Probably my rarest 45 EP - the English version of the soundtrack of ROME ADVENTURE with its alternate title LOVERS MUST LEARN.  ;D

I bought my records because of the artists, not the record labels...but I remember both the Roulette and Liberty labels as being distinctive.  Anyone remember the Okeh label on 78s?

I am watching The Marx Bros today and taping it so that when I tell my DEATH BY CHOCOLATE cast that I want to play the show that way....all they have to do is watch the tape.

And by the way....Freedonia's going to war!!

A THEATRE STORY TO GIVE THANKS FOR ON TURKEY DAY!

British actor Richard Griffith is performing in a play, Heroes, at Wyndhams Theatre in London.  At a Saturday Matinee, after a woman's cell phone rang for the third time in the play (this time during a penultimate scene in the play), Griffith broke character, stepped down to the apron, and addressed her: "Is your f**king cell phone going to ring one more time or could I finish the play.  There are 750 people sitting here and if  I were them, I'd sue you for spoiling their afternoon.  In fact, why don't you leave the theatre now.  F**k off!"

He brought down the house, getting a standing ovation.  The offender left.

Rejoice a blow has been struck for a return to decorum and good manners in the theatre.  Shame the entitled, rude bastards and then throw 'em out of the theatre!   Bravo, Mr. Griffith!

Correction.  It is Richard Griffiths; not Griffith.

Gabe just did a book report on The Penultimate Peril wherein he quite accurately defined penultimate.  :)

Labels:  Well BK may remember this, since we have discussed it privately, but I was an A&M addict growing up mostly because of Sergio Mendes.  A&M (and its licensee, CTI) always had the coolest artists, IMHO, including BK's close personal friend David's father, Julius Wechter.

And we of course have BK (among others too numerous to mention) to thank for the splendid 2CD release of Cleopatra.  How Alex North didn't win an Oscar for that score is beyond me.

A&M was a pretty label!  I liked the white with brown on the 45's.  And the albums made the logo look like the Ark of the Covenant!

That was the circa 70s label, which had the very funny insert sleeves with an "RCA"-looking dog with its ears cocked (no mean feat, LOL) looking at LPs flying in through the windows.  The "classic" A&M label was of course the ochre (this color has been discussed ad nauseum on the A&M Board I frequent, believe it or don't) with the trumpet underneath the red A&M letters.

Hi all, I'm here at work. Just me....literally. Well, the temp secretary will be back after lunch, but it's really quiet today as most people are already gone. I like it.   I decided to work today and take Monday off.  I hate the craziness of the Monday after a holiday so this works out great.   We can close the office at 4:00pm today, so that's ok.

So today, Paul is supposed to finish his latest mural. I'll post a photo later. It's 3 stories on the side of a factory and is a cutaway of the factory in the 40s making tank parts for WWII.  It's pretty cool.  Anyway, the weather is getting really cold so he HAS to finish today. So I'll probably go celebrate with him a little after work

Good Afternoon!

-The installed a DSL line in the rehearsal hall office, so....  Sshhhh - stage management is trying to keep the "others" off the computer, but since I'm special...

;)

In any case...

I tried to post last night, but the cable and internet connection at home was spotty again - but at least the cable company called in advance to say they would be doing some work on the line last night.  -I just had to wonder why they had to do the work during prime internet use time.

OK - Gotta run...  Lunch is almost over...

But I'm here...

Laters...

Tomorrow morning the cats and I are driving to my parents' house (about 2 1/2 hours away). I figure the traffic will be ok early in the morning and I hate to drive on 2 lane roads at night. The lights really bother me.  I'll probably be there until Sunday. This trip keeps getting longer and changing, but that's cool.  There's only dial-up at my parents house and the computer is in my dad's bedroom.  My laptop died (I'm getting a new one - I've had it with this one).  So the bottom line is I won't be online much.

I will. Enjoy New York in all it's quiet glory tomorrow. One of the nice things about Manhattan on a holiday is it's usually quiet and serene.

We're looking forward to December 8th and Auntie Mame on the Big Screen!

Ooh!  ooh!  I might want to come along!
