title, your account will show that the title is no longer available."
