Well, you've read the notes, the notes arrived, and now it is time for you to post until the arriving cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: EXTRAPOLATE!
-
In May we had almost two million page views.
-
In May we had almost two million page views.
Cool!
-
I must say that I'm kind of glad that the Kritzerland test will be pushed back a day, because an online reading of Whose Afraid of Virginia Woolf, organized by my friend Gary, is also happening tonight, so now I won't have to worry about them overlapping.
-
Well, I must be off. Today, I go back to work. I don't think I'll work full days at first. We'll see. Next Monday is when we're all (most? some?) supposed to go back into the building.
Have a good day, all!
-
Today is Primary Election Day in Indiana.....and I have taken care of my end.
-
To be sure that I always have one, I usually buy an EXTRAPOLATE to keep in the pantry.
-
I shall have to think about the TOD.....but I certainly enjoy the ones mentioned in the notes, especially:
Psycho
Eyes Without a Face (which I purchased after reading about it right here on HHW a decade or more ago)
Peeping Tom
-
The suggestion has been made that we have our Executive Committee Meeting in person tomorrow.
I am okay with that.....but I have to be home by curfew.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Good morning, all.

TOD
Definitely the ones BK mentioned, and I was happy to see Black Sunday included because I’ve never forgotten seeing the trailer for the first time at a tender age, and how it alone blew me away. Bava hit a whole lot of right notes in this one.
I’m going to browse the shelves later, in the hope of naming a few cherce titles I might not think of from my present vantage point, a.k.a. the recliner.

Sending vibes of comfort and recovery for DR Elmore.
I say comfort deliberately, since there’s bound to be a certain amount of discomfort following any such surgery and I hope he gets to the other side of it sooner rather than later.
-
Good morning!
-
Glad to her DR elmore's surgery went well and wishing him a speedy recovery.
-
Belated Happy Anniversary wishes to DR Jane and DH Keith!

Last night, I approved the final audio edition of my play, JASON ROBARDS AT THE OLD PLACE.
Tony Bingham is a magnificent actor, and he brings Robards, a two-time Oscar-winner, to life in the one hour radio-like production, which features music and sound effects.
ACX is currently taking a month or longer to make these audio productions available to the public, but watch for it. It's one of the very best of THE HOLLYWOOD LEGENDS audios thus far.
In the meantime, if you'd like to read the play before you listen to it, just click on this link.

T.O.D.
I've never been much of a horror fan, particularly in my adult years.
However, I've always had a special affection for SON OF FRANKENSTEIN...even before I wrote my book on Basil Rathbone.
No idea why.
I also liked HORROR OF DRACULA, even before Christopher Lee became my publicity client.

The more you know:
Tomorrow’s harmonious conjunction between the sun and romantic Venus in free-thinking Gemini puts a focus on your personal life, infusing it with creativity and an influx of fabulous ideas. This pleasant and affectionate influence highlights your closest relationships and encourages you to think up new ways to expand the scope of those connections while enjoying your growing popularity.
Having a good time is first and foremost on your mind, but if you’re still being asked to abstain from parties and other social functions, you’re an expert at finding imaginative ways to enjoy yourself. The desire to overindulge while experiencing this aspect’s pleasure-seeking energy is strong, so try not to overdo it.

Continued vibes for DR ELMORE and The Kats.

Thanks TCB & George.

Thank you. It was a nice day.
-
Congrats DR Druxy.

TOD: I don't watch horror movies. I am still traumatized by seeing The Creature From the Black Lagoon as a kid.
-
I don't like horror movies. I still remember Keith forcing me to watch The Blob on tv clinging to him the entire time. Since we were 18 he didn't mind the clinging ;D
To my surprise I liked it.
-
The first time I saw The Birds was at a drive in with my mother. I suspect my father would not have appreciated her taking me to it knowing I was prone to nightmares.
She gave me a tranquilizer part way in the movie, most likely to shut me up-lol.
-
I looked up the top horror films. From the lists these are films I have watched multiple times.
King Kong-original
The Birds
Tremors
-
Comedy horror films:
Shaun of the Dead
Zombieland
-
DR TCB I attempted to find out if the locals arrested in Seattle were looters, whom I expect to be local, peaceful protesters, or agitators. I couldn't find anything.
I did see where some of police officers pulled physically aggressive officers off of the suspect. That was good though I wish there hadn't been aggression in the first place.
-
Tuesday afternoon greetings! Just had a nice phone chat with my sister, checked my email, and found this message from Josh:
"I have spoken to Larry twice on the phone today. He is still in some pain from the surgery, but he has been up and about walking around a bit. He is understandably tired but mostly in good spirits. He expects to be released either tomorrow or Thursday.
I have sent along well-wishes and updated him about the cats!"

I don't care for horror movies. I was traumatized by seeing Beware! The Blob when I was a kid.
-
Thank you Ginny. I didn't realize Josh was also getting updates on the cats. This made me happy.
-
Comedy horror films:
Shaun of the Dead
Zombieland
I like both of those! I did go see Get Out a couple of years ago, and really liked that...it wasn't a comedy, though.

That was creepy. Definitely not a comedy.
-
I am pleased to say protests in Vancouver have remained peaceful. Probably because the agitators are across the bridge in Portland.
-
That's fine news from Josh. Thank you, DR Ginny!
-
Eight meetings down. One to go.
-
Thanks for the update, Ginny.
-
Horror isn’t usually my thing, but I have enjoyed a few:
Nosferatu, the Vampyr (both versions)
Midsommer
Shaun of the Dead
Dawn of the Dead
Us
Rosemary’s Baby
M
Rocky Horror Picture Show
Pink Flamingos
-
I'm up, I'm up - seven and a half hours of sleep. Was up at eleven, immediately enmeshed in Kritzerland show stuff, then had to pick up yesterday's package. On the way home I did what I'd been meaning to do for the past two weeks - got Casa Vega to go. I picked it up, came home, and it was great.
-
Then I made the mistake of going to Facebook where I actually read a post that said in addition to this ridiculous "blackout day" malarkey, it's also been "designated" that today is a day without music. Not for me. Ever. Music is a healing art and anyone who designates a day without it is an idiot and, I guarantee you, white.
-
And the person posting it was doing it and is a musical director I've worked with on many occasions. I had to rewrite my response six times because the first five were not so nice.
-
Helper was supposed to be here fifteen minutes ago - originally I asked for it to be earlier and I want these shipped today, but that is looking less likely the later she is.
-
Books have been picked up. I'm not sure they'll get shipped today but tomorrow for sure - I stressed that they really needed to go out today.
-
Oy. I haven’t seen that Facebook thing at all.
-
Well, I tried ... and failed. I looked over my shelves and decided that adding just a few titles won’t work. Too many contenders. And no one wants to see my list of, say, 50 favorites.
The one good thing that came out of it was that I pulled several movies I’d been thinking about revisiting but hadn’t moved on it. The watch pile is looking quite healthy now.
-
TOD 2:
I remembered a few more.
The Innocents
The Uninvited
Freaks
Silence of the Lambs
The Shining
Evil Dead 2
-
I am glad to be out of the marathon run of meetings today.
-
I need to go for a walk.
-
Eight meetings down. One to go.
Oh my.

Oy. I haven’t seen that Facebook thing at all.
Neither have I except for one empty black post which I now understand.
-
A day without music?
-
I need to go for a walk.
I would think so.
-
Not receiving a reminder yet I called about my eye check tomorrow morning. Good thing I did as my appointment wasn't down. It is now.
-
The day without music thing was clarified for me, but you would never have guessed it from the initial post and the responses - and it was couched within "I guess you missed the memo." Well, yeah, guess I did. The memo (I'm sure he means some Facebook stupidity) was that no one release any new music today, i.e. recordings, etc. I find this stuff so beyond stupid and completely beyond my comprehension. Stand in solidarity, absolutely. The rest is someone doing the equivalent of a Facebook meme.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Very good news about DR Elmore. I'm glad to hear he's up and around a bit.
Thanks again to DR Ginny for her part.
-
I don't normally watch horror movies, but there was a Stephen King one that I quite liked. I don't recall the name.
Agree on THE UNINVITED and several others. Some of the films mentioned I never thought of as horror movies, such a M, but I can't argue with that, either.

If you have to give a key in order to understand something, then you haven't communicated effectively.

This morning I checked my bank's website to try to learn why my branch was closed yesterday. I couldn't believe it. ALL the branches near me are "temporarily closed." I called the bank and was told it was due to Covid-19. Really? Covid could go on for a very long time; do they plan to stay closed indefinitely? They have made no decisions as to when to reopen. I understand taking precautions, but this is just ridiculous.
I did some searches. I would say that at least half of the banks on LA's Westside are closed. The Tomato Bank (don't you love the name?), a Japanese bank close to me, merged with another Japanese bank, but they are closing the branch on July 31. I finally found a small bank nearby with reasonable fees (read "no"), but you must make an appointment to come in! I spoke to the branch manager, who was pleasant and seemed sensible. I'll try to go in tomorrow and open an account.
I never, ever imagined that banking would be so difficult!
As for doing business during Covid, I just can't believe they can't find ways to do business.
-
Starting to watch Spike Lee's film of Passing Strange. He really good at directing music. I wish he had made the film of Rent, which he'd wanted to do.
-
My safe deposit box is at one of the branches that is closed. I don't need anything from it at the moment, but just how do they expect to handle that??
-
Oh, and did I mention that the bank made no effort whatsoever to INFORM its customers of the branch closures? No email, no letter. Nada. The sign on the door implied that the closure was for yesterday only, even though they knew it was indefinite.
This bank doesn't deserve to stay in business.

Who comes up with this stuff.

Good idea rethinking your response.
-
I then drove to Whole Foods Market. The line was halfway around the parking lot. We were all chatting among ourselves -- those of us who weren't glued to our phones. We had sufficient time to learn life histories.
-
BK reminds me often of why I have no desire to do FB.
-

How could I not think of my favorite horror film. THE UNINVITED. Probably because I don't think of it as a horror film.
-
Hi Jeanne.
-
Today's good news is that I've heard very few sirens.
-
Our bank has been open all along. There is hand sanitizer everywhere and the tellers are behind windows.
-
Jane, you'd be sickened if you saw downtown Santa Monica. The footage I saw was quite limited, but even so it looked like most of downtown was ravaged.
-
Our bank has been open all along. There is hand sanitizer everywhere and the tellers are behind windows.
I don't see where it is any more dangerous than other places we all go. In fact, I'd say most banks are safer than supermarkets.
-
TTFN.

I agree.

Well, I get to go home now! I need to get home so that I can watch a reading of the first act of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, put on by friends of mine. I'm sure it'll be really good.
Be back later.
-
Rosemary's Baby.
-
Thanks to DR GINNY for sharing the latest DR ELMORE NEWS.
-
I was going to drop my new album
JRAND SINGS SONGS FROM THE VALLEY OF THE DOLLS
today, but I guess I will have to wait until tomorrow.
-
DAMN IT!!!!!

We are totally digital. Our branches, what few there were, closed at the start of the pandemic. I don't know that they'll ever reopen.

I want a copy. NOW.

Hi, Jane. Hi, John G.
Hi, Jeanne. Hi, Jane. Hope you both are enjoying your evening.
-
Let's move on ...
-
Four!
-
Hi, Jennifer!
-
My goodness gracious - no posts in two-and-a-half men - sorry - hours.
-
Finished with my viewing and why shouldn't I be?
-
Now, where in tarnation IS everyone?
-
I am settling down now to go to sleep.
-
I have an early eye doctor appointment.
-
'night
-
Well, I get to go home now! I need to get home so that I can watch a reading of the first act of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, put on by friends of mine. I'm sure it'll be really good.
Be back later.
Well, it was fun!
-
There were about 16 or 17 people, including the four actors.
-
Gratuitous Post #100!!
-
They just read through act one.
-
Next week will be act two.
-
And the week after will be act three.
-
My friend Gary read Martha's role tonight!
-
He's always wanted to do this show.
-
His original plan was to have four different readers for each act, but Russ who read George's role, also has wanted to do this show, so he wants to (and will) read George for all three acts.
-
His wife Kim read Honey tonight, but will move to Martha next week.
-
Peter, who read Nick, is in Wenatchee, Washington, which is on the other side of the state.
-
He used to live in Olympia, but he and his wife (also originally from Olympia), moved several years ago.
-
I don't think that Peter and I were ever in a show together, but we got to know each other through Harlequin Productions when we'd go to each other's cast parties, and I ushered for most shows that he was in.
-
I don't know if Peter will read Nick for the other acts, or if someone else (or two) will read.
-
I'm watching A Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
-
I'm going to go to work tomorrow and Thursday.
-
Today, a co-worker stopped by my area and asked if I wanted a tomato plant.
-
She said that she had way too many potted yellow heirloom tomato plants.
-
I said that I didn't but that my mom might.
-
I called my mom and she said that she'd live a couple of them.
-
I e-mailed my co-worker and asked if my mom could have two plants and she said that she'd be happy togive my mom two plants!
-
I'll get them either tomorrow or Thursday and bring them to my mom's on Friday, since I'm going over there, anyway.
-
PAGE FIVE DANCE!!
-
Oh! I almost forgot!
-
Today, I received three different packages from Amazon and the items in two, count 'em, TWO of them were damaged!! :o
-
One was the 4K and regular Blu-ray to 1917, and even though the mailing package AND the movie packaging looked completely intact, the 4K disc was cracked!
-
WTH??
-
The other package was a sugar-free vanilla frosting mix, and also, the outer package looked completely intact, but the actual packaging was somehow opened and all the powder was completely loose in the (fortunately sealed) plastic mailer!
-
I didn't have to open the mailing package to know that there was a problem. :P
-
I'll contact both sellers and get either refunds or replacements.
-
Fortunately, neither of these are gifts, so there isn't a time factor to receive the replacements (or refunds).
-
It's just so weird!
-
I've never received two different items from two different sellers and have both items damaged but not the packaging...and on the same day!
-
No TCB, no no one but me and ol' George.
-
Most unseemly.
-
Notes are up and so am I.
-
I'll try to go to bed by two.
-
Had a frozen Lean Cuisine for my snack - it wasn't terrible.
