BUT, I DIGRESS
« on: March 26, 2006, 12:16:01 AM »

Well, you've read the notes, the notes have digressed ad nauseum, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're just digressing now and then they'll be along.

And the word of the day is: FESTINATION!

Smoke on your pipe and put that in.

I'll need to check out the history of the Festi Nation.
I know it was relatively shortlived but I tend to confuse it with some of its neighbouring principalities with quite sordid histories and truly bizare religious practices.

Good morning, all!  And good morning, DR Tomovoz!  I am so glad to see daylight. I had two really frightening dreams last night:  one involved ghosts of massacred Native Americans attacking a group in Florida and the other involved a legendary (in his own mind) conductor.  The night before I had a horrible nightmare involving a vampire cult.  I assume this is all due to turbulence or whatever in my daily life, but damned if I can figure it out!

Today is a full day:  I'm off to the recording office very shortly, then a dance rehearsal for this Men's Chorus concert at 2:00.  I want to see the number before I score it.

TOD:  any legendary (in your own mind) nightmares from the DRs?

Good morning, DR Elmore. What am I doing up at 4 am? Funny you should ask. I had a nightmare (right on topic, this newbie!) Was dreaming about Star Jones, would you believe? Really. I won't even TRY to figure it out. Put it down to something I ate. ....Before I go back to bed, re the Word of the Day... In two weeks I'll be going to NY for the opening of FESTEN. Thus, when I head out from wonderful Burbank Airport, NY will be my Festination.

Hope you have a lovely day, DR Elmore.

Applause on your entrance - wonderful.  Of course in FATHER OF THE BRIDE, every night I was applauded on my Egress.

Loved DR CILLA LIZ'S story about the bouncing lamp - and all the other stage stories.

How many hours can your DVR records, DRMBARNUM?  Sounds like you have quite a selection there - and as you say finding time to watch it is something else.  Can you make DVD's or VHS tapes from the machine?

At 8:15 am this morning not one retail outlet in my town had a copy of the Indianapolis STAR newspaper.  I wonder what happened?  I noticed on the way home that the delivery copies were still laying in driveways all over town, so it is just the retail stores.

Some people were more desperate than I - practically in tears and wringing their hands...."No paper?  NO PAPER?  NO PAPER ANYWHERE IN TOWN!!!  NO PAPER!!!!!!"

It is a mystery.

Well it sounds like LIZA WITH A Z and SOUTH PACIFIC are a couple of DVD's I may have to have.  I loved the LIZA show when it first aired....the title was actually SINGER PRESENTS LIZA WITH A "Z".  I even bought the LP which I still have somewhere.

And I love SOUTH PACIFIC with a MAJOR exception....Mitzi Gaynor who is terrible, and blames Josh Logan for her awful lines readings.  This of course begs the question of what Logan was doing giving her line readings for ANYTHING GOES and THE "IT GIRL and THERE'S NO BUSINESS LIKE SHOW BUSINESS - because she does them all the same in those movies as well.

I'M SHOPPING FOR A NEW AGENT - that's the title of my new musical.

Such good news about DECEIT last night.  And of course the final weekend will be even more exciting.

DRJOSE must not even be home yet from all the parties.  I counted him six times in the Broadway.com footage....once you know where to look.  And he is the starting point of a nice pan right in one shot.

DR VIXMOM if you email me the pic of The Vixter and George, etc....I will resize and post it for you.

The South Pacific from the UK was it also the European version where
the scene between Nellie and Emile come before the Nothing Like a Dame scene as it was in the stage version?

Yes, many folks bought LIZA WITH A 'Z' on LP because in those pre-VCR days, that was the ONLY was you could have the experience of a favorite movie or TV show again (and we still do it with Broadway shows). I wore out my LIZA LP.

The remastered LIZA has repurposed the sound now to stereo (originally it was broadcast mono), and that should make it an even more thrilling experience to see again. I'm looking forward to it immensely.

I'll hold on to my OLD Fox non-anamorphic versions of THE KING & I, SOUTH PACIFIC, and CAROUSEL in case they screw up the mastering on the DVDs like they did with the Todd-AO OKLAHOMA!

BTW, I wonder if the Region 2 version of OKLAHOMA! is an enhanced transfer of the Todd-AO version?

A mixture of repeats and new episodes tonight on network TV. DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES is new, of course, and certainly THE SOPRANOS and CROSSING JORDAN. COLD CASE is a rerun and instead of a SUnday night movie, CBS is rerunning episodes of WITHOUT A TRACE and CSI in that two hour block.

Sunday morning greetings!  I fell asleep in front of the TV last night before 9pm, dragged myself to bed, and woke up more-or-less refreshed at 7:30 this morning.  Today, I'll be checking on my mom, who has been sick with a bad cold all week, and making Jello for DH Richard to eat this evening in preparation for his procedure tomorrow morning  :P.

Sometime today, I will play my Liza with a Z LP.

Good morning all!

I'm so glad that everything went better for you, BK!

Has anyone heard from our Broadway star, DR Jose?  I was hoping to sign on and read a whole report of the evening.

Vibes for DH Richard!

DRJOSE must be still sleeping.  It is after all only 11 am....and big Broadway stars don't get up much before 3 pm....at least in the movies.

Deanna Durbin is on TCM.  Her appeal was based a LOT on her music, but she certainly had a pleasant and charming screen personality as well.

TOD, Bad dreams.  I could write a book.   The scary part is that when I was younger, some had a habit of coming true.

I knew something big was going to happen the year I graduated from High School and was death part of it.  That was the year we found out my Dad had cancer.

I also have a recurring dream about a trip to or from Pittsburg.  Itís happened so often that I know the landmarks now.  There is a turn that I have make while in Pittsburg to make the drive back down to Florida.  I canít explain it but I know it so well.

Itís not an unpleasant journey. In fact, I enjoy it.   I donít ever remember what I do when I get to Pittsburgh.  I think I just drive there and back.  I don't know why.

And you know what is really neat about this?  (Well, for me anyway.)   I can honestly say I have been to the Palace theater.  I  saw Aida there.  :)
