Next up on the DVD front was National Lampoon's CHRISTMAS VACATION.

Chevy Chase was so alternately goggled eyed over-the-top  and then sad sack non-emoting that the film was pretty unbearable when he was on-screen (which was most of the film). I remember thinking the first VACATION was pretty funny (the one where Imogene Coca dies), but this one wasn't. Interesting that the actor who plays his son in CHRISTMAS VACATION plays Andrew on DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES now. The daughter, of course, was Juliette Lewis before her breakthrough Oscar-nominated performance in CAPE FEAR.

The transfer was pretty lacking, too, though this was the first DVD release of the film, not the remastered version currently in stores.

Then, I put in WHITE CHRISTMAS. I got through "Count Your Blessings" before I saved my place to return to it later this evening.

Always wonderfully entertaining.

DR MBARNUM is that Van Williams aka The Green Hornet?

Yes. He must be doing his Edd Byrnes imitation.

PennyO, you hair is beautiful! And Panni...very nice to see her smiling face...I do hope there were no collapsing racks during the partay (a long ago HHW/DRPanni reference).

That is EXACTLY where I stopped as well DRMATTH - so that I could finish watching the fabulous Mexican Cabareteria film sent me by DRMBARNUM.
En Carne Viva - The RAW Life.  Whew!

MBARNUM make sure you watch the Trailers on this disc - Santo the Wrestler fights some guys from space who can make themselves invisible, and it all ends up - in the ring.  Also a trailer for an interesting film called Quinceaneros.....I think it means graduation....but it looks GREAT!   8)

Mexican starlet has just discovered that the father of her fiance is actually HER father as well!

Starlet:  My god, how can there be so much unhappiness?

Father:  I am the one who should be crying these tears.

Yea, uh huh, I bet.  Great fun movie with some really good musical numbers, done by an actress who is suprisingly GRACELESS for a character renowned for her dancing!

Visit with darling daughter is ending, and I shall now be on my way to Nick Redman's home environment.  Keep the home fries burning.  I won't be too long.

Happy Holidays to all.  I may not post as much as I used to, but I still read this every day and I still think BK's A BROADWAY CHRISTMAS and A HOLLYWOOD CHRISTMAS are two of the three best Christmas CDs im my collection.  (FYI, the third is A JOHN WATERS CHRISTMAS).

Vibes to a special man in Tacoma who is not feeling well this day. Hint - it's not Jed.
