Tonight I watched the second installment of BLEAK HOUSE and the hour flew by too quickly.  As far as I'm concerned, this mini-series is running neck and neck with LOST as the best thing on TV right now.  I hope that the creators will turn their attention to Dickens' HARD TIMES in the future.

I saw today that a Cary Grant boxed set of DVDs is coming out next week. The box contains HOLIDAY which I really, really like and want. However, it's not being sold separately, and I already have several of the films contained in the box (THE AWFUL TRUTH, HIS GIRL FRIDAY). I don't know if they've remastered that awful transfer of THE AWFUL TRUTH, but HIS GIRL FRIDAY couldn't look any better.

So, I guess I'll have to pass on the box and make my own DVD of HOLIDAY the next time TCM shows it.

Well... We had a very interesting audience tonight...

There was a group of "Close Up" kids tonight - about 200 of them - and they had to be the most unruly, misbehaving bunch of kids we've ever had.  They were talking to each other - from across the stage!  (We're in the round, so... they were mouthing things to each other.)  And then a bunch of them decided to sit in the boxes so they could be "cool", and also get a good nap in.  UGH!  *Close Up brings kids in from all over the place, and they plan a day or two of activities for them in DC.  In other words, the kids get "stuck" with whatever happens to be on the itinerary for them that day.  Nothing like having a bunch of "unwilling" audience members in those seats.

...And then there was the lady who apparently passed out during the first act.  Her friends had thought she had just fallen asleep, but then they noticed that she had some vomit on her chin... So...

RE: Chinese Food - I've usually found the cheaper the food (cost-wise), the better it is.  Thankfully, there are two "window service" places right near my apartment in NYC.  That's some good eatin'!

Before VCRs came in, a local theater in town would let us bring our ninth graders in and show them ROMEO AND JULIET after we had studied it. That was always an impossible field trip. Most didn't mind being away from school, but they didn't want to sit in a theater and watch Shakespeare. I was glad once VCRs came in that I could show excerpts to my class and not watch the whole thing. I encouraged them to rent it themselves if they wanted to see it all.

Just watched the LUCY SHOW episode where Lucy tries to get Jack Benny to put his money in the bank where she works...oh, my golly that is one of the funniest episodes of any show I have ever seen!

I even vaguely recall it from my childhood!

DakotaCelt: What loverly pictures. I, too, am a photography enthusiast. I'm not very good, but I'm learning. :)

The new roommate installation in the Bratton Museum of Housing and Cohabitation is complete and I must say, so far things look good. He's a nice kid - only 23 - and seems to have a good head on his shoulders. He even managed to get the DVD player hooked up to the cable box so we can watch movies again.

Speaking of movies - NetFlix is starting to disappoint me. I've gotten two - count 'em, TWO - copies of Disney's "The Rescuers" and both of them have been cracked. TWO! These are not the first discs I've received from them that have been broken. Since moving into this apartment, I've received at least five discs that were either severely cracked or just totally broken in half. Methinks they may be getting too big for their breeches and quality control is going down the toilet. Still, they get the movies to me quickly and send out replacements faster than I can send the broken ones back, so I shouldn't complain...too much.

Tomorrow night I do believe my friend and I are going to see "TransAmerica." No, not the Greek. He and I are going to see the final invited dress rehearsal of  RING OF FIRE, the new Johnny Cash revusical, on Tuesday night and my coworker, Koji, and I will be seeing BAREFOOT IN THE PARK on Wednesday. Very exciting. In addition to all that hullabaloo, I'm going back to Boston on Friday for a weekend getaway with Julie. She's making me a comfort food feast for Friday night complete with casseroles and pie. Yum! :)

;)

*And my dad made a Roast Leg of Lamb tonight for dinner... Which will be my lunch tomorrow.

Well, time for me to stretch a bit... I had another good run between shows, but as I've discovered, my body still is not used to be more limber - my hamstrings still have a tendency to "lock up".  So...

Goodnight.
