Very good news about DR Elmore. I'm glad to hear he's up and around a bit.

Thanks again to DR Ginny for her part.

I don't normally watch horror movies, but there was a Stephen King one that I quite liked. I don't recall the name.

Agree on THE UNINVITED and several others. Some of the films mentioned I never thought of as horror movies, such a M, but I can't argue with that, either.

If you have to give a key in order to understand something, then you haven't communicated effectively.

This morning I checked my bank's website to try to learn why my branch was closed yesterday. I couldn't believe it. ALL the branches near me are "temporarily closed." I called the bank and was told it was due to Covid-19. Really? Covid could go on for a very long time; do they plan to stay closed indefinitely? They have made no decisions as to when to reopen. I understand taking precautions, but this is just ridiculous.

I did some searches. I would say that at least half of the banks on LA's Westside are closed. The Tomato Bank (don't you love the name?), a Japanese bank close to me, merged with another Japanese bank, but they are closing the branch on July 31. I finally found a small bank nearby with reasonable fees (read "no"), but you must make an appointment to come in! I spoke to the branch manager, who was pleasant and seemed sensible. I'll try to go in tomorrow and open an account.

I never, ever imagined that banking would be so difficult!

As for doing business during Covid, I just can't believe they can't find ways to do business.

Starting to watch Spike Lee's film of Passing Strange. He really good at directing music. I wish he had made the film of Rent, which he'd wanted to do.

My safe deposit box is at one of the branches that is closed. I don't need anything from it at the moment, but just how do they expect to handle that??

Oh, and did I mention that the bank made no effort whatsoever to INFORM its customers of the branch closures? No email, no letter. Nada. The sign on the door implied that the closure was for yesterday only, even though they knew it was indefinite.

This bank doesn't deserve to stay in business.

The day without music thing was clarified for me, but you would never have guessed it from the initial post and the responses - and it was couched within "I guess you missed the memo."  Well, yeah, guess I did.  The memo (I'm sure he means some Facebook stupidity) was that no one release any new music today, i.e. recordings, etc.  I find this stuff so beyond stupid and completely beyond my comprehension.  Stand in solidarity, absolutely.  The rest is someone doing the equivalent of a Facebook meme.

Who comes up with this stuff.

And the person posting it was doing it and is a musical director I've worked with on many occasions.  I had to rewrite my response six times because the first five were not so nice.

Good idea rethinking your response.

I then drove to Whole Foods Market. The line was halfway around the parking lot. We were all chatting among ourselves -- those of us who weren't glued to our phones. We had sufficient time to learn life histories.

How could I not think of my favorite horror film. THE UNINVITED.  Probably because I don't think of it as a horror film.

Our bank has been open all along.  There is hand sanitizer everywhere and the tellers are behind windows.

Jane, you'd be sickened if you saw downtown Santa Monica. The footage I saw was quite limited, but even so it looked like most of downtown was ravaged.

I don't see where it is any more dangerous than other places we all go. In fact, I'd say most banks are safer than supermarkets.

Well, I get to go home now!  I need to get home so that I can watch a reading of the first act of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, put on by friends of mine.  I'm sure it'll be really good.

Be back later.

We are totally digital. Our branches, what few there were, closed at the start of the pandemic. I don't know that they'll ever reopen.
