Faster!  We must row, row, row (that is three rows), like the galley slaves in Ben-Hur.  Where is Jack Hawkins when you need him.  I want to be off this fershluganah page already.

I was going to post this in the morning before I was interrupted.

It's a link to a review of a new production of Jerry Herman's The Grand Tour and it stars the one and only Jason Graae (quoting from the review now) "one of those rare performers who can sing, dance and act, and is splendid as the Jewish Everyman Jacobowsky, a man who has learned to live ("survive" would be a better word for it) by his wits

I was so puzzled by the events this morning that I had to contact DRBen because I thought my computer had died.

I live in my favorite vacation spot.

The beautiful Sheraton Bal Harbour in Miami Beach is the most luxurious resort I ever stayed in.  Beautiful....loved to sit on my balcony and watch the ocean and see the sunset....

Great service, lovely rooms, and great people.  And so much to see in Florida!  NOT ONLY Disney World and Universal.  It is an historically interesting place to see....museums and parks, etc.

As everyone knows I love London. I also love Honfleur in Normandy. I mentioned both of these sites yesterday as possible home locations if money were no object.

The Grand Canyon is a great adventure, although I was not able to walk down the trail into the canyon. It's an amazing site to stand at the rim and take it all in. Even for someone with a fear of heights, it's gorgeous!

I will report on how I feel about Cardiff when I return in January. I booked the flight on Ryan Air from Dublin to Cardiff and got a great deal for two nights in a 4 star hotel in Cardiff. We will spend some time as tourists, we will meet Beverly and meet my cousin Ray from Sheffield. It's turning into quite a trip.

My favorite resort experience was the Polynesian Resort Hotel in Disney World.  Just an amazing place.  We were there during a light season, and actually got upgraded to a better room.  Plus the proximity to the Disney parks and Mickey's Polynesian Luau made for a great vacation.  I really didn't want to leave.

I'm a poor actor - I don't know from resorts.

The Bronx Zoo is my little haven of peace and quiet. And starting on Thanksgiving Day, I will be able to visit the Zoo for free any day of the year!

And the word of the day is: PRETERNATURAL!
A preternaturalist would probably be a ghost nudist.

Which would explain the chills.

Second favorite resort was the Rio in Las Vegas.  Stunning room for just normal prices, since it's a little off the Vegas Strip.  And they had something called Masquerade in the Sky going right through the lobby area over the gaming tables, opulent floats and entertainment on tracks, which was magic as long as you pretended not to notice the pulleys.  Doesn't exactly SOUND relaxing but it put me ina wonderfully giddy frame of mind for the entire stay.  A great place to come back to after hours of seeing all Vegas had to offer.

Jason - If you've never been to a resort-type hotel, Vegas is full of great deals on hotels that give you the resort experience for as little as $50-60 a night if you time it right.    Bally's was $60 a night, Rio was $89 a night, both wonderfully lavish.  (June is a great time to find deals, for example, if you can go from Sunday through Thursday.)

I couldn't post, either. . .so I PM'd several H&Ks, then, I went out and found out that I am now EMPLOYED AGAIN!  I'll still be a server, hell, that's my career, but, now I will be at the new Pittsburgh Mills' Red Robin Restaurant, pushing gourmet burgers and endless steak fries AND getting health benefits, too!
Congratulations td!

Funny thing about the lavish Rio hotel room, though - it had a window from the shower/tub that allowed someone in the room to look into the bathroom and vice versa.  Funky, that.  :)

Why do you get this wonderful advantage over the rest of us poor Slobovians?

Because he has just become a member of the Zoo! I know because I'm a member too.

Jason thanks for the tip on Chita. I'm going to skip Hedwig and Hedda that night and see Chita. I'm going Thursday December 1 at 8pm. Since they are E-Tix I won't know where I'm sitting until I get there.

TOD - On the first of three lovely long road trips our family took while DS Rob was growing up, we stayed one night at Flanigan's Inn at the south entrance of Zion National Park in Utah.  I've always wanted to go back to spend about a week there.  It was casually elegant and the scenery was spectacular.

Here's a resort that I've never been to, but if I had a significant other--or even someone I could just grab off the street who wouldn't put up much of a fight--I would go here!

I don't think of New Yawk City or London as being resorts.  They are cities that fascinate, true, but they are not geared specifically for the tourists.  They make their monies doing other things.

I, on the other hand, live in a resort community.  That's what Rehoboth Beach is, a resort community, dependent upon the annual influx of vacationers for it's income.  As a working resident, I look forward to the increase in jobs these vacationers provide...and also look forward to the end of the season, when we don't have to put up with their rudeness, their attitude that they own the world.

I'm just glad I'm on antidepressants.  It makes living here so much easier.
