DR JOHN G - Miss Donna played two characters on Dark Shadows. The second was Amanda who was the love of Quinton Collins' life.
As they were fleeing for their lives in a 1795 parallel time episode - they had to cross a footbridge. The bridge collapsed and Amanda was killed.
Donna said when they rehearsed it, they cut the camera and she jumped a short way into what was supposed to be the gully. then they threw a handful of dirt on her.
Camera time - she jumped and they dumped a whole bag of fuller's earth on top of her.

Just learned that one of the people at the cookout on Saturday has been diagnosed with strep throat. I am crossing my fingers and everything else.
VistaVision version of MR BK's millstone.
One Life is a pretty wonderful tearjerker. The acting elevates it above a kind of made-for-TV feel.

Very exciting news!

Yes, BK solved a good puzzler for me yesterday. I'd been scanning some color slides I'd taken in L.A. in the late 1970s, and I had two that showed some outdoor performance or presentation that was set up to take place in Century City, between the Plitt and Shubert theaters. I didn't remember these two photos at all, even though they're obviously mine. But I also knew I hadn't watched whatever the event was, so I thought BK might have a clue. We had a date to go on, and he found the announcement solving the puzzle in the LA Times.
The whole discovery is a bit of serendipity: Stephen Schwartz's The Magic Show was on stage at the Shubert (sadly, I never saw it) and there just happened to be a Friday the 13th coming up, so they put a stage setting and two pianos out there in the plaza and were about to hold an amateur magician's contest that Friday at noon, and have a few songs performed by the cast of the show. I have no idea what I was doing there on a Friday during the day, but I walked by and took those pictures, and I'll just bet there are very few others in existence. BK was busy with The First Nudie Musical at the time (this was in June 1975) so he didn't see it either. So once again, newspapers.com saves the day.
Here's the better picture of the two. The other one thankfully gave us a hint of what was playing at the movie theeder then, so we had a date to go on.

While on my walk this morning, I chatted with a woman who talked about the downpour of rain at her house yesterday morning. She lives about three miles from me. We had not a drop.

VooDoo Donuts sounds like a Roger Corman movie featuring Beverly Garland.

I've been trying to remember what I once heard: was Malaria imported by Jeffrey Epstein to work in Tramp'sescortmodeling agency?

Finishing up David Copperfield. I must reread the book again, though Dora is so insipid that I wish I could just cut her from the novel.
I actually got strep throat in the early to mid 90s, and got antibiotics for 10 days, which made it go away. But as soon as I was done with the antibiotics, it came right back! :o
But since I had gotten strep throat three times within six months, the doctor said that I could get my tonsils out, so I did. I've had no problems since!
So right now, I, my sister friend Larry, and my uncle Michael, are on our way to Portland! We'll wave "hi" as we pass Vancouver, Jane!
Michael wants to get an iPhone because there's no sales tax in Oregon. I can only assume that, in general, iPhones are cheaper in Portland than Germany. :-\

LOL. The last time I read the book I learned to appreciate her good qualities.

Definately go to Powell's. Voodoo Donuts is a fun place to take out of town guests.
Ozzy Osbourne has died.
Saw this on MSN:
House Republicans on the Appropriations Committee approved an amendment to the interior, environment and related agencies annual spending bill that would rename the opera house in the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts the “First Lady Melania Trump Opera House.”

He said that it would be about $200 MORE in Germany for the same phone! AND the no sales tax is a big bonus!

We have a list of donuts for several people. ;)
TOD:
Since using Amazon Fresh, the brand they've mainly offered has been Garnier, and that's been good.
Liam uses Pet Paw shampoo, and hasn't complained.
It’s a long story but I took a job when I first moved to NYC as an assistant to a photographer who lived in a hotel in Mt. Kisco. She was bizarre, but every day she had appointments to show her portfolio to some of the wealthiest people in Greenwich, CT. And every day, ended the same way. Stop at Caldor and buy the most bottles of White Rain shampoo I could get for $50. And the next day, I’d show up in her hotel room to pick her up, and every bottle would be empty. Just a big pile of empty bottles. What she did with it, I’ll never know. I think if you spent all night pouring 20 bottles of shampoo directly down the drain, you couldn’t make it disappear like that.
That was just the tip of a very disturbed iceberg.

Which version did you watch? Yes, her best qualities are at the end as she seems to have insight to what David really needed, more than he did ;D It really wasn't fair to her that he expected more from her than she was capable of doing.

My sister visited us in Ashland. I heard this loud splash from the bathroom and groaned to Keith that she put Echo in the bath. He didn't believe that she would do such a thing. Yup, sure enough she had. First of all, Echo did not need a bath. Worse was my trying to explain that dogs can't always tolerate people shampoo and Echo and that Echo was sensitive.
My sister didn't believe me and fortunately Echo was fine. I would rather not have been believed then to have dealth with a reaction.
Oh no, I hope you got paid.

That's a big difference. We also buy our phones over the border. Did he put a hold on the phone he wants and make sure it is internationally friendly?
George, did you go to Pioneer Place or a different location?

Larry asked one of the Apple workers about Michael taking it to Germany and the guy said that they're unlocked and can be used anywhere.
George, did you go to Pioneer Place or a different location?
I don't know which one we went to, but Pioneer Place doesn't sound familiar.
We went to the one on 3rd Avenue:
Were you able to walk to Powell's and Voodoo?
I never go to Apple stores.
What doughnuts did you get?
I never go to Apple stores.
Neither do I. Android all the way!!
What doughnuts did you get?
A banana cream, a mango cream, a something else-cream, and a "Cock and Balls." ;D
Does anyone like Peter Greenaway’s movies? I have liked some. Others were rot. The one I have on now, A Zed and Two Naughts, is more rot than not.
He made Prospero’s Books, 8 1/2 Women, The Draughtsman’s Contract and more. Perhaps his most famous/infamous work is The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover.
Some wild shampoo stories around these here parts.

A Zed and Two Naughts spells ZOO. In the movie, a zoo with amputee animals, human limbs are grafted onto the animals. There’s plenty of nudity, trash, hysteria, classism and pretentiousness. And great colors and cinematography.
Oh no, I hope you got paid.
Rodzinski, I was wondering, too, whether you got paid for those three weeks.
Greenaway, not a fan. Don’t really hear him spoken of in reverence anymore.
PS - what notation software do you use primarily, DR MichaelG? Have you switched to Dorico?
