Fact learned from the chapter I read today in THE MAN WHO INVENTED ROCK HUDSON:

Rock was turned down not once but twice by MGM's head of talent acquisition. She later regretted the decision after he became a huge superstar, but she said MGM was homophobic in casting potential stars and never even seriously considered him.

Then how did Van Johnson, Charles Walters and several others get through the MGM doors?

I took the Vixter and her friend to see a local prodcution of Jane Eyre.

The live orchestraleft sonething to be desired and there were a few microphone issues in the first act, the costuming and bad bad wigs was really qquite awful

BUT!!!!

The voices!  The actor who played Rochester and the actress who played Jane were absolutely superb, as were the children who played young Jane, Helen, and Adele.

The ones who played Robert the butler and the housekeeper (who's name has momentarilly escaped me) were also very very good, especially the housekeeper who had a wonderful comic touch

Both the girls loved it, but the Vixter especially was on the edge of her seat as Enmily had seen the movie and is actually currently reading the book, whereas Victoria was completely unfamiliar with the material.

She cried, she laughed, she cheered.

I'm tellinm g you peopel if you are puting on a show, get the Vixter sitting amongst your critics  her reactions to a show will have them all writing raves!!

HI Guys I'm at the visitors center in Times Square.  Just trying to find someplace dry to hang out.

Went to the wax museum--it was very fun.  I got to sing for the Amerian Idol part of the tour.  I did "Crazy".  Simon said I did the song proud and I even had a couple of people come up to after to ask if I was here to try out for  a Broadway show!

Well, you only get a moment on these computers so I have to go.

I saw DR Elmore this morning and then DR Jane.  DR Jose called me.  I LOVE NYC!

RE: The Naked Cowboy - Whenever I've seen him on the streets, he's usually just posing for tips and/or just the attention.  But I could be wrong.

And I'm sure if someone started Googling, he must have a website by now.

But of course!  It's www.nakedcowboy.com.  What else??

I am watching/listening to a DVD of music videos of various popular Pakistani pop singers/groups. Very nice music. I am now a fan of Pakistani pop! And I didn't realize that the pop due STRINGS was Pakistani...I thought they were Indian..who knew.

My ex-boyfriend is from Pakistan.  He likes to sing, but...he would never be able to make a career out of it. ::) I was supposed to visit him a couple of weeks ago (we're still good friends) but he got called in to work at the last minute and had to cancel. :-\

Just had to share. :)

Yea!! I just finished one of my papers.  One down and one more to go before Tuesday.  I may be mostly E&T until then.

It's a good thing that the weather is so crappy outside, at least I'm not tempted to play hooky.

I must be off and (practically) running.  I have to shower and shave, walk my sister's dog, find a wedding present for my former housemate whose wedding reception is tomorrow, come back home and walk my sister's dog again (she and my niece will be gone all day), usher for a local semi-professional production of The Woman In Black, then start house-and-cat-sitting at the house with no computer access.  That's a long day!

Then tomorrow, I have to come back to my house, feed my cat [actually, my former housemate's cat...his former fiancee, now wife (they got married last week in Las Vegas), is allergic], go to my former housemate's wedding reception with the gift that I get today, come home, feed my cat then house-and-cat-sit at the house without a computer.  The house-sitting will continue until Wednesday.  But they pay! ;D

Then on Monday, the entire library district where I work is having our annual "All Staff Day."  We all get together for training and free food.  This year it's being held in the Centralia/Chehalis area, about 30-40 minutes south of where I work.  Since several of us are carpooling, I have to get to work at 8:00 a.m.  (I usually get to work at 10:00 a.m.)  That's just too darned early for me. ;)

More pictures!  Lovely.

DRLAURA we must see a photo of your painted office when you are done.

All kinds of things happening today.  No rain here, but very cool.  And that is okay!

I think I will watch THE CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON today.

The DP and I are off to the Land of Disney in the Heim of Ana this weekend (until Tuesday) so I will be E&T the next few days - not like I've posted a lot recently, but i won't be able to read the site while away.  Love the stories and the pictures from the Eating and Walking tour :)

Cool, did you know that Blue Bunny is made in the Ice Cream Capital of the World, otherwise known as Le Mars, IA!

I did not know that! I only knew it was de-lish-us!! And Walmart seems to be the only place in these here parts that sell it.
