DR's Donald and Kerry - Happy Happy Happy Happy Birthdays!! (that's 2 apiece...)

Another glorious day in LA. gosh I love it. I've been slowly moving into the loft in the Marina... it looks like Charles (the ex...) and I will be sharing it. We have agreed to be good room mates - at least until someone's old tapes begin playing... at which point we'll have a fine chat about it. And whoever wants to bring "company" home gives the other roomie some bit of time to skedaddle. We'll see...

And I have done 4 auditions, and another coming up on Monday. Looks like the ol' curse is broken. The Chuckster sang an audition yesterday - first one in more than 2 decades. Reinstated his Equity card, having taken an honorable withdrawal in 1974. He was a fraid this would happen!!! I bet he gets a gig before I do!!!

I'll be checkin' back in as the Birthday festivities get slammin'.

Amid reruns of some favorite shows like LOST and LAW & ORDER are some new episodes tonight, too!

I'm looking forward to VERONICA MARS, BONES, and CSI: NY.

And I'm looking forward to seeing last night's THE CLOSER.

I've been very surprised and disappointed that Kyra Sedgwick's performance in this series hasn't won her any of the awards she's been nominated for lately. She's simply wonderful. Maybe the Emmy will smile her way.

I have just turned the page on my calendar and am admiring a lovely picture of the Tree Ferns on the road near Warburton, Victoria, Australia.

I just got an email from my third roommate, who is planning to move out *sometime* this month. She wanted to ask if it'd be OK for the new roommate, her replacement, to move in TONIGHT! Nothing like a little short notice to start your day. Maybe I'm a bit sensitive right now, but I think it's very inconsiderate to wait to the last minute to ask that....

TOD:

I of course know the superstition against saying "Good Luck" and similar  sentiments to someone about to perform on the stage, hence "Break a Leg".....

Does that extend to how one should appropriately offer  well wishes to someone about to auditon for a part?

It sounds very calculated to me. Waiting until the last minute assumes you wouldn't have the heart to say no and leave someone stranded in the cold. Not a friend in my book.

On the other hand...do you need the rent money from this third roommate?

She might have moved and left you hanging....

Perhaps the new roomate just got last minute notice that she/he was being bumped from their current quarters

Perhaps they meant to ask you over the weekend but you were away and they forgot.

Perhaps they are inconsiderate boobs

Perhaps you need a ((((HUG))))

She just emailed me again and said that he called last night and left her a message asking if he could move in tonight and that this is the first chance she's had to get to a computer to email me and the other roommate. Well here's a clue...pick up the f**king phone and CALL US! She's got both of our phone numbers. How hard would it have been to pick up the phone and call so that we could have at least cleaned up the apartment a little bit before he moves in? Or had time to clear out a shelf in the kitchen for him. Or just had time to get used to the idea that someone new was moving into our living space? This is yet another reason why I hate living with roommates. It's a good thing she's moving out... Of course, we still don't know when she's planning to DO that, but I'm guessing she'll let us know a few minutes before she starts packing up the truck.  ::)

Ethel Smith plays the organ in a couple of MGM movies of the late 40's....I think I remember her especially from EASY TO WED....her playing style is best described as ... hmmm ... orgasmic.

Which of course reminds me of the most famous introduction of banjo virtuoso Eddie Peabody:

"And now, ladies and gentlemen, Eddie Playbody will pee for us."

DRJASON - maybe the new room mate is an out of work Soap Star!!  There could be a bright side to this.  He could also be Mr Right!

The new roommate, while cute, is no soap star, and he plays for the other team, so no luck there. ::)
