Well, you've read the notes, you know Daylight Savings Time has returned, and now it is time for you to post until the returning cows come home.

Yesterday, after leaving my parents' but before I came home, I went to the Hawks Prairie Costco.  Things seemed pretty normal there.  I walked around the store and didn't notice any empty sections.

Then after leaving Costo, I went to Jiffy Lube and had my oil and wiper fluid topped off.  If you get your oil changed there (which I did), you can get your fluids topped off for free.  Cool!

As for changing my clocks, I always wait until I've woken up on Sunday because I have a couple of devices that may or may not change automatically.  I just don't remember which.

Today, I'm ushering for The Highest Tide (https://harlequinproductions.org/show/the-highest-tide/), a stage adaptation of the book of the same name (https://www.amazon.com/dp/1582346054/) by local author, Jim Lynch.

After ushering, my niece wants me to come over to her place and show her how to clip the claws of her cats.

I had another lousy night of sleep, so when  the alarm rang at 6:30 (the old 5:30), I fed the cats and went back to bed until I felt like getting up. At 9:15 I decided it was time.

I have no plans for today, so I doubt I will even leave the apartment.  I need to do kitty cleanup, make the bed, and pick up some of the cats' toys.  Then I will revise (again!) the story I lost yesterday.  I'm still angry over that.

It's ten o'clock.......but the sun says it's nine o'clock.....so I will go by the clock.

All of my clocks have been pushed forward......I have seven including the kitchen range and microwave.  Not counting the computer which does its own thing.

As for changing my clocks, I always wait until I've woken up on Sunday because I have a couple of devices that may or may not change automatically.  I just don't remember which.

We have 3 radio/alarm clocks, the microwave and the oven that need changing.  Oh, I forgot to change my watches.  I don't wear them very often in the winter since I can look at my cell phone instead.

I especially resented this particular jumping forward of the clocks, because I had a li'l second wind going last night so I was reading some stuff and suddenly it was 1:00 am which then instantly became the new 2:00 am...whereupon I damned them. I damned them all to HELL.   And back.

I shall now be on my way to the paperback show - will be interesting to see the attendance, which is usually huge.  And I do wonder if this thing hasn't impacted small theater in LA.

FJL. Yes, Will Eno was there.  I don’t know that you would call it previews.  It’s a limited run show just until the end of the month and last night was the first performance.

The theatre was about 2/3 full.

Will was saying that he was grateful about how many people came as apparently there were a lot of cancellations or no shows because of the virus scare

We three (my friend Maria, Will and I) about the possibility of this scare causing shows , especially ones just opening, to close due to fear of illness  keeping people away.

I don't know what is the best solution to stop the virus from spreading.  I saw the train between DC & NY was shut down, didn't read the article to separate fact from headline.

One of the many times my crazy sister was mad at me her cat had a problem and she asked Keith what to do.  He said I would know.  Because she was mad at me she would not get let me help jeopardizing her cat.  She left the room, asked me what to do, then followed my sister & took care of the problem.

Trump getting rid of the pandemic response team just because Obama set it up reminds me of my sisters actions.  Just because we don't like someone doesn't mean that don't have a good idea or two.  I hate PETA but still recognize when they do something good.

This morning in church the Pastor announced that in “passing the peace” people should do what made them feel comfortable,  be in the usual handshake or hug  or just a wave  or a bow , smile or head nod.

Pastor announced at the beginning of the service this morning that our board of elders decided to drop the passing of the peace for a while. He even said that he would not be shaking people's hands afterward. So, we didn't have the passing of the peace, but when I left church, there was pastor shaking people's hands. I guess he forgot.

One great bit of dialogue:

This was made in 1991 and thankfully we're still having that same conversation.

Back from the paperback show, which had maybe a third of its usual attendance - several dealers and authors cancelled.  Those who were there seemed to be having a good time.  I had a good time.  Seated next to author Peter S. Beagle, he of The Last Unicorn.  Robert Yacko came and visited, as did Adryan Russ and her ever-lovin' Dale.  So, the time passed quickly.  I perused after but that was it.

Then I went to the theater.  I sat with Kay and her friend - right side of house row two.  Not sure I ever sat that far over - 99% of it played well from that angle.  A couple of moments actors had their faces away from that side but never for more than a minute, so it's all good.

Dinner was fine, but I made the mistake of using the seasoning packet that came with the lentils and it was bland. It would have been better with some onion, celery and carrot cooked in it. I did add some chicken stock and salt, both of which helped a great deal. And, at the last minute, some butter went in, instead of olive oil. That richness helped.

I now have two hours left in Until the End of the World, and while I'm liking it, I do find it odd to think that Max Von Sydow and Jeanne Moreau's child would grow up to be William Hurt. No. He's just a little too much liked used dish water to be interesting as a hero of a movie this long. He's better as a character actor in History of Violence.

Today, I'm ushering for The Highest Tide (https://harlequinproductions.org/show/the-highest-tide/), a stage adaptation of the book of the same name (https://www.amazon.com/dp/1582346054/) by local author, Jim Lynch.

I'm home and the show was really good.  I haven't read the book, but it's about a young teenager who lives in Olympia, his parents are going through a divorce and he finds a giant squid on the waterfront.  There is, of course, a lot more to it, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

After the show, I went to the Fishtale Brew Pub for dinner (I had a gift card and wanted to finish it off), and I had the grilled chicken sandwich.  It was pretty good...a little hard to bite through, but not chewy or tough.

After ushering, my niece wants me to come over to her place and show her how to clip the claws of her cats.

After eating, I went to show my niece how to clip the claws of her cat.  It was pretty easy and she did quite well.  Her cat also cooperated, so that was good.  Hopefully, her other three cats will be as cooperating when it's their time.

It's because you are saving daylight time...hence, Daylight Saving Time.

I use them interchangeably, because I really don't care about which is correct, just as I do antiviral and antibiotic.

Or safety deposit box (incorrect) vs. safe deposit box (correct). ;)

I have NEVER known which is Daylight and which is Standard. It has never made any sense to me.

Just remember that DST lasts about three times longer in the year than standard time.  I don't understand that!

One woman on Facebook just suggested that all events be cancelled, large and small, public transportation should be shut down, schools should be shut down, stores should be shut down.  And she follows that with, "This isn't panic."  Uh huh.

Today at The Highest Tide, Jim Lynch, the author of the original book, and the woman (I forget her name) who did this stage adaptation were there.  They participated in the talkback after today's show.  That was fun.  All of the actors (including the alternate Miles, the lead) stayed and talked, as well.

And there were gel sanitizer  dispensers and boxes of tissues strategically placed all around the lobby, near the snacks, the mailing list sign up, the book sale cart, etc.

Ditto here.

This may be too creepy to record, but since they keep saying this virus is nothing to worry about unless you;'re 60 or older - but I'm not 60 until May, so I guess I;m safe fo two months.

Tune of “Lotta Love”

It’s gonna take a lotta gloves
To keep us safe from fear
It’s gonna take a lotta gloves
But one thing’s really clear.

Though you may find this surprising
And think this can’t be so:
If you need sanitizing
Supplies are low.

It’s gonna take a lotta gloves
To get us through a plague
It’s gonna take a lotta gloves
So let’s not be too vague.

That if you’ve been out there dawdlin’
And don’t even have Purell
Now I hope this isn’t maudlin
But it’s been swell.

Gotta lotta gloves.
Gotta lotta gloves…

:))

I expect you needed it.  Maybe you will now be caught up with the time change, including Daylight Saving.

I doubt it. I don't think I'll get enough sleep tonight. I can just feel it.

I never feel like I get enough sleep when DST begins. :P
