Ah ha!!

1933 Hallelujah, I'm A Bum
Starring Al Jolson with Madge Evans, Frank Morgan, Harry Langdon and Chester Conklin.
Quite a different movie, Jolie plays Bumper, a hobo whose close friend just happens to be the mayor of New York. The interesting sidenote to this picture is the title, itself, which was changed to Hallelujah, I'm A Tramp for release in England, where "bum" has a more vulgar meaning.

Now, you've got it! HALLELUJAH, I'M A BUM.

I need to get that on DVD, then I need to fashion a CD of the Rodgers and Hart music. "You are too beautiful," "I Didn't Wanna Do it..."

Frank Morgan is so freakin' funny in that movie.

I have that film on DVD, and while it's an interesting movie, quite a departure for Jolson and offers us a quick glimpse of both Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart in cameo roles, I can't say that it's one of my favorite musicals of the period. I'd rather watch Chavalier and Jeannette MacDonald in LOVE ME TONIGHT.

After I get back from lunch with some buddies, I have quite a long afternoon of watching stuff off the DVR to clear it for tonight. I still have that live East Coast broadcast of WILL & GRACE on there that I've been meaning to save to a DVD, too.

The singer who introduced "Carolina in the Morning" was none other than Mr William Frawley.

BK, have you tried:

http://peoplesearch.lycos.com/?OVRAW=locate%20phone%20number%20free&OVKEY=free%20locate%20phone%20numbers&OVMTC=standard

On yahoo search i typed in: locate phone number free

and got a bunch of free searches that give phone number and addresses.

One time I needed more than these searches could find and for only a few dollars i used (locateamerica.com) and i was very happy with their services.

Yesterday's Topic of the Day...

I was hooked on the radio when I was younger - and still listen to more radio nowadays... even as a still-yet-to-be-played pile of CDs sits next to my CD player... Ah, well...

I don't really remember any particular DJs, but I do remember KING in Seattle, WA, and WRNL in New London, CT.  And then there was Q107 in Washington, DC during my teen years - they were the last of actual "pop music stations" to hang on until economics and ratings forced them to change things up.

I would make tapes of songs off the radio - and then bug the DJs for a while getting the actual song titles and artist's names.  I even invested in one of those home tape splicing kits from Radio Shack so that I could edit my own tapes.

And the hours I would spend on the weekend listening to "America's Top 40".  Kasey Kasem was my hero.

I am STILL waiting for my REWIND.  :(

Well, something is obviously wrong, since it was sent in the very first batch.  I have the customs form receipt here, not that that means anything.  If it doesn't arrive by Monday I'll send another.  LOVE USPS.

DR iris - Yes, Train 173, Track 9.  Scheduled to depart at 4:05.  Delayed for 15 minutes.  -Of course, that delay ended up lasting about another 20 minutes.  But, hey, at least we made it out of the station.  -I was walking through Penn Station the other day when an announcement was made that a train trip had been cancelled due to "lack of equipment".  What?!?!?!?

*And it's always amazing just how the delays just add up as the train proceeds southward.  I think we ended up being almost an hour late once we hit Union Station.

**However, my last couple of trips northward on Amtrak have been on-time and even early(!) sometimes!

Oh ASK BK day.  I always have questions and then I forget them.

BUT -

Often times in movies and TV shows there a big dance numbers that are being watched by main characters in the movies....

When the dances are to include cutaways to audience or adoring person watching (Mr Gene Kelly particularly liked to include BIG FAT CLOSEUPS of HIS MUG when OTHER people were dancing) - was the choreographer privy to the information of which parts of his dance would NOT be included?  Or did the director and the editor cut it all up and leave some of the splits and chasse's on the floor at random.

Unless the choreographer is sitting in the editing room (Gene Kelly would have had that power, Astaire, etc.), the editor and maybe the director would put in the cutaways).

DR Ron Pulliam - Hope you feel better.  Again.  Soon.

:)

*When was the last time you washed your sheets? - pillow cases, in particular.  In peak allergy system, I wash them a bit more frequently since allergens and other 'stuff' get transferred from my hair to my pillow cases.

**And when was the last time you changed your tooth brush?  I've always been advised to get a new one after any sort of illness - or at least soak my toothbrush overnight in a small glass of antiseptic mouthwash.

***And as for investing in Kleenex stock...  It's never too late, is it?

DR vixmom - I checked the wire reports, there were no reports of an earthquake on Long Island the other night.  Must have been that hibachi rice you and the vixdad had at dinner earlier that night.
