When I was going through Strike Me Pink to see what songs were in the movie, I read the cast list at the end.  One of the performers (not a character) in the movie is named Parkyakarkus! :))

I'd never heard of him, so I looked him up on IMDb (https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0661997/?ref_=fn_nm_nm_1) and it says that his name is Harry Parke, but he was born on May 6, 1904 (exactly 116 years and two days ago) as Harry Einstein.  One of his sons is the actor Albert Brooks!

I've listened to the five symphonies of William Alwyn - what a wonderful composer.  It took me awhile to get into the symphonies but they're really terrific once you do.  And his film music is just incredible, especially Odd Man Out and The Fallen Idol.

Both Thatch and I are having a hard time getting ourselves moving this morning.  After I fed them, I put out some food for the pigeons on the fire escape, and Thatch woke right up.  He hides behind the window blinds and stalks them.

I no longer feed them every day. Two years ago, it became a complete mess.  Every day the number of pigeons got larger, the neighbors complained about large flocks of pigeons making too much noise, the super = this is after Val had left us - was unhappy with all the pigeon shit.  I only feed them now about once every two weeks. just to give the cats a thrill.  I had begun the whole thing only to amuse Annabelle.

DR vixmom, when my dad was still alive and I was spending so much time in Ohio every time he went into the ICU, I prayed he would come through and be released.  He was such a horrid backseat driver that each time I drove him home from hospital, I kept thinking, I'm going to drop this sonofabitch off at the side of the road.

This morning at 9:30 I need to call Senator Serrano's office and give Suad my weekly unemployment report.  Last night on the 5:00 news, there were 3,000,000 more new NY unemployment claims.  I don't know if I will ever see any money, but I'm hoping.  Before I go into this surgery, I want to know my life insurance is paid up and that I'm current with all my debts.

The Chalk Garden began as a London production, directed by John Gielgud, starring Peggy Ashcroft and Edith Evans.  Siobhan McKenna and Gladys Cooper, directed by Albert Marre, played the roles on Broadway.  I love the film version.

Nothing but frustration: cannot get through to Serrano's office about unemployment, and my bank just sent a ridiculous email reply to an inquiry I made yesterday about an unauthorized charge.  When I call the bank's customer service, I get a warning there will be a long time before pickup and after about 15 minutes of listening to a bad theme song, I hang up.  Three days in a row I've called to wait forever.  I'll have to pay a local visit, I guess.

Friday morning greetings!  Sorry I didn't check in here yesterday, time kind of got away from me.  The day started with a delightful delivery of Mother's Day flowers from Rob and Mary Linda.  I made a socially distant visit to the AAUW book sale site for some more jigsaw puzzles and to the pharmacy drive-up for a couple of prescriptions.  Last evening I got involved in a h-u-g-e puzzle and stayed up way too late working on it.

That is an excellent quote.

I understand it is difficult for her to cook and clean but I would expect she can do most other things.  Is her wrist still very swollen?  I also know it is painful.  I have a low threshold for pain, your mother's must be almost zero.  My mother never tolerated us making a lot of noise about pain, something she knew too much about.

Been busy doing some "stuff" this morning, and I have to get ready to take Poe down to Cat Clinic for a quick antibiotics shot. His urine showed signs of bacteria, which has happened before, and he's getting the injection to ward off getting a UTI.

I learned that I have to voluntarily pay more for that as opposed to giving him an oral solution or tablets at home. You absolutely cannot get an antibiotic into him otherwise. He can detect one part in a billion from a hundred miles away and there's no way of disguising it in anything.

DR Elmore, do you know music copyist Russ Anixter? I watched a short interview with him. He used to work with a Don Rice. I didn't know either of these names. He also mentioned the names Tony Kay (sp?) and Doug Besterman, both of whom are left-handed copyists which is apparently a whole 'other challenge in writing music. Anyway, he's still a proponent of doing it all by hand, even though he has relatively little chance to do so nowadays.

Doug Besterman is not a copyist; he is an orchestrator who works quite a lot.  You'll find his Broadway shows on the IBDB.  He lives in LA now and does some film work.  Could this Tony Kay actually be Annie Kaye?  She used to be an actress, and I worked with her on an orchestration job for Papermill Playhouse many years ago.  She's a nice ladym abd I haven't seen her in so long I doubt I would recognize her.

I do not know the others you mentioned, but my last work involving a copyist was for Encores! and there are new music prep folk I've never met.

I just reported my unemployment hours to Suad, and I really like her a lot.  She's quite wonderful.

Thank goodness you have someone nice to help you get the benefits.  When does the food delivery begin?

I'm more concerned about when/if the payments begin!

Of course you are.  I just thought you might have also been told about the grocery delivery.

We did our first Zoom this afternoon and watched an 11 year old open her gifts from us.  That was fun.

Started watching Swimming Pool, which I saw when it first came out in 2003. Hard to believe that that's 17 years ago. Charlotte Rampling is wonderful. So different from The Night Porter.

I'm making a new recipe for potato salad this evening. It's from an Irish cookbook that I love. It mixes fresh mint in a sauce slathered over the potatoes.

I never cook potatoes, but this recipe looked too good to pass up. So, I picked some up at the grocery today.

My trip was uneventful, though there were a few people who did not have masks on, including a 2-year-old in a stroller. Mom was wearing a mask, though. Odd that you wouldn't want to protect your child.

Hmmm Sounds good. I'm sort of particular about my potato salad, I've always loved my mom's.  It's plain but good.   The mint sounds intriguing, though

I went to the grocery earlier today.  Funny, I went yesterday and what didn't I get...bread, milk and eggs. Good grief!  The store wasn't very crowded, but I'm still amazed at the lack of masks.  The employees were all wearing them now, and maybe half of the shoppers.

So, my whole family use apple, i stuff and, as Gabe says "Aunt Cill is an Android".  They've been doing a lot of Facetime, and I've always felt a bit out of the loop on that. I called my mom today and her caretaker said,"She can use my phone, why don't you facetime"   I had to admit I couldn't because I'm an android.   Anyway, I found an iPad on Best Buy on sale today so I broke down and got it.

Then after talking to my brother, we decided to get one for mom.  She won't know how to use it, but Krista can help her and it will allow her to face time with her grands and great grands and me.   And living in the boonies, there is more of a move toward tele-medicine.  So, we'll see how it goes, but I think this could be a good thing

Said DD Driver texted later and said Kroger would not give him the groceries.

My niece soon discovered that the DD Driver stole her groceries.

The End.

I had the same problem with my previous cat Ebonie.  The injection was four times the cost of the pills ($60 vs. $15) , but if she's not keeping them down, what good are they? :-\

I never had any particular feelings for the likes of Siegfried and Roy, but I did see their act with the tigers once at the Mirage in Vegas back in 1994. That’s where we were staying for one of our company’s (my day job) national sales events. In fact, I didn’t know who they were until I was informed that that was the evening’s entertainment. It was okay, but not something that floats my boat, then or now.
