Began the evening with a two hour retrospective of the year in figure skating on ESPN. Many of the performances I had seen during the skating season, but I hadn't watched the European championships at all, so I was glad to see those winners in the feature.

It was nice to see LIZA WITH A 'Z' again and put pictures with the music I've been listening to for 30+ years on the soundtrack LP.

I'll be curious to read what you folks getting the DVD will say about the transfer. The high def broadcast looked adequate in sharpness but just adequate. At 11, I started watching it again on the standard definition Showtime Channel, and it looked very soft and a little pale. I understand it had to undergo an extensive restoration to look even this good, but I'll be curious about the quality of the DVD.

Finished TOPSY-TURVY next. Have always loved the sequence where "The Mikado Song" is cut and the chorus rallies around Mr. Temple to ask it to be reinstated. Wonderful moment.

The film was a pleasure to watch again on the larger screen TV.

Speaking of Doris Day films, the concept of "sex points" were actually the focus of the well-known gay porn film WITH SEX YOU GET EGGROLL.  A true classic starring a porn star who went by the name Horace Day.  Its tagline was "See it once, you'll be hungry to see it again and again."

Francois - You're confusing him with Horatio Horsecollar.

Have returned from far away Sherwood and my grandneice Taylor's 4th birthday....the theme was princesses and all the little girls had on their finest party dresses...and special guest was Cinderella (hired by Taylor's mom)!

Tomorrow morning I drive mom down south to Rice Hill where once again I will meet my brother Dan and he will drive her the rest of the way to Medford.

It sure would be nice if my relations weren't spread out to the far corners of Oregon.

At least yours are in the same state...mine are in California and Germany!

Is this a slow news day here at haineshisway.com?  Yikes.  Back from an excellent show - certainly it was my best - I was completely relaxed and just had a great time.  Terrific audience, too.  We had a little afterparty, and now I'm home and I'm going to have a bite to eat and then write the notes, which will be up later.  Now, let's have a frenzy, shall we?

Back from the closing night of DECEIT. A full house, an excellent audience. Having seen the play back in January on opening night, I must say that there is a world of difference. And that world is round and slightly balding and called Kimmel. bk's performance brings humanity, humor and pathos to a character who, when I first saw the play, was in short supply of all those qualities. Congrats to bk. Time for the 21 year hiatus to end.

The closing night partay was pleasant. I'm not huge on those things, so I didn't stay for too long. Just long enough to chat a bit, fill up on a lot of cheese and some delicious dried apricots.
(I offered to take some photos for the site, but bk pulled a Greta Garbo, so you'll have to use your imaginations.)

All in all, a wonderful evening.

Sounds it like it was a splendid evening all around. I just finished slogging through Cheyenne Autumn for the second time today...

I've been watching "Saturday Night Live" (I haven't watched it in years) and the guest is Scarlett Johansson.  She's pretty funny.  Who knew? :)
