Fine just sit there watching DVD's  when I desperately need cleaning assistance!

 >:(

I expect you're going to use that old excuse "well I'mm 800 miles away!"  ;D

Well, you have a point there, but I have plenty to clean here. Tomorrow is the dreaded kitchen mopping, and I'm determined to do it tomorrow morning after I read the newspaper to get it out of the way so I can enjoy the rest of Christmas Eve day and evening.

Well, it probably wouldn't work for you. You have A LIFE!

I can schedule my cleaning regularly because there is no one here to dirty things up but me!

It's the film biography of jazz trumpeter Red Nichols. This band was called "The Five Pennies," and they were very popular during the 1920s. He had such folks working for him as Glenn Miller, Gene Krupa, the Dorsey Brothers, etc. They all went on to great, great fame heading their own bands as "Red" got out of the business.

Back in my working days when I didn't have time to clean, I'd put down rugs in the kitchen to hide how dirty the floor was!

Thank you!! I knew I knew it!  But every time you would mention it I would start thinking of Penny Serenade even though I knew that was an entirely different picture and it was drivingme nuts!! (not that far a trip!)

If you can find a Wal-Mart Super Center (that we've been talking about today), they'd have them. They sell everything!

:)

There are a few Walmarts  on Long Island (they are rewlatively recent arrivals in the past 5 - 8 years)  but the nearest is about 15 miles away which on Long Island on Christmas Eve  means a hour trip  not to mention what the parking lot and store itself would be like when I got there!

Guess I'll be picking up extra bread crumbs at the grocery tomorrow!

If we throw crumbs on the kitchen floor, the dogs are sure to give the kitchen floor a once-over with their tongues - a real freshly waxed look every time.

Thank you one and all for remembering my birthday. It was a smashing time filled with Sangria and Peking Duck. It was a whole multicultural experience let me tell you..

[move=left,scroll,6,transparent,100%]HAPPY BIRTHDAY(S) TO ONE AND ALL AND ALSO ALL AND ONE (I THINK I MISSED A FEW OVER THE LAST FEW DAYS).[/move]

It has been quite the challenge to keep two very energetic young boys entertained on these horribly rainy days when we're pretty much trapped inside, hence my E&T-ness.

As I will be doing same tomorrow and Sunday as well as playing at my church gig (not being a Walmart sized church, it's actually staying open for Christmas, imagine that--don't even get me started on the utter hypocrisy of these Evangelical megachurches closing on Christmas--oops, too late  ;D), I also wish everyone the happiest of whatever holiday you're celebrating.

I keep coming on after midnight to read the new notes, but then I realize that BK and I are no longer in the same time zone and it won't happen for another three hours.  No more late night posting frenzies!

Thanks everyone for the good wishes on my house.

Happy Birthday WFO and Craig

It's been a very long day. I was in court for most of it, the last hearing starting at 2:00 pm and ending at 6:00 pm, but it's the time of year that I can generally still get a decent deal for my clients and this worked out well for James, so that's cool.   I especially appreciated the big hug and special thank you from his wife.  It's nice to be appreciated.

Then it was off to a wonderful Christmas get together with good friends. We celebrated my house and Christmas and just being together.

I'm very sleepy and have done nothing to get ready to leave tomorrow, but leave tomorrow I must, so it's time for sleep.   At least I don't go back to work until January 3  Cool beans

Well, I was supposed to start house-sitting tonight, but the people called and said that they're not leaving until the morning...road conditions, you know.  Anyway, I'm here now and listening to Donald's "Broadway Radio Show" with this week's topic:

I've just started but so far, so good.  "We Need a Little Christmas" sung by Lynette Perry was the first song and now Jason Graae is singing "Christmas Gifts." ;D

JRand,  Dragonwyck reminds me of the beer my dad made. It was one of those home brews and he was looking for a name. So we did anagrams of his name and ended up with Drogon Fyshrot
I hate to say it, but that's pretty much what it tasted like!

Don't know about you, but I am "terribly" saddened by this news!

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on Monday told officials in his hometown in Austria to remove his name from a sports stadium and stop using his identity to promote the city. The governor's request came after politicians in Graz began a petition drive to rename the stadium, reacting to Schwarzenegger's decision last week to deny clemency to condemned inmate Stanley Tookie Williams. Opposition to the death penalty is strong in Austria.

In a letter that began "Dear Mister Mayor," Schwarzenegger said he decided to spare the Graz city council "further concern" should he be forced to make other clemency decisions while he's governor. Another inmate is scheduled to be executed in California Jan. 17.

"In all likelihood, during my term as governor, I will have to make similar and equally difficult decisions," Schwarzenegger said in the letter. "To spare the responsible politicians of the city of Graz further concern, I withdraw from them as of this day the right to use my name in association with the Liebenauer Stadium."

The stadium was renamed for the former Hollywood star in 1997. He asked that the lettering be removed by year's end.

Schwarzenegger spokeswoman Margita Thompson said the letter was faxed Monday to the Graz city hall. The city council was expected to take up the matter next month.

In the letter, Schwarzenegger also said he would no longer permit the use of his name "to advertise or promote the city of Graz in any way" and would return the city's "ring of honor."

The ring was given to him in a ceremony in Graz in 1999. At the time, Schwarzenegger said he considered it "a token of sincere friendship between my hometown and me."

"Since, however, the official Graz appears to no longer accept me as one of their own, this ring has lost its meaning and value to me. It is already in the mail," the governor wrote.

I believe they should put that ring on Ebay to get money to pay for the removal of the lettering from the stadium! Ah!!
