I'm supposing that "between noon and 1:30 means 1:30 - what else is new?

I just had to shower in water bordering on cold, and I was none too pleased, that much I can tell you.

Plumber still isn't here.  He now has twenty-five minutes.  I just called the gal who booked him and she's calling him to make sure he knows that's the latest he can get here, because I must leave by two or two-fifteen at the latest.  I have to go to the home environment of Mr. Lalo Schifrin, to pick up a signed musical quote from Dirty Harry for our silent auction.  I may even get in on the bidding for that.

Plumber is "on his way".  Hopefully, he's not too far from here.

I shall then have to vamoose or, at the very least, vamelephant, so keep the home fries burning until my returning, and let's send November out with a bang, not a whimper.

I am about to air my ignorance...what is a "musical quote"?

I need to win Powerball to afford all the DVDs next week. Those Disney tins come out next week along with the second season of MURDER SHE WROTE and the third season of GREEN ACRES.

And for those who like more modern things, CINDERELLA MAN is released next week, too.

I am about to air my ignorance...what is a "musical quote"?

It's usually a hand-drawn representation of a few bars of music with the notes from one of the composer's well-known tunes/compositions pencilled in...and autographed above or below.

See the sheet music illustration below...and note Vic Mizzy's own contribution at the bottom of the music.

Sounds to me like the heating element has burned out on the water heater (if it's electric). I had a friend who knew about such things and replaced mine about 7 years ago and it has functioned perfectly ever since. It was a cheap part - $15 maybe as opposed to buying an entire new hot water heater.

A signed piece of music, usually a bar or two.

HARRY POTTER was even better the second time around. I caught a fair amount of dialogue I missed the first time, and characters took on more dimension once I sorted everyone out.

I saw it in a different theater than the first time, and this theater's sound system was better adjusted. The bass was also much deeper.

Oy! Such an afternoon I've had.  Some ass left a wad of chewed gum on the subway seat, and of course I sat on it.  I've been removing gum from a chair and my pants most of the afternoon, between dealing with bouts of IRS tsuris to keep my accountant happy.

And now, ladies and gents, Mario Frangoulis . . .

My boss has "left for lunch" and then will visit, unnecessarily (I add), a site one of our people spent all morning at following a burst water main.  No damage was done to County property.

Landlord just has to clean up the water and then bill whoever pays for things that happen when main's burst and cause damage in surrounding buildings.

But...overkill, here we come. Like her diseased self is going to be able to contribute anything to what has already been done...!!!

I insisted she go home from there...but she insisted that she will be back to check her e-mails (which she can do from home, but never mind the logic).

Gum Removing tips:

Ice cube.... freeze it and then it should come off easily, although you may have a wey\t spot to deal with for a bit....

Peanut butter...but then you have peanut butter to clean off yor pants!

Goo Gone....although depending on your pants it may remove some of the color....

I take it the "freeze it" comment was not for the "ice cube" but the gum??

And, Larry, I recommend that if you try any of these remedies that you find a private place and remove your trousers.

No point in throwing your back out...!

Actually, we don't have the lottery (yet) in NC. It's slated to start in 2006, but the Powerball aspect won't kick in until later.

For those who have been wondering what will happen to Fox's nightly TV schedule once AMERICAN IDOL returns, here's what I just found out in VARIETY:

"American Idol" returns Tuesday, Jan. 17. A special two-hour edition airs Jan. 18.

"Bones" moves to its 9 p.m. Wednesday timeslot Jan. 25.

"'70s" and "Stacked" bow on Thursdays March 2.

"Trading Spouses" shifts to Fridays on Jan. 6.

"Skating with Celebrities" premieres Jan. 23. "Prison Break" returns with original episodes March 20 at Monday 8 p.m.

"House" remains on Tuesdays at 9 p.m.

Looks like the IDOL results shows will all be an hour this season. I'll be missing them, even though they will begin at 8 when I don't watch anything else.

But now that has BONES opposite LOST and VERONICA MARS for me.  :(
