Well, you've read the notes, the notes had dolls and shouted, "Sparkle, Neely, sparkle," and now it is time for you to post until the doll-popping cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: BROUHAHA!
-
Notes sparkled. Neely’d.

Last night, I ushered for a local production of Rent for the second time. I volunteered in concessions a couple of other times also, but I only watched the first act for one of those two shows. It was a very good production and the almost full audience loved it. Tomorrow is their final performance. Definitely well done.
-
Good morning.
-
Yesterday we saw the tour of Moulin Rouge. It was ... interesting.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept well last night. I am completely surprised by that since the past two nights were dreadful.
-
DR Laura, I detested Moulin Rouge; it remains one of the worst things I have ever had to sit through, also one of the loudest.
-
DR Jeanne, best of luck with your real estate negotiations.
-
DR ChasSmith, did you get the file I sent?
-
I need to look over my score from yesterday' I don't think I like what I wrote, and I may start again from scratch.
-
It was beautiful, but it's one I don't need to see again.
-
Elmore, you must not have seen the new version of Oklahoma!
-
Good morning, all.
-
Long day ahead.
-
Vibes for Jeanne.
-
Ha! Power outage last night....most annoying.
-
DR GEORGE I didn't know you could pay $30 for another year of Windows 10.
Where can I read about that?
-
Ha! Power outage last night....most annoying.
Sounds bad! Hope all is OK and there was no damage.

Since Moulin Rouge was mentioned so glowingly :) this was my parody of the eleven o'clock number from Moulin Rouge -
"Rolling in the Deep" parody - my attempt at singing it in the style of Adele's ex Slinky Sunbeam, who supposedly caused all the overwrought angst the song was about

P.S. I wonder, though - if you date someone whose parents named him Slinky Sunbeam, I'm not sure what kind of reliability and steadiness you're expecting.
-
Good morning, all.
-
DR ChasSmith, did you get the file I sent?
Yes, sir, and I thank you very much, even before being on the right device to download it! (I've had things set up differently than usual, yesterday and today, long story...)
-
DR Laura, I detested Moulin Rouge; it remains one of the worst things I have ever had to sit through, also one of the loudest.
Just watching the original movie made me never want to bother with the musical. :)
-
Elmore, you must not have seen the new version of Oklahoma!
You mean the dreadful country western where Curly shoots Jed in cold blood?
If so, I was smart enough to avoid it.
-
Want to hear something funny?
You people talk about paying for another year of Windows 10, while my old HP laptop is still running Windows 7.
It's never online or at risk except for a quick moment when I'm transferring something, and I keep Malwarebytes running on it. But it, and the older software, are alive and well and doing fine. Till I eventually have to replace it, of course. My online life is on the Apple machines.
-
Spectrum email is out this morning. It's been hell.
-
I didn't let myself get within a country mile of that Oklahoma!
-
We get another three-day stretch of 90+ degrees Fahrenheit starting tomorrow.
A summer from Hell.
-
George, the Stourbridge Junction Railway Station Cat, is one of my major Facebook sites. I love today's photo of him
-
It usually takes us an hour to get out of the parking lot after a show. We were out in about 10 minutes after Oklahoma! The big rush was at intermission.
-
I made lemon scones, apple muffins, blueberry peach muffins, and banana walnut mini loaves.
-
I hope no one brings donuts.

Laura, when that Oklahoma was on tour, did they serve chili and cornbread at intermission like they did on Broadway?
-
AI's description of the chili and cornbread at the "Oklahoma!" revival
In the Broadway revival of "Oklahoma!", chili and cornbread are served to the audience during intermission. This unique experience, inspired by the show's setting in the Oklahoma Territory, provides a taste of the time period and a welcome respite from the intense performance. Eater reports that the chili is even offered in a vegan-friendly version to accommodate all theatergoers.
The chili intermission is a distinctive feature of this particular production of "Oklahoma!". It's not a standard practice for all Broadway shows, but it's a popular element of this revival, drawing attention and praise. The Wall Street Journal notes that the chili also serves as a convenient meal replacement for some theatergoers.
The "Oklahoma!" production also utilizes other unconventional staging elements, such as having the band onstage and blurring the lines between audience and performer, making the chili an integral part of the immersive experience.
-
Sounds like that chili was doing some heavy lifting.
-
Sounds like that chili was doing some heavy lifting.
If you believe what AI says!
-
It must have been very expensive to do at every performance. With or without the vegan chili option.
-
Not that I saw, Freddie. Gammage holds about 3000 people, so I don't think they'd be able to do that.
-
Was it included in the ticket price?
-
Not that I saw, Freddie. Gammage holds about 3000 people, so I don't think they'd be able to do that.
That makes sense. The theedur it was in on Broadway, the Circle in the Square, is one if the smallest on Broadway.
-
There's already enough trash left behind at Gammage Theater from the booze and the sweets. I remember when going to the theater was special -- not like going to the movies.
-
Although chili and cornbread is a pretty good gimmick.
-
Was it included in the ticket price?
I didn't see that production, but I assumed so.
-
That cast looked so mad when they were singing on the Tony Awards Show....and sorry Ado Annie in a wheelchair just doesn't work for me.
-
Kinda like when I saw the Hoop De Doo Revue at Disney World’s Frontierland. Mid-show, the cast marched on stage (to the music) with metal buckets of fried chicken and started marching out into the audience, serving all the tables.

With all the times we went to Disney World, we never saw the Hoop De Doo Revue. Was the Hoop De Doo Revue a separate admission, or included with admission to one of the theme parks?
-
I hope no one brings donuts.
Fingers crossed.
-
I got up early today and have been cleaning, doing laundry, and organizing all morning.
-
Thank goodness Keith really does the organizing ;D
-
Back to work.

Reserve ticket show that happened in a theater out on Frontier Island where people camp and stay in cabins. We had to take a boat from the main park over there.
-
It sounds like fun.
-
In about ten minutes you can see Banana Ball on the CW.
-
Happy Sunday....On this week's Broadway Radio Show, a look back at the history of musicals at Broadway's Plymouth Theatre, now known as the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre. Since it opened way back in 1917, it's hosted the premieres of works by some of the greatest playwrights, but as the decades passed, more and more musicals debuted at the Plymouth, including several Tony Award winners!

We missed that.
There had been what sounds like a similar type of add-on marketing adventure, I mean experience, set-up for the Polynesian Luau at the Polynesian Village Resort, which we went to when we stayed at that resort.
Google says they closed down the luau in 2020, though.

Genuflect! Genuflect! Genuflect!

I let go of tons of stuff, kept much of it as well. We have silver that were wedding gifts. I polished everything I wanted to keep and now my shoulder is done with heavy stuff for the day.
-
Keith has made it much easier to find, and to see everything we have.
-
Good afternoon.
-
DR John, I love the movie The Courtship of Eddie's Father. I also liked the tv show very much though not as much as the film.
-
Aww, I'm sorry about Tom Lehrer. His albums are in my favorites on Spotify.
-
We saw Tomfoolery many many years ago at one of the small community theaters.
-
That cast looked so mad when they were singing on the Tony Awards Show....and sorry Ado Annie in a wheelchair just doesn't work for me.
My gut feeling was that those boys were taking advantage of the poor girl in the wheelchair.
-
The Ado Annie on tour was "Sis." She was big and mean. I just didn't have the feeling the boys would cozy up to her at all.
-
Back from the mail place. Got a very sweet fan letter from an eighteen year old gal who LOVES The Partridge Family.

Aw, that's nice. BK. Are you going to answer?

Oh, no! Did Tom Lehrer die? We were pretty good friends in the 1980s, and I don't recall seeing him after the mid-1990s.
-
Ha! Power outage last night....most annoying.
Power outage? How about a water main break??
-
And:
-
The great Tom Lehrer. I was always happy to realize he was still alive.
“Be prepared!”

MOST fortunately, it happened at the front of the condo complex, so I only had go without water for a couple of hours. It's back on now.

It was at the front of the condo complex, so it's nowhere near my specific building. There is an owner who is most directly affected (that's his window in the picture). I'm too far away, so I just had to wait for it to get fixed.
-
Oh my, George!
It's all better now...for me, at least. I have no idea what kind of water damage that that owner will have to deal with. At least, no one here has basements.

“Be prepared!”
Yes! He was one of the major "soundtracks" to my college years, then it seemed like we never heard of him for a long time. And then whenever we would, it was always such a wondrous and reassuring thing.

I did answer - she enclosed a photo of me and David Cassidy in a scene - so, I signed that, but also wrote her a little note.

Keith got Wordle in four.
-
We just watched the second episode (out of four episodes) of the streaming series ADOLESCENCE, which got a lot of Emmy nominations.
So far, the series is very powerful and disturbing, and even shocking, especially in depictions about how teenagers behave towards each other on the internet.
We decided not to binge watch it to the end of the series, though, and stick to one episode at a time.
-
I really will never understand anyone who's rude or dismissive of a fan. Ever. But then I learned that etiquette and necessity from the wonderful Robert Weede and I never forgot it and I live by it. You can change someone's life in such positive ways.
-
Just been zoning out on the couch like so much fish. I watched some hilarious Dame Edna interviews and what was, for me, the greatest game show, even though I really wouldn't call it that, in the history of television, which I'll write about in the notes.
-

The competition is Saturday.

Now watching The Ex-Mrs. Bradford, a 30s mystery comedy with William Powell as a doctor who wants to be left alone, but his ex, Jean Arthur, seems to be a magnet for trouble. It’s a blueprint for The Thin Man movies, but the direction isn’t crisp or particularly focused.
-
And in a stroke of genius casting: Eric Blore is playing a butler. Now, whoever would have thought of that?

Five!

Gelatin is a clue to the murder. But haven’t seen any killer Jello molds. Yet.

Hoping singdaw and his DH are enjoying the reunion!

Tom Lehrer almost outlived PBS :(
-
Pill three in five minutes - then I'll watch something - just "saved" a bunch of stuff to watch later.
-
My jaw is sore - i think I slept on it wrong.....took a couple of pills.
-
I have three things I have to take care of and instead of spreading them out over the whole week, I am going to try to get everything done in the morning.
Time will tell.
-
Page 5? Oh me oh my.
-
I was inspired to watch The Last of Howard episode of Partridge Family as the kids’ bedtime viewing.
-
My son wanted to know if it was filmed on an actual cruise. Like, did the ship leave port or was it all done while docked?
-
Seemed like a lot of dialogue had to be looped. Even the indoor stuff. Was that a challenge?
-
The entire episode was shot on the Fairsea. A few of the actors (not the core cast) got to cruise to Acapulco, stopping at Puerta Vallerta and Mazatlan first. The cast and crew joined us in Acapulco and we shot the episode cruising back to LA.
-
The entire episode had to be looped - oh joy - and what a day THAT was. I had never actually looped anything before. Quite a first time. I got used to it pretty quickly but it was exhausting.
-
I had to do a form of looping on a TV movie version of If I Had a Million, but Universal had a really clever way of doing it I thought. As soon as I wrapped my scenes, I was driven to the studio. There, i was put in a booth. They played my location dialogue and then I recorded it exactly as I heard it. If it was too long or short, I'd repeat it until it was right - that was a piece of cake.
-
All this stuff is in the first memoir, There's Mel, There's Woody, and There's You. Really fun looping was doing a TV version of The Creature Wasn't Nice - we had to replace some mild cursing.
-
On Prime Suspect, Dana Plato was supposed to come in and loop her death scene. She never showed, never called - she was even then starting to spiral down. So, I called my friend Marsha Kramer - she came down and all the screaming in the death scene is her. Thankfully, all the production sound on the outdoor scenes was useable.
-
Why are we on this damn page?
-
Heavens to Mergatroid.
-
DR FREDDIE I think the power outage was heat related.
WOW DR GEORGE that's some Niagara!
I know! On the condo complex's private FB page, there's a seven-second video of the water just shooting all over that wall next to the window!
-
I guess they did get it under control fairly quickly.
-
thanks DR GEORGE I bookmarked that page for future reference.
Glad that I could help!
-
Keith got Wordle in four.
Great!
-
I can't believe it.
-
I really can't believe it.
-
No way I can believe it.
-
Because it is, frankly, unbelievable.
-
And therefore it cannot be believed.
-
Where has everyone BEEN today that we are still on page FIVE???
-
We haven't been on page FIVE in years.
-
And we've been on it for hours and hours so it is my impression that there is gaslighting going on.
-
See?
-
We really must not ever end on page five.
-
Not even page six, really.
-
Especially this early on page six.
-
But I shan't make with the frivolous posts just to get us the HELL off this damn page.
-
Oh no, I shan't do THAT.
-
That would just create fat.
-
And frankly be old hat.
-
A little tit for tat.
-
We ain't going down on the mat.
-
We'll stay at bat.
-
We've got nine lives just like that darn cat.
-
Don't make me pull out a gat.
-
I'm standing pat.
-
But first, let me swat that gnat.
-
You dirty rat.
-
I stood and then I sat.
-
We gotta get another page on
-
Don’t give up the ship.
-
No, I shan't make ANY frivolous posts.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
George just disappears. Perhaps he's reading a new book.
-
And is mesmerized by it.
-
Who knows?
-
The Shadow knows.
-
I imagine looping like that Partridge episode is a pain, trying to recapture your comic style, where you have little witty asides and awkward verbal tics like that character had.
-
And...
-
See?
-
Page 7!
-
When page 7 is a victory, it’s been a slow day.
-
Doing the first scene by the pool was insanity - but eventually you get the rhythm of it. But I really preferred the Universal way of doing it.
-
I know, right?
-
One really must say that young Susan Dey, aside from being lovely, was a generous actress. She really gives you all you need with her reactions.
-
Like… the question would be why she’d give this guy the time of day, but she performs it in a way that’s completely believable. She’s just like… ok, dude’s a little odd, but I’ll go with it.
-
George just disappears. Perhaps he's reading a new book.
Not yet. My desktop computer is acting quite wonkily, and I'm hoping that said wonkilyness will pass quickly! :-\
-
Well, we loved Susan. It's all in the book - the flirting was genuine :) And the kiss at the end was written as a kiss on the cheek. I said, "I'm not kissing her on the cheek." And the rest is history - her first screen kiss.
