Well, you've read the notes, the notes were in mothballs, and now it is time for you to post until the mothballed cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: BIBLIOTAPH!
-
First after Bruce and last post yesterday.
-
I should be sleeping.
-
I can't think of anything around my house that creeped me out.
-
Not even the photos in my father's medical magazines.
-
First post after Jane after BK.
-
good morning to all

TOD
Since I couldn't think of anything I was going to make a joke involving a 1962 play title but I thought most people wouldn't get the reference.
The play was Oh Dad, Poor Dad, Mamma's Hung You in the Closet and I'm Feelin' So Sad.
-
~ ~ ~ excellent vibes and xylophones for no sickness whatsoever ~ ~ ~ for bk!!!!!!
-
and ~ ~ ~ CONTINUING MIRACLE VIBES ~ ~ ~ to boot!
-
We are supposed to get the same storm today that's coming DR Cillaliz's way, but I haven't been paying too much attention. I have a fairly short commute, and it's all on flat terrain.
-
Good morning, all! I always sleep lousy on those nights before I have to be up at a certain time and last night was no exception. Still, I was up and dressed by 6:15, and i will hopefully make my trip to East 23rd Sreet this morning in good time.
I remember bits of a dream about orchestrating something - "the song "Lady Be Good," maybe? - for a rehearsal and telling my assistant that I wanted to recopy the trumpet parts before rehearsal. The conductor in the dream is one of Broadway's worst asses.
-
DR coleslaw, I saw the FANFARE review three months ago; it had been sent to the composer's daughter and I was asked to correct errors before it went to print. I corrected things - there was no way in 1954 that THE GOLDEN APPLE could have been recorded complete because of changes to the score between the off-Broadway and Broadway productions and only 1/3 of the score was recorded, not 2/3 as the review says. - and the jerk reviewer did nothing. This is how bad rumors perpetuate.
The ROBERTA recommendation really perked me up.
-
So, after my eye exam this morning, I will board the No 7 bus and head home. Work continues on the Dreidl Song. I've also got several Christmas CDs I want to downloiad to my iTunes.
-
Eye exam vibes for Elmore
-
Weather vibes for Cilla and Singsongs
-
I have to go to work

Have a nice day!

One of Broadway's Worst Asses
That could be the title of the autobiography of several people....in one way or another.
-
I have a paperback script of 1776, DR ELMORE.....I particularly requested the copy from DR VIXMOM because it sounds like it's nice AND it will look good in the display case in the lobby next August!
-
Continued NON-sick and miracle vibes for MR BK.
Travel vibes for DR GEORGE and family.
-
We are expecting temperatures in the 50's all week, so I think we can remove the threat of snow.....at least for now.

TOD:
Bleach
Those snaps that used to hold up hosiery
-
Good morning, all.
Got a busy day today. I woke up in the middle of the night and tossed and turned for a while, but finally got back to sleep. Monday vibes to all!
-
TOD:
In the house I lived in until I was eleven, there was a storeroom in the basement that had a lot of weird stuff. I stayed away from it.

One of Broadway's Worst Asses
That could be the title of the autobiography of several people....in one way or another.
And I was going to suggest Broadway's Worst Asses as a new hit reality show.
-
HBO just had a free preview weekend, and I wound up recording 5 movies I'd never seen before.
Watched KILL THE MESSENGER and KINGSMEN last night. Enjoyed them both.
Also recorded are DRAFT DAY, WILD and UNBROKEN.

Wife Sandy gets her neck X-rays this morning and sees the doctor tomorrow. If he clears her, she'll be able to drive again.

-
Good morning, all.
Happy Monday vibes.
X-ray vibes for DR Druxy's Sandy.
-
I wasn't afraid of anything in the house, merely the chores attached to them.
-
Looks like I'd better send vibes to EVERYONE!!!
Seriously.
DITTO!!!!!

Waiting for the doctor.

Nurse couldn't draw blood from one arm. Now both have been stuck. Ugh.
-
Oh, I hate that. I used to be easy to draw blood from but that has changed over the past few years. Sometimes they take it from the top of my hand.
-
TOD:
Okay, this wasn't something in the house, but it was a very common thing that frightened no one but me. I was afraid of those industrial strength commercial toilets in public bathrooms. They were just too loud and powerful for me when I was about five years old. I thought they were going to suck me in and wash me out to sea.
-
Sometimes they take it from the top of my hand.
I have to do this every month, and we have found that this is the best location for me. It usually works! :P
-
The South is different, folks. Oh yes, the South is different.
I mean, where else would they sell BBQ ribs teething tools for tots? Or should I say Baby-Q? :)

I am home from seeing my ophthalmologist and i have an appointment for next March.
The trips there and back went quite well. On my way home, when I got to the bus stop on Sixth Avenue and 23rd, the driver on the No 7 saw me coming and waited for me. he was one of the nicest drivers when I was taking the bus from Toyland over the past seven years, and it was nice to see him.
-
Those look tasty, Singdaw.
-
Monday morning greetings! This must be the day for medical appointments. I've just come from a routine check with our primary care physician - my last before becoming a Medicare case tomorrow. All is well.
-
And if that doesn't appeal, there's this:
A pumpkin/chocolate chip/toffee muffin.

That's not for the teething infant. That's for the Mom and Dad. :)

One of Broadway's Worst Asses
That could be the title of the autobiography of several people....in one way or another.
I can name four Broadway conductors who are complete asses and other scumbags. I've been lucky, too, to have worked with at least three of the best.
-
Rob just carried several plastic tubs of Christmas decorations up from the basement for me. That should keep me busy for a few days...
But first - Lunch!
-
I'm up, I'm up - barely - I think I got about eight and a half hours of sleep - hope the helper gets here right on time because I may just go back to bed.
-
I can't wait to see pictures of the HHW trees!!! It's always an annual highlight!
-
It'll probably be a couple of weeks before we have the tree ready, DR JRand. Remember, in our household it all has to stay up until Epiphany (January 6), so we're not in that much of a hurry.
-
I have more patience than I have anything else!!!
-
Speaking of trees, I got the 1961 silver one assembled yesterday and I must say it's not looking bad for its age! We should all do so well.
But we needed a trial period to see how the cats were going to deal with it, and unfortunately, leaving it in its best place which is accessible to them just ain't going to happen because they need to be monitored and kept from nibbling at the "needles" -- which isn't good for them, or the tree. It's too bad, because they're all fine with real trees and pretty much leave them alone. But that silver stuff is just too great an attraction and we don't want little kitty intestines messed up now, do we? No we don't. So the silver tree goes to the basement. There's a space where it can be enjoyed just fine, and where the cats will only be admitted when under supervision. And a nice natural tree from the tree farm will grace the upstairs.
More than you ever wanted to know about the silver tree. Right? And why didn't I use this to get us to page eighteen?
-
Oh my.
No posts in two and a half hours?
-
And not even a single guest?
-
Did somebody finally cause the end of the world and I'm the only one spared?
-
Spared. But alone. And only on page two.
-
I shall try to improve my lot.
-
One more...
-
There.
There now.
-
I went back to bed at ten-thirty, just stayed there and I guess I snoozed on and off for two and a half hours almost. Guess that was a good thing to do. I'm groggy and stuffed up but I think all that sleep was helpful. I'll go eat something in thirty minutes or so.
-
So glad it's not the end of the world.
-
"I feel groggy and stuffed up" - sounds like the beginning of an alternate version of "But Alive"
-
bk - Do you know, is Genealley on Talkin Broadway the same person who used to go by the name "Danny"?
-
or if anyone else knows, please chime in.
-
I'll chime in - but I don't know.
-
DR CHAS SMITH many decades ago my grandmother had an aluminum tree with a color wheel which was most entertaining to watch.
At that time we also learned that it could be hazardous to pets especially felines.
AND that you could NOT add lights to the tree.
-
I'll chime in - but I don't know.
Thanks. :)
-
I think Genealley was around when Danny was around? But I can't say for sure - why?
-
Not sure how I'm feeling yet. Will go have some chicken soup, get unstuffed and then I'll have a better idea. And of course I'll keep doing the Sambucol (will have to get more tomorrow) and Airborne and stuff.
-
George, are you recording the Wiz Live! (hint, hint)?
-
COLD BE NONEXISTENT vibes for BK!
-
DR CHAS SMITH many decades ago my grandmother had an aluminum tree with a color wheel which was most entertaining to watch.
In December 1960 we had just moved from Ohio to Florida, and we'd also just moved into the house we'd be in for a while. We'd always had real trees, but given the moving circumstances and the impending visits of some of our extended family, the decision was made to keep it simple and clean and go for one of those newfangled aluminum ones. And so we did, just a four-footer or thereabouts. I think we used that for a second or maybe third Christmas before returning to real trees, and I have no idea how long my folks kept it around.
Fast forward to about 2001 when I found that vintage aluminum trees were becoming very popular, and of course pricey on eBay and such, and I just had to get one. So I finally found this one, a six-footer, for a reasonable price, and I especially loved that it was in its original shipping carton showing that the manufacturer shipped it to a Sears in -- I think -- Rochester, NY in 1961. Sadly, the box was lost to the water heater leaking a couple of years later, so it is no more. I should have kept that shipping label, but I don't remember, maybe it was damaged, too. Anyway, I loved knowing its origin and age, and still treasure the tree for that. I'd have no interest in any modern-day artificial tree, never mind all the "advances" in the technology.
-
So, a year after I acquired this tree, I decided I must have a rotating base and color wheel as well, for the complete and authentic experience. I went back to eBay and got those, both of similar vintage to the tree. The base is still fine, but sadly, the motor in the color wheel seems to have died while in storage, so I'm trying to scare up another one.

TOD
I'm pretty sure there were a few scary things. Almost certainly there was a rubber hosed something or other. I seem to have succeeded in erasing any detailed memories of same, which suits me fine.
We definitely used mothballs but I haven't been around any in years. I remember the smell, though. But that one wasn't particularly offensive to me. I don't think. Maybe I need to smell some again.
-
Now that I think about it, there were probably quite a few things in bathroom cabinets or wherever that our parents used that were scary or yucky to us kids. They wouldn't even have to be something we'd find odd or weird or yucky now. It was just part of being a kid.
-
We are expecting temperatures in the 50's all week, so I think we can remove the threat of snow.....at least for now.
I want to return to the 50's. It is 35 degrees today.

Wife Sandy gets her neck X-rays this morning and sees the doctor tomorrow. If he clears her, she'll be able to drive again.
Did the doctor clear Sandy to drive? Did the surgery work?
-
I've been on a 2-hour nap. I needed it.

Nurse couldn't draw blood from one arm. Now both have been stuck. Ugh.
Do you often have that problem. I did when I was young but not in the last 20 years.

Kind of like an airplane toilet. I always worried I would fall down the open drains in the street.

The cats come first and yes, they do tend to like silver sparkly things.

Oh my.
No posts in two and a half hours?
I had work to do this morning and then went out into the cold for an hour and a half brisk walk. I could have walked longer but my feet hurt from walking on concrete here. Dirt roads and barked trails were easier on my feet.
-
I think Genealley was around when Danny was around? But I can't say for sure - why?
Seems like the same style somehow.
-
Very interesting DR CHAS SMITH.
-
I am now friends on facebook with the daughter of my father's cousin. The cousin was the only family member who survived the Holocaust. After the war he moved to Israel. His daughter's name and entire page are in Hebrew which I cannot read. ;D
-
"I feel groggy and stuffed up" - sounds like the beginning of an alternate version of "But Alive"
Or to the tune of I Feel Pretty.... I feel groggy, I feel stuffed up.....
-
Back from lunch. I didn't have much appetite - had a cup of chicken soup and a turkey sandwich. Still not sure of how I feel, but I think a bit better, so keep sending vibes and xylophones for that and the second miracle, which is close to happening.
-
I fully intended to work today. whether at home or the office, but it's a snow day and I think there is a rule that you can't work on a snow day
-
I did have a very good day. I love the snow!!!
-
Also, got a big box from Amazon - all filled with SAG screeners for their various series, none of which I've ever seen and most of which I've never heard of. I had heard about The Man in the High Castle and I've got all six episodes of that and I hear their show with Jeffrey Tambor is very good, but they sent season two and I don't know if that's such a good idea to start it with the second season.
-
Hey everyone. Just a quick hi! I'm in the midst of moving, again. That's another story, nevermind... I'll do some catching up with that later.
On Friday, I had a wonderful breakfast with our DR Elmore in NYC. Definitely a highlight of my quick trip to NYC - I saw 5 shows and a parade in 3 days... and some great time with Larry! Anyway, more about everything soon.... in the meantime... here we are!
-
Excellent!!
-
Great Photo
-
Welcome back, DR Matthew! Thanks for sharing the photo - looking forward to hearing all about your trip.

DR Matthew, that was indeed a wonderful breakfast! I'm happy you are safely home but sorry to hear of another move.
-
Welcome home (and back), DR Matthew! Love the photo.

Delightful photo DR elmore and DR Matthew :)

MOVING VIBES FOR DR MATTHEW!!
-
We loved the Jeffrey Tambor series, Transparent. I would definitely start with Season One first, though.
-
So sorry to hear that you have to move again, DR Matthew. :P
-
How about a rousing round of "Chiri Chiri Bim"?
Anyone?
-
Great photo of DR MATTHEW and DR ELMORE! Looks like they are having fun.
Continued strong MIRACLE VIBES for MR BK.

Poor Joshie. I came home from my day trip and he was behind the sofa meyowling pitifully. I pulled out the sofa, and he went running out, with a paper shopping bag with a twisted handle trailing behind him. He took off in a panic, and I had to catch him. Sandra got scissors and cut the handle, which was twisted tightly around his leg. He seems ok. He is purring beside me now. Poor kitty.

Poor boy, and I'm sure you know how lucky you are that he is ok.

Hello!
-
Nice photo of DRs elmore and Matthew!
-
We had a silver Christmas tree with the revolving colored light too. My mother admitted years later that she always hated it but it had been a gift from her uncle so she felt she had to put it up.
-
I'm home!!
-
Just had to share. :)
-
Now, to ketchup on today's posts.
-
I listened to Liz Callaway's new CD today--I enjoyed it very much. It was nice seeing the special mentions of DR elmore and BK!
-
I can't think of anything around my house that creeped me out.
Neither can I. We didn't have mothballs when I was growing up, but a former coworker used them. You really could tell when she brought out some clothes from her storage. :P

Continued NON-sick and miracle vibes for MR BK.
Travel vibes for DR GEORGE and family.
Thanks, Jrand! We had a nice, easy trip back.

Watching the 50th Anniversary Charlie Brown Christmas special

George, are you recording the Wiz Live! (hint, hint)?
I was planning on it. :)
It hasn't been on yet, has it??
-
Welcome home (and back), DR Matthew! Love the photo.
Ditto (and ditto)! And Ditto!
-
Well, now that I've caught up, I need to get something to eat. On Mondays, I like to go to Taco Del Mar because they have a punch card (a punch for every $5 spent) and on Mondays it's Double Punch Monday (TWO punches for $5)! But their new workers the last couple of weeks didn't double punch, so I don't know if it's because they just don't knw about it, or if that Taco Del Mar no longer offers double punches. I must find out which.
Be back later...but definitely tonight.
-
I have a paperback script of 1776, DR ELMORE.....I particularly requested the copy from DR VIXMOM because it sounds like it's nice AND it will look good in the display case in the lobby next August!
The 1776 is part of a Anthology so it won't do for your display I so afraid
-
I so afraid
Me, too! ;D
-
We could never have gotten to PAGE FIVE without mothballs. And they won't let us forget it.
-
Finished watching The Big Short on a DGA screener. I'll just relax until our 7:30 rehearsal - just three people tonight, so we'll be done by nine. Feeling not great but not as bad as last night, throat-wise. Hopefully another really good night of sleep will do wonders.
-
Stupid autocorrect
-
I think I shall buy me a big aluminum tree with a color wheel and a rotating base, and hang mothballs upon it as ornaments.
-
THAT'll show 'em!!
-
As former DR Karen used to say:
You funny. Me laugh long time. ;D
-
I think I shall buy me a big aluminum tree with a color wheel and a rotating base, and hang mothballs upon it as ornaments.
Don't forget the tradition Christmas. Fez as a tree topper
-
I am listening to Wing rock out to "Dancing Queen." Do not ask me why.
-
I shall not forget, DR vixmom. ;D
-
The "storm" was kind of a bust. Not more than a few inches of snow. The morning commute was pretty slippery, but after that it kind of petered out.
Not that I'm complaining, mind you.
-
But it wasn't the 8 or so inches they were predicting.
-
I've been on a 2-hour nap. I needed it.
I needed it, too. But I didn't get it.
-
George, are you recording the Wiz Live! (hint, hint)?
I was planning on it. :)
It hasn't been on yet, has it??
I think it's broadcasting on Thursday.
-
Watching the 50th Anniversary Charlie Brown Christmas special
I'm watching Rudolph now. May watch Charlie Brown after that. How's the special?
-
Nurse couldn't draw blood from one arm. Now both have been stuck. Ugh.
Do you often have that problem. I did when I was young but not in the last 20 years.
Yes. The veins like to hide when the needle comes around.
-
MOVING VIBES FOR DR MATTHEW!!
I'll second that. And yes, great photo of Matthew and Elmore.
-
Have I cleared the house?
-
Hello, ChasSmith!
-
Hello, 1 Guest!
-
I got sooooooooooooo many CyberMonday emails with sales, etc., and I bought nothing online today.
-
I was just listening to the Robert Ward CD. Beautiful stuff.
-
I guess I didn't do my part for the economy.
-
Six!
-
Well, I seem to be pulling an early vixmom. Nodding off at the computer.
But look at me. I can type! I CAN TYPE!!! :)
-
But that's about it. Got to call it an early night. Good night, all!
-
I am listening to Wing rock out to "Dancing Queen." Do not ask me why.
She sounds pretty good, doesn't she?
-
Good night, all.
-
George, are you recording the Wiz Live! (hint, hint)?
I was planning on it. :)
It hasn't been on yet, has it??
I think it's broadcasting on Thursday.
It is, and my DVR is set.
-
We are expecting temperatures in the 50's all week, so I think we can remove the threat of snow.....at least for now.
I want to return to the 50's. It is 35 degrees today.
I thought you meant the 1950's.
-
Nobody home but me!
-
SECOND SAMUEL rehearsal tonight.
-
I have nothing to say about it.
-
Still no heat in the homefront.
-
They worked on it all day.
-
I guess I didn't do my part for the economy.
Neither did I.
-
The guy will be back on Wednesday.
-
Still no heat in the homefront.
.
Darn!
-
Though I expect you are using stronger language to express your beeping about it ;)
-
I was going to complain about him not coming tomorrow, till he told me that tomorrow is his father's funeral.
-
I guess I can wait another day.
-
Wednesday, why not tomorrow?
-
Oh, well. It was nice of him to be there today.
-
Besides, the freezing temperatures are gone for now.
-
And the rain has returned!
-
Good.
-
I skipped my evening walk cuz I was still cold from my afternoon one.
-
Actually I am glad that there are no repair people here tomorrow.
-
I need the apartment empty to work on WRECKS.
-
It was too distracting today.
-
Thursday evening is getting closer and closer.
-
My nerves are on edge.
-
One more post.
-
Is it only your heat that is out? I thought it was the building.
-
Good Vibes preparing for Wrecks!
-
Seven!
-
Good Vibes preparing for Wrecks!
Ditto!
-
Is it only your heat that is out? I thought it was the building.
Nope. Just mine.
-
Thanks to you both.
-
No ten pages today.
-
Too many distractions to eat today.
-
But I did have a cornbread muffin this morning.
-
I am too tired to run thru WRECKS tonight.
-
I think I will browse through a catalog instead.
-
G'night!
-
Finished with my viewing and must write notes and get to bed as early as I can.
-
Today was my payday and now my checkbook is balanced.
Whew! It all matched.
