Sort of like the uncouth baseball player.

Bad Butch the bungling Belch 'em  Batter.

I have so much to learn. So little time.

Colin is having doubts about coping in New York.
It's not just that he has met Jose.

How wonderful to be an inspiration!

Better than being an... expiration, I guess! ;)

I tried your tongue-twister from post #240, Tom.   Oh my word, how I bungled the word "bungling."

I've just modified an earlier post.. I confused "Crash" with "Hustle and Flow"

At 60 I have no idea as to what a title like "Carbon 15's, A.K.'s & Mac 11's" might mean.

Boyz N Da Hood.  Are they the illegitimate sons of Maid Marion.

I know so little.

Trivia.. Dylan offered the song to the Everly Brothers who said they did not understand it.  They recorded it some thirty years later.  Why do I bother remembering such things?

The question is: why do you bRother remembering?! :)

Back in the late 60's a song called "LA LA LA" won the Eurovison song contest. It was the entry from Spain.

Lesley Gore recorded the song for the American market!

Did it become "L.A L.A L.A "???????

The "Hard Out Here for a Pimp" performers are also doing a cover of the Bob Dylan song.  Thy're getting permission to change the title to "Lay, b**tchm****rf****era***s, lay."

:)

I won't even attempt to translate that in French! No, sir! :)

All the stories but one take place in LA - in the one that doesn't, the main couple are vacationing from LA.

Isn't "L.A.-lujah" the song that Steve and Eydie were trying to push here in the U.S.?

I remember the truly great Hebrew lyric

"Hallelujah,
Al mah she-ha-yah, yah
U-ma she-od lo ha-yah
Hallelujah"

becoming something silly like:

"Hallelujah
The bells will go ringing
And singing from dawn 'til night
Hallelujah!"

The Hebrew lyric was extraordinarily.  I wonder which came first, the Hebrew or the English.

I'm on page 8 of my paper in case anyone is keeping track... just 4-5 more to go.

Did you mention F. Scott Fitzgerald yet?

DR Cillaliz - is it snowing at your house yet?  We are under a Winter Storm Watch for Monday evening into Tuesday morning.  Fortunately, no one in my family will be on the road then.  DH Richard should be home tomorrow afternoon, as should DN Laura.  In fact, they'll probably pass on the highway somewhere in Indiana tomorrow.  My cousins are planning to leave Tuesday for Pittsburgh to visit their dad, but will watch the conditions and adjust their plans if necessary.

No, they keep saying it's coming, but it's all staying west of us so far. They are getting nailed and we haven't gotten anything.  Now, if it all wants to fall overnight and make it impossible to go to work in the morning, I wouldn't complain

Absolument!

I believe Milk & Honey sang the lyrics in both languages!

DR Tomovoz can confirm that; he's the Eurovision expert!

Mireille Mathieu - and I, when I was an entertainer ;D -- sang the French version

Hallelujah
Hallelujah, sing a song
Hallelujah, we'll follow along
With a simple word, a single word
We bless the sky, the tree, the bird
And we fill our heart with joy, Hallelujah

Hallelujah, sounds of love
Hallelujah, the sunshine above
Hallelujah, the bells will go ringin'
And dingin' from dawn till night, Hallelujah

Hallelujah, day by day
Hallelujah, don't throw it away
Fly and spread your wings, have a try
Be free again like a butterfly
Come along and sing with us, Hallelujah

Hallelujah, sounds of love
Hallelujah, the sunshine above
Hallelujah, the bells will go ringin'
And dingin' from dawn till night, Hallelujah

Hallelujah, hand in hand
Hallelujah, all over the land
Hallelujah, let's try from the start
And sing it with all our heart, Hallelujah

Hallelujah, sounds of love
Hallelujah, the sunshine above
Hallelujah, the bells will go ringin'
And dingin' from dawn till night, Hallelujah

Hallelujah, the bells will go ringin'
And dingin' from dawn till night, Hallelujah

Hallelujah was written by Kobi Ashrat and Shimrit Orr.
I suspect it was English first! They wanted a hit!!

Whoop that trick, my bad.  Steve and Eydie were singing "dinging from dawn 'til night" rather than "singing from dawn 'til night."   Much better!  :)

I remember the ovation on the Carson show, and everyone shouting "One more hallelujah!"  Seriously.
