Oh my....just howlow are your expectations, DR FJL?  "The Lesson" was pretty scary.....or maybe it's just because Dauntless is so old it makes him seem simple minded.

And who is that ... that guy playing the Wizard.  Ugh!

I must confess we're a little predisposed in favor of Kathleen Marshall in this room, though.

Also, having done VERY few interviews, but with Skip having done a few of them, I know that you sometimes have to put a spin on things when you can't get exactly what you want.  It's possible Carol Burnett had figured out with her co-producers what they would say to explain the casting and the fact that they probably did bring in a lot of women to audition.  It may be spin to explain their using a name like Ullman as opposed to the exact gospel truth.  I'm only guessing, though.

New song by Burnett.....  Did Mary Rodgers write this?  I think she's listened to Rose's Turn too many times.

DR elmore - More undecipherable writing?  I thought you were putting the project to bed?  In any case...  If I don't make it up tomorrow, I will not be up there until the second week of January.  So...  Can it wait until then?  If not, could you scan it and e-mail me the writing in question?

I could fax it.

The show is campy, so we bought the simple-mindedness of Dauntless, I guess.

As to Edward Hibbert, one of our group made a film with Hibbert and we're finding him a lot of fun, but maybe it's predisposition to liking him.

Golly, the new number for Burnett is sick, and I mean that in a good way. :)

It's a stripper number with her son's baby shoes.  Gosh!

Edward Hibbert....hmmmmm.

Sorry I'm not liking it as much as you and your friends, DR FJL.  Maybe I would if I knew some of the people....but I just remember having such fun doing the show with a bunch of High School and College Kids...and the unbridled joy that can result from the material....even in a barn in the middle of a field in Putnam County....

Sorry if Hibbert is a nice guy - his "shtick" palls for me.....quickly and repeatedly.  I run from anything I see him in.

I'm clearly home from the Big Do chez Rodzinski and TPunk, which had several sparkling friends whose company I enjoyed immensely.  Walty and Kilbot were lovely, and I saw Michael Barnum's guest bed which DRs R&TPunk have left littered with DRMBarnum's old copies of The Young Physique and Physique Pictorial.

I watched the ONCE UPON A MATTRESS special up to "The Swamps of Home" and fled, infuriated by the fact it was neither broad nor silly enough and I missed the cut music.  I wasn't impressed by direction or choreography or the new arrangements which certainly garnered a big credit for Michael Kosarin and Danny Troob.  I didn't mind the cast; after all, Queen Agravaine's been holding this marriage off for a long time.

Edward Hibbert....hmmmmm.

I've liked his work in the original production of JEFFREY, but I liked Patrick Stewart better in the film.  I also thought he was good on FRASER, but I'm not always crazy about his work, so I'm in DRJRand55's corner here.  Where's the Minstrel?  I hoped we'd get ""The Minstrel, The Jester, and I" or whatever it's called.

DRJRand55, thanks for the comment about the Welcome Christmas sequence; I loved the Christmas Spectacular, and I'm flattered to be the final section of the show before it turns into The Nativity.  I think the whole recording of the 1998 edition is quite wondereful.

The Minstrel and Jester and I was just ONE of the numbers missing....but that's okay.

I just hope this isn't seen as the "definitive" version of the musical.

I'm afraid Miss Marshall, other than sharing a name with her brother Rob, doesn't have any of his creativity, and how they let her DIRECT a FILM is beyond comprehension.   She's a very nice lady who is so clearly out of her element it's not even funny.  She doesn't know anything about cameras or editing, and so the cameraman and the editors do it, and then I'm quite certain that the ham-fisted producers have their say, too.

And the "definitive" version???  When you cut Opening For A Princess then the word "definitive" has no meaning.

And "where are we going to find someone in their twenties with the comedy chops and the ability to sing it"???  Is she mad?  Right off the top of my head I nominate Leslie Kritzer.

They never even looked at those kinds of people.  They wanted a "name" and they got one who is thirty years too old for the part.  Someone on that same message board yesterday actually said with a straight face that Miss Ullman was forty-five.  It even said so on the imdb, he said.  I asked him how old he thought Bernadette Peters was.  I also informed him that if Miss Ullman was forty-five then I was forty-five and that I was most assuredly not forty-five.  Then he said that Harrison Ford was fifty-five.  I said if Harrison Ford was fifty-five then I was fifty-five and that I was most assuredly not fifty-five.  Mr. Ford and I shared the same manager for years - he wasn't YOUNGER than me, that much I can tell you.  He was at least eight years older, maybe a bit more.

Well I began my house hunt today and it is taking off fast and furiously.  Turns out there are really some great houses here going for next to nothing. Some friends told me about an incredible house that I'm trying to get an appointment to see tomorrow.  It's probably more house than I need, but if it's anything close to what they are telling me it is (the internet photos look great) and it's still on the market, I may just have to make an offer. This house just can't last long.

RE:ages.

When I was 8 years old, Francesca Hilton (daughter of Zsa Zsa) was on Tv at age fifteen.  Later she was on TV....I was 20 and she was 19!  What is in that water out there?
