Jane, from yesterday, we're going to the military cemetery to check it out.  Since it would be free, my mom was thinking of having my dad (and her, when the time comes) interred there.  Her friend Inge is also coming because Inge's husband is interred there and she doesn't drive anymore, so this will be the first time in several years (and probably the last time) that she is able to go.  And Shelly's coming because she may have an uncle there.

So, we went to the Tahoma National Cemetery and drove around.  I wasn't able to get any pictures (I was driving), but it was a very respectful place.  Inge found her husband's resting place.  At first, she was able to find the right section of wall from memory, but couldn't find the specific place until another woman who was there told us about the "Find Your Loved One" link on the website.  Inge got a couple of pictures in front of the plaque to send to her sister-in-law, so she was happy about that.  She was very grateful that we were able to bring her.

Shelly has an uncle there, but didn't want to take the time to find him.  She may go back at a later date, but on that "Find Your Loved One" link, it also has a picture of each person's memorial placque, so she could at least see that.

After we left the cemetery, we went to the Golden Corral All-You-Can-Eat buffet restaurant.

It's certainly not the highest quality eatins, but my mom had seen commercials and just wanted to try it since we're were going to be (somewhat) in the neighborhood.  And now she can check off that box. We all did enjoy it enough, but it's not a destination worth going to just for the sake of going there.

I was watching that Rodgers & Hart program that I posted yesterday, and at right about 12 minutes and 5 seconds, Stanley Wayne Mathis sings "Any Old Place With You," a song from 1919, and his (non-singing) dance partner is Alet (Oury) Taylor!

I haven't watched the rest yet, so I don't know if she returns.

Thank you for explaining.  It is interesting too.  I hope your mother is pleased with the cemetery.

She was, but since we already own actual burial plots here in Tumwater and Kent is so far away, she's having second thoughts about being interred there.  We'll see.

I am sad (if that's the right word) that the idiot snow plow guy thought I only had a single driveway and piled a tall mountain blocking half of the street entrance.

I guess I will be driving the skinny car for awhile.  Of course my driveway is just a hop skip and a jump compared to the one DR CHAS SMITH has deal with.

Topic of the Day:  when we first moved here, there was a strip mall at the entrance of the housing development we lived in.  I think ShopRite was the grocery store there and we'd walk there all the time since it was just a few blocks away.  It wasn't until after I went to college in Bellingham that they closed.

Just ended a chapter and started a new one - six pages so far, and four more to go.

I took a break and, of course, dozed off for too long, but five hours a night is not good and why that's happening.

Thanks to the Amazon food orders, I have a few things here to snack on - cheese, crackers, rice pudding, fruit bars. I only had the half order of orange chicken before. I may try to see if there's a small sandwich I can get, though, which I think would be better than cheese and crackers.

My brother hurt his back and will not be by today.

That will NOT do. THAT WILL JUST NOT DO.

I am going out and doing about 15 or twenty minutes of shoveling.....coming back in for awhile and then going out again.  I may be done by 1 p.m. or so.

Topic of the Day:  I have I gotten food picked by Instacart, but not delivered.

When Shelly first moved in, she was having back problems, so she created a shopping list, then I went to pick it up from Fred Meyer.

I guess there's no (or a very low) fee for that, versus actually having it delivered.

And for a while, I delivered DoorDash, but have never actually ordered through DoorDash.

I'd rather go to a place and eat there (food is much fresher), but I do understand it can be more of a necessity than just a convenience.

I just read this on a UK Facebook page called Boycott USA-UK.

"The new documentary Melania for which Jeff Bezos has paid 40 million dollars is facing its world premiere. At Vue in London, one ticket had been sold up to the day of the premiere.
When you take into account that the marketing budget is 35 million dollars, it does not seem that the world shares a great fascination with the first lady right now.
Still, I'm pretty sure that the film has a good chance of getting an Oscar, in the same way that her husband got a hand-me-down Nobel Peace Prize. If that should be missed, there is always Fifa's yet-to-be-established Film Awards."
