Well, you've read the notes, the notes were bursting with words, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - I tell you, I'm beginning to think these fershluganah cows are never coming home, aren't you?

Also for me:

9/11, including watching the towers fall and then later in the day as we walked over to the Hudson River we saw another of the buildings which had been burning all day (it was damaged from the falling of the towers) crumble down like the towers.

JFKs shooting and funeral and the shooting of Lee Harvey Oswald.

On a more pleasant note, watching the very first moon walk

Good Morning!

I, too, would have to say the events of 9/11.  I still remember almost heading back to bed, and turning off "The Today Show", when they showed the footage of the first plane going into the Towers.  If I'm remembering correctly, they didn't catch it live, they showed some tape that one of their cameras had just caught.  -And how for a couple of minutes - at least until the second plane hit - that most people thought it was just a freak accident.

On a happier note - which, unfortunately, reminds me of a sadder event - the launch of the first Space Shuttle.

Snowy Tuesday morning greetings!  We had plans to meet my cousins for breakfast before they head to Pittsburgh and I head to work.  Their trip has been postponed until later today or tomorrow because it's snowing pretty hard, so we've cancelled breakfast for today.  Now I'm stewing about the fact that I have to drive to work in a couple of hours.

TOD:

The 9/11 coverage--nothing else comes close.  Thank God for Tom Brokow's calming presence (even though he appeared to age ten years that week.)

And like DR Ben, I'll mention the first moon walk.  I think it was the last time my entire immediate family was gathered together watching something momentous on TV.

Does anyone else seem to confuse Leelee Sobieski (mentioned in BK's notes) with Helen Hunt?  They just remind me of each other.

Lawyers should never ask a Southern grandma a question if they aren't  prepared for the answer. In a trial, a Southern small-town prosecuting attorney called his first witness, a grandmotherly, elderly woman to the stand.

He approached her and asked, "Mrs. Jones, do you know me?"

She responded, "Why, yes, I do know you, Mr. Williams. I've known you since you were a young boy, and frankly, you've been a big disappointment to me. You lie, you cheat on your wife, you manipulate people and talk about them behind their backs. You think you're a big shot when you haven't the brains to realize you never will amount to anything more than a two-bit paper pusher. Yes, I know you."

The lawyer was stunned! Not knowing what else to do, he pointed across the room and asked, "Mrs. Jones, do you know the defense attorney?"

She again replied, "Why, yes, I do. I've known Mr. Bradley since he was a youngster, too. He's lazy, bigoted, and he has a drinking problem. He can't build a normal relationship with anyone and his law practice is one of the worst in the entire state. Not to mention he cheated on his wife with three different women one of them was your wife. Yes, I know him."

The defense attorney almost died. The judge asked both counselors to approach the bench, and in a very quiet voice, said, "If either of you asks her if she knows me, I'll throw you in jail for contempt."

Oh yes.  When we first saw her, when she was a child actress, Vixdad and I both thought that the two of them should be cast in something as mother and daughter or perhaps as sisters.  Not only do they look similar but we think they sound and move very similarly as well....

Good morning, all!  I've been busy fighting with a moron from the Cast Recording list, and here I am!  A bit achey but unbowed.  I'm staying in today except for a brief trip to the post office in around 10 minutes.

TOD:  I remember how shocking the killing of Lee Harvey Oswld was, and how it was repeated over and over that November weekend.  Strangely, I have little memories of the rest of that weekend.

DRs MichaelShayne and Ben have already covered 9/11 and other events.

Deb, you jogged my memory. I do remember the Beatles on Ed Sullivan and thinking how cool!!!

I also remember with unabashed glee the resignation of Mr. Nixon. A great day in American history!

The Space Shuttle disaster was so sad. I am no fan of Mr. Reagan or his presidency but he shone during those sad moments in the same way that Rudy Giuliani became the mayor he should have been during 9/11.

The Space Shuttle disaster was so sad. I

It was odd that I was home watching it.  I was sick wit the flu AND the furnance was broken.  Since I was home sick anyway I told my landlord to go to work and I would let the furnance man in.

I always was interested in the space program so I deceid to turnon CNN and watch the launch... it had been heralded in all the papers because the first civilian, the school teacher , was going on the flight.

The funrance man arrived just as the countdwon began and we had to pas teh TV to get to the furnace, he asked if I minded if he watched the takeoff and of course I said no.  We stood there side by side watching and when the explosion occurred we just stood there staring at each other and both sat down on the couch.  We ended up sitting there holding hands, the tears rolling down both our faces....

Finally we recovered ourselves and made some tea for us and he fixed the furnance.

I remember coming home from work for lunch (I took an early lunch that day) and turning on the television. I was transfixed and then remembered that I was home for lunch. I called a friend at the office and told him what happened (this was well before listening to radios and the internet at the office). We were all shocked and saddened. I remember watching the explosion over and over again.

Just a quick note to say good morning before I have to tear off for a 10 am meeting, class and then work.....

some of the events I remember vividly are

9-11 --- I will never forget that day and images of the smoke coming out of WTC

Space Shuttle Challenger - I had come back from class and I was waiting for a freind to come back so we could go to lunch together and I was listening to the radio when I heard a report about ice on the shuttle. I turned on my roommate's telly and watched as the replay of the shuttle showed it exploding in teh sky.

1997 Flood in Grand Forks, ND as I watched the Water come over the Lincoln Drive dike and the Red River started to swallow up Grand Forks and East Grand Forks.

I remember reading about some of the things that some DRs are talking about but I do not recall them personally.
