I often express what turn out to be unpopular opinions about movies, plays, and performers right here on HHW. I can tell when they are unpopular, because I get not ONE comment on said opinions....which is okay.
I just imagine DR ELMORE and MR BK and DR VIXMOM and DR CHAS SMITH and DR JOHN G [among others] shaking their heads and saying:
"Bless his heart....."
Gas is holding at $1.71.
DR Ginny, is your granddaughter's name being pronounced "Burneese" or the Italian "Ber-e-ni-chay?"

I’m not a fan of the original three Star Wars movies, so I have skipped the rest. Ditto Indiana Jones.
I’m no longer a fan of comic book movies. I read Marvel hand-me-downs as a kid and loved them. But what a self-righteous bore those movies are.
I’m not a fan of comedies in which the premise is the humiliation of someone in order to get laughs. So, nothing in the Fokkers vein.
I’m sure I’ll come up with more.
LOL DR JOHN G.

I will just say here:
BRIDESMAIDS
IMELDA STAUNTON
MY FAIR LADY - the movie
PIXAR MOVIES - well they all seem to be the SAME movie with different characters
Any version of THE LION KING

Harrumph! <sputter> That does it. Where's that UNFRIEND button?
Got some of my stuff done. Plenty more to go.
In the meantime, I'm listening to this Kings of Broadway thing:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhJDw-bfSn8&feature=youtu.be
I've seen a few complaints about it being not all that great, but I'm halfway through it and liking much of it. I've skipped a couple of songs that I don't know or didn't care to sit through. But I really like a few of the people whose names I didn't know, the pianist is absolutely tops, and it's well done technically.
So far.
On to Act 2.
Tonight I ordered dinner from Luke's Lobster, and it was wonderful: lobster mac'n'cheese and a trio of crab, shrimp, and lobster rolls. At the moment I am craving apple pie or apple turnover, but I'd settle for strawberry shortcake if I had any.

My birding buddy is still in the hospital. I have only had a couple of texts from her. She likes to be left alone when she's not feeling well.

We sent Bryan a package awhile ago. The tracking number shows it has been sitting in the post office for days now. Bryan said there hasn't been mail for about 5-6 days with the riots. He also also heard their post office was looted :(
I went to the hairdresser today for the first time since early March. Richard and I both wore masks, but many did not. Even with things rearranged a bit to allow more distance and altered schedules, there were still too many people to my liking. I may have to rethink things.
And earlier this morning I was able to find -- and buy -- toilet paper! There was plenty on the shelf at Ralph's, but very few paper towels. They no longer sell bagels. All pastries are packaged in plastic, but they still have birthday cakes and such.

I dislike noisy restaurants and avoid them.

I thought everyone was required to wear a mask, except maybe when trimming around the ears.

I am not sure that is an unpopular opinion. For me they are almost impossible.

Apparently, restaurant owners don't like things too quiet. The menu for The Counter restaurants touts the industrial design (read: NOISY) that they claim everyone loves.
I feel that far, far too much emphasis is put on vaccines. They are not 100% effective, in some cases only about 18 or 19%. They provide partial protection only. They are also filled with substances that simply should not be injected into anyone -- and there is little, if any, disclosure.
I'd like to see a vaccine for Covid, but a safe and effective treatment would be far more useful. If we had a treatment, getting infected wouldn't be such a big deal. Ideally, we'll eventually have both, but of the two the treatment should be a higher priority.
In China, doctors and herbalists have been looking for treatments ever since Covid hit. Chinese herbs in general are very effective, but, aside from my acupuncturist, I have not heard one medical professional here considering them or trying to learn from the Chinese. The studies done there showed that Covid patients who took Chinese herbs healed significantly faster than those who did not. We have a huge apothecary of herbs, well-researched and documented, available to us that we are ignoring. It strikes me as a bad case of Not Invented Here.

I suspect people spend less time lingering over dinner in noisy restaurants
Since we cancelled our July vacation I asked the boss if I could save the week and take 2 weeks in January and he said yes!

I called our timeshare exchange service and they Confirmed the week before our scheduled week so we’re set there

How nice that you now have a boss who listens and is on your side. Of course, these ARE unusual times.

Do you have access to any of the herbs recommended, just in case?
I agree we need both a vaccine and treatment. At the moment we don't have much of anything. We need a vaccine to reduce our chances of getting the virus and to reduce the severity of it. I worry about the safety of a vaccine that is produced too quickly.
We have been talking about going to Chicago in July. My heart sinks every time I look at all the people out there packed together without masks on.
I called Universal to see when our annual passes expire and it turns out they’ve extended them through mid March

Yes, my acupuncturist communicates regularly with the Chinese medical community. Astragulus, an herb grown widely in Wisconsin, interestingly, is the general consensus. I've been taking it since Covid hit the US. Chinese herbs are generally prescribed and sold in combination and the combination I'm taking is actually helping with another problem, one my Western doctor was unable to resolve.

I simply do not understand not wearing a mask when around a lot of people. I don't wear mine when I'm in the car, but I'm by myself. I even wear it now when taking out the trash. I didn't used to, but a neighbor has a horrible cough and often doesn't wear his mask. I don't want what he has, even if it's not Covid.

She's on the way home!
Well, vaccine-wise. Woefully behind on anything tech.
I am well stocked now on TP, paper towels, and Klennix.

I have been getting all of my Costco stuff from their website. It's very efficient. I am not comfortable going to the store, as it is very crowded and there are long lines.
DR Cilla vibes to your mother, and your family. I hope you can keep your mother at home.

Last Friday night, my mom, who is not to go outside by herself, went outside to pick flowers. We know she went out at least twice. The second time she fell had hit her head- we believe on the iron railing. She tried to get up and scraped up her knees and ended up laying in the driveway for 12-18 hours until her caretaker arrived for work. She called an ambulance. Mom had a big gash over her eye and other on her forehead and was in pool of blood. She was in the hospital for two days and is back home now. She's supposed to have 24 hours care, but it's sounding like they are only going to have someone come in until after she goes to bed. She's now limited to the first floor only. Her doctor wants her to go to the nursing home, but we're still doing everything we can to avoid it as there is no question she would will herself to die if that was to happen.

Vibes for Cillializ and her mom.
It felt good to get back, though.
Ricky was also sick this week. My vet is retiring so went back to the one that originally took care of Callie. I didn't leave there on the best of terms, but they are very good vets and it was a good visit. I haven't been there for 10 years, but they remembered me. Don't know if that's a good thing or not, but Ricky loves the pill pockets they recommended and he's getting better.
I've watched Ricky Gervais After Life twice this week. I haven't lost a spouse, but it looks like it may be both parents and a sister in a year. I think that qualifies. Mom could surprise us all, but I'm not sure she wants to:(
I went to dance class for the first time tonight. Two wore masks (including me), three did not. Social distancing was maintained.
Tomorrow night, I usher for the first time. People have to wear masks unless they're in their seats. I wonder how that's going to go over. It's a free event, so people shouldn't have a hard time playing by the rules in exchange for something free. But you never know.

We are not supposed to be getting after patrons without masks, but we are supposed to be offering them one. If they refuse, we're supposed to track down our patron services manager. Trouble is, there will only be one or two for an event in which the whole building will be open.
