Another day at home with Mario Frangoulis; it's very tedious work...

Some of us pray for such tedium!   ;D

Actually, DRJason, I think it's "ball" of butter.

It's not "Baal of butter"?  I always thought that Merrill was making a reference to the ancient Phoenician sun-god.

Good stuff, Dan!
Acutally "Butter of Baal" would be a great name for a sun-tan lotion.

Max Preeo just posted that Deep Discount DVD's 20% off sale is up and running again!  Just went and spent several hundred (but several hundred less than I would have spent  ;D).  Codes are SUPERSALE and USATODAY.  This is a great way to get those boxed sets you've been waiting for, cheap, cheap, cheap.

TOD - CD(car):  On my way to work this morning, Standing in the Shadows of Motown soundtrack; on my way home later today, Mario Frangoulis' Follow Your Heart, the only MF recording available in my library system.

DVD - Who knows?  DS Rob will be home for the weekend, so we'll try to watch a movie and eat pizza together.

VCR - ?

Paging Danise, Paging Danise!!!

Here is a link to a program on BBC Radio 2 hosted by Michael Ball. It airs today and will be available through next Friday. It's got to do with the Country Music Awards ceremony which is being held in Manhattan this year, at Madison Square Garden.

DR Ben - Your trip to Ireland, with the additional visit to Wales, sounds wonderful!  I'm so glad you'll get to meet Beverly - be sure to have some photos taken that you can post for us!

This is painful. We're sooooo un-busy that the day is dragging along. All the schools in the country are closed - there' s no mail. I think I've had 5 phone calls all day. Why won't they close up early? It's ridiculous!

DR Jason - We're not too busy, either.  People probably assume we're closed.

My dad was an Army veteran, and I will always be proud and grateful for what he and millions of others have done for our country.

I hope my criticism of the way our Veteran's Day celebration was observed didn't come across as disrespectful. I just think the service could have been handled much more efficiently and for a greater overall impression had we used all the facilities at our disposal.

Most of our customers' businesses ARE closed, so there's VERY little happening in the way of business today. What could it possibly hurt to close up at 3:00?

DR JMK: Thank you for the notification about DeepDiscountDVD's sale!! As you all know, I was just ripped off by someone at Amazon.com, but with the discount, I just bought the Hitchcock Masterpiece Collection for only about $10 more than what I paid on Amazon - and I can trust DeepDiscountDVD!!

Now, if only Amazon would hurry up and give me my refund...

Want to say a few things about the shows I watched this afternoon.

JOEY had another good episode, matched with the good one from last week. Nope, it's not a great comedy, but they're starting to make use of the cast in what they do best, and Matt LeBlanc's work last night should be his Emmy submission tape if he's able to get nominated.

Not at all, DR MattH.  I think what made the school program so successful here was that it was the final event in the students' cross-discipline study of the Vietnam War.  They did something in every class that related, even in math, where they studied probability by learning about the draft lottery.  They were totally into the subject by the time all these uniformed veterans showed up, carrying rifles, yet.

THE OFFICE had another very funny and oddly poignant episode. This has become my favorite comedy on television. The losers on the show are given some moments where they can feel like winners, and the characters with crushes get some validation before it gets snatched away. In this regard, with the addition of some heart along with the boss's callousness and buffoonery, the American version of the show has gained on its British counterpart. It has now become its own show without having to wilt in the huge shadow of its predecessor.

SMALLVILLE was certainly different last night and surprised me by its not being a dream.

In the old comic books, you'd have these unbelievable stories and in the last couple of panels, the character would wake up from a dream and you'd realize that, much like Dorothy in the movie version of THE WIZARD OF OZ, the entire adventure had been a dream (Should I have said "spoiler here? ;D )

But, nope, this wasn't a dream despite a lot of property and personal destruction that seemed to be going on. Very surprising!

Now I want butter.

The dreaded Dr. C hasn't given out the paper topic yet, so I have a paper-free Cherry-Coke-full three-day weekend. Woo hoo!!

Ginny, I will certainly take photos of Beverly and me which will be posted here and then one of them will most likely end up as the cover photo for Volume 3 of my reviews. Until then, here is a picture of her, without me.
