Anybody else remember The Three Suns?  Their instrumental Christmas Album is a LOT of fun, too.

Lots of cooking going on in the Pulliam kitchen today.  My mom is going to make some pies...and she has a fruitcake to bake, as well.

I'm doing lunch...orzo with a combo of pork, asparagus, mushroom and cherry tomatoes sauteed in olive oil with garlic.

Something different for my mom...and a variation of a dish I had a month ago in Oakland.

That's all for now.

Everyone be safe...stay warm if you're in the cold.  Stay dry if it's raining.

Stay happy even when things get blue.

Former Mouseketeer who became a minister?

Well we know it isn't jailbird Darlene Gillespie or roustabout Lonnie Burr.

Hmmmm.....Dennis or Jay?

LOL! This guy wasn't a Mouseketeer! He is Roger Mobley star of Disney's THE ADVENTURES OF GALLAGHER series of films/shows and THE LOVES OF WILLADEAN. Being drafted during the Vietnam war ended his acting career which had started in the late 50s with the TV series FURY.

I only have the Johnny Mathis Christmas album on an aduio cassette and consequently don't remember to pull it out and listen at holiday time. I do like it.

And I adore Leroy Anderson's "Sleigh Ride" played instrumentally by the Boston Pops. When words were added, they're fun, but the instrumental version, which is simply winter-themed, is a great favorite.

This is the song I would always play when I'd get in from the last day of school before Christmas holidays started.

I used to have a tape of the Cloverdale High School band playing SLEIGH RIDE....whew!  Enthusiasm counts, for sure!  ;D

I remember THE THREE SUNS. A little bit of them go a long way...but I have not heard their Christmas album, which I might enjoy...at least I don't think I have heard it...hmmm.

Favorite Christmas movies:

WHITE CHRISTMAS
CURSE OF THE CAT PEOPLE (it takes place during Christmas)
IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE
MARCH OF THE WOODEN SOLDIERS

Well, I was supposed to get a UPS package today via Next Day Air.  But the tracking on the UPS site has already rescheduled the delivery for tomorrow.  This is possibly understandable, but it does mean they already know at 11:45 in the morning that they're not even going to TRY to honor their Next Day service.  (The site does point out that delivery guarantees are irrelevant in cases like this.)

I think Roger did 3 or 4 different Gallagher shows...I have it all written down someplace.

By the way, the interview went nicely. He was fun to talk to. He is from Indiana, by the way JRand55! Now lives in Texas.

He was also in EMIL AND THE DETECTIVES with Bryan Russell.

Favorite Christmas movies:
A Christmas Story
Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas
Scrooge with Albert Finney
It's a Wonderful Life

One of my favorite Christmas albums growing up was this:

And you can get it on Amazon.com for as little as $39.95 (or as much as $199!!)

Favorite Christmas Songs:
All Those Christmas Clichés (by Lainie Kazan from "A Cabaret Noël")
Be A Santa (sung by Michelle Nicastro, our very own Guy Haines and taps by Niki Harris)
Happy Holiday (I just got The Manhattan Transfer's Christmas DVD and they're fabulous!)
I Watch You Sleeping (by Frances Ruffelle from "Save the Children")
Sleigh Ride (Janis Siegel's version from the aforementioned TMT Christmas DVD totally rocks!  I also love Jim Nabors' version)

I also have both The Manhattan Transfer's Christmas CDs (the second one, "An Acapella Christmas" was released only in Japan!) and they are wonderful!

Emil & the Detectives is the one I remember MOST!!  I didn't know he was from Indiana, but I know we are close to the same age!  I think.

Jim Nabors Christmas!

Of course we have the Bonanza Christmas LP!

I think I said Merry Christmas, Baby...in my list, but of course I mean
Merry Christmas, Darling by Carpenters.  Whew!

Remember all the compilation albums you could get at your local "Firestone" dealer or from Kraft or your local "Ford" dealer?

Does anyone still wear an accordian?

I was hoping I'd have been right about the strike, but sadly, the little game is being played.  It's like watching two junior high school debate teams go at each other, except the junior high schoolers are more mature and have more decorum and class.

The response to the LACC show, for the most part, has been incredible.  Some, like me, think it was an hour too long, but even those people really enjoyed themeselves.  I think the handful of people who hadn't gone there might have been a bit weary by the end, but everyone else has professed to have a grand time.

No, there is no set time to learn lines, but most directors have cut-off points.  Some actors love to get off book quickly and feel that's the only way they can really do their work - I'm one of them.  Others like to have the safety blanket as long as possible, but the ones who really abuse that make it difficult on all the other actors.

Just visited a theater chat board - would you like to know how many posts there are about the transit strike?  Two.  Yes, two.  The first asks if shows will be affected, the response states that everyone should support shows that might be hurt.  Do these people live in the real world?  That's all they can think about?  Not the stranded people, the people who can't get to WORK, who will lose money because of it, etc?  No, everyone should just go spend 100 bucks and support the shows.  I just sit and scratch my head sometimes.
