Oddly, this morning I received this evidence from a friend in Florida that bird flu has already struck in some parts:

It is bright and sunny out...OF COURSE!!!!

Now that the weekend is over and my stuff is paper mache... oh well less stuff for Dear Reader Laura to clean out of my basement when she comes to help cure me of my hoarding habit.

Not sure how I'm feeling today.  Had some moments last night when I began coughing and couldn't quite clear my throat....and again this morning at work...a tickle that wouldn't stop tickling.

Don't call me Elmo.

RLP's picture reminds me.  My SIL & BIL in Canada went home one day last summer to discover fifty  pink plastic flamingos on their front lawn along with a sign that said "You've been flocked!"  Apparently it was a fundraiser for a local youth group.  You paid them $30  to set these up on someone's lawn.  They would then come back and collect the flock within 24 hours and usually another $30 as the receiver of the flocking would usually retaliate or "flock" someone else.

Apparently it was quite successful and the youth group raised over $3000.00 over the summer

Hello.  I woke up yesterday morning , ran down to the basement laundry room only to discover that during the night someone had installed a indoor pool in the basement.  Unfortunately said someone did not first take the precaution of removing all my belongings from the said basement.

Several industrial sized hefty bags of sodden garbage (previously treasured keepsakes)  and several hours later I blame MattH.

You didn't build that weather dam high enough!

It is still cold and miserable her and promises to remain that way until at least Wednesday

Great review, FJL & Skip!!  And BK's mention at the end of the review is very nice, too.  Evidently, the reviewer knows what's going on!! ;D

TCB-GOOD VIBES!  How did your appointment go?

Tomovoz, I hope Maureen finds some comfort from her trip.

Ginny I thought you had reserved a room at the Comfort Inn for October, if not I suggest you follow your own advice & do so soon.

OK, OK, DR Jane!  I'll do it as soon as I get back to my desk (after answering phones for an hour)!

The reason I'd been putting off making that reservation is that I think the rates are outrageous!

Ginny as your said, not much better out there & if you book through their site we can all change to something better later on without any penalties.  Last year when I delayed the prices just kept going up.

Oh Ginny, have a good trip.

Thanks, Jane!

I may be E & T from here for a couple days if my hotel in Columbus does not have a business center where I can use a computer.  I know my Cleveland hotel has such a facility, so I'll be back Thursday, for sure!

Actually, I did see a news special on what to expect during pandemic of bird flu.

It IS depressing...especially since everyone is going to be exposed to it in some way or other...and "only the strong will survive" according to best medical guesses.

But...bottom line for now is that if it happens, it happens.   No one is prepared properly...no vaccines are out there...no one knows how to prepare a vaccine because no one knows what to expect from the mutated virus until it begins to affect the human population.

Be aware it will spread through the air, through touch, through sneezing, coughing, etc., etc.

DR Matt--did you get the issue of Entertainment Weekly a few weeks back that had the somewhat detailed photo of the map that Locke saw on the wall in the hatch?  Lots of interesting information there.  I think the photo is still viewable on the EW website.

I did get it, and I tore out the picture thinking I might want to refer to it later as more things become clear. Fascinating "graffiti" that we're sure to see many more times.

DR Vixmom, I am sorry about your basement swimming pool, and in Jose's absence I will take the blame. We had enough rain on Friday and Saturday than NO dam would have been high enough to keep it from spilling northward.

Had time to watch another MONK episode off the DVD set. This one concerned a traffic pile-up on an interstate that Mr. Monk correctly deduced was murder. Entertaining episode even if there were some big holes in the logic.

Enjoyed THE SOPRANOS from last night, even if Christopher's Hollywood sojourn wasn't especially fascinating (and isn't it kind of dangerous for David Chase to be delving into the expensive swag that celebrities get when many of his actors most assuredly get these gift baskets and other perqs being connected to one of the most famous TV shows on the planet.)

I found the Artie storyline very entertaining though a couple of friends found the entire show boring last night. I didn't at all.

I caught a glimpse of the previews for next week's show and was sad to see Vito back. I was hoping they'd just him live his gay life in New Hampshire and be left alone. [sigh]

Sorry to hear of The Flood, Vixmom.
