All of the Streisand TV specials (including The Belle of 14th Street) are being released next month on DVD.  There is going to be a boxed set that's a surprisingly cheap $40 for all five specials.

Hmm...

Renee Fleming teaching Martha Stewart (and her audience) how to sing...

Hmmm...

And now Ms. Fleming is crooning her way through a Handel aria.  Pretty... eh...

Hmm...

Dr Danise, welcome home. Glad you made it safely and had such a good time.  I had so much fun on the trip. I feel so lucky to have met so many wonderful new friends.  I was very tired when I got home and am still recovering. Luckily I do have today off, so I can mow the yard, do the laundry, clean house and other mundane chores that need to be done.

But first, I think I'll go to HuHot Mongolian Grill for lunch. I love that place

Dr Danise Thanks so much for the Today Show photos...do you happen to have one without circles and arrows that you could email me?

Okay.  I'm catching up on posts from the weekend, working my way backwards (it's sort of like Merrily We Roll Along, without the music.)

*Of course, I'd most likely have to take a Pepcid of two after eating all of the above.   And I'd probably have to see my doctor the next day.

Thank you so much, DR Dan (the Man). I thouoght I had read about the DVDs, and I am looking forward to this a lot since I love the first two specials and "A Happening" is just fine but a concert so less imaginative.

I have never seen THE BELLE OF 14th STREET. I don't know how I've missed it all these years, but I have. And there was no album issued at the same time which also makes it something of a mystery.

I do remember that it got the lowest ratings of any of her first group of specials, all of the others of which did very, very well.

Greetings from work (lunch hour)!  Three sparkling mementoes from last week's trip that I'm enjoying today:

In my car, the CD of Ben's second volume of reviews for BBC Wales - thank you, DR Ben!

At my desk, my new Playbill Metropolitan Opera mouse pad - thank you, DR Rodzinski

On my computer, and zooming through cyberspace to all my friends and relatives, the photos of we 3 HHW girls at The Today Show - thank you, DR Danise!

Fast food lunch: Burger King with fries and whatever dessert concoctions they offer.

If I'm going to go to a real restaurant to eat, probably fried chicken, rice and gravy, green beans, a yeast roll with butter, and chocolate cake.

Supper: filet mignon, baked potato with butter (no sour cream) and bacon, asparagus with hollandaise sauce, apple pie a la mode.

I have very simple tastes.

DR Matt, if you go to the Streisand Archives, you might read more about The Belle of 14th Street than will be revealed in any commentry on the DVD.

DR Jose: Splash! tonight for Jared's birthday...? He wants to meet around 8:00. Give me a call.

It's a slow news day here in Astoria. I'm just about to prepare some lunch and watch Mr. Alfred Hitchcock's "Rope," which I've never seen before.
