Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke obliquely of the chest CAT scan, and now it is time for you to post until the CAT cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PROMPT!
-
Vibes for BK that everything goes well with getting to and taking the CAT scan.
-
TOD: I think the earliest that had this effect was "We Go Together" on the TV commercial for "Grease."
Then, when the title song for "Over Here" was done by The Andrews Sisters on the Tonys, that had a similar effect.
As far as songs hitting me that way suddenly on the radio, there were "Don't Cry Out Loud" which had me seeking out any songs I could find recorded by Melissa Manchester, and Rupert Holmes' "Escape (The Pina Colada Song)."
-
Good morning, all!
-
I had a nght of weird dreams, although the only one I remember now was something to do with a concert of Sondheim's Follies in London.
-
On Sunday, a Facebook friend asked me to sign 16 copies of Annabelle & Thatch for her granchildren. If her list of names arrives today, I'll be signing a lot of books. If it doesn't, I'll spend the day dealing with the list of items for this senior citizens aid doohinky.
-
Vibes for a good appt. for MR BK.
-
I love the character of Franz Schreker in Cabaret.
One of my favorites.
-
TOD: I would guess it would be when I saw Tex Van Cliburn on the Ed Sullivan Show playing the Tchaikovsky First Piano Concerto in B Flat Minor.
I think I was in the second grade and we had read about him in the Weekly Reader winning a piano contest AGAINST the Russkies. There was a photo of him meeting President Eisenhower.
I loved the music and my parents bought me the Extended 45 RPM version with him on the cover. Still have it and play it from time to time.
And got lots of Tchaik from the library in the years to come.....and bought more when I got a job.....
-
Good morning, friends.
-
And others.
-
~~~APPOINTMENT VIBES~~~ for BK!!!
-
Loved that clip, DR John G.
-
This stained glass window depicts the famous hymn, "I Come Tuba Garden Alone."
-
Good morning, all.
-
I've half-remembered a lot of dreams lately, but the ones from last night were gone the moment I opened my eyes.
-
Good luck to BK for a breezy trip across the hill and back, and a good CAT.
You'll be right in my old nabe. I'd suggest stopping in Dolores afterward for a delicious cheeseburger and some Suzy-Qs.
-
Speaking of "Suzy-Q" - it's part of the lyric to "Over Here" ("Truckin' and a Suzie Q’in’ all-a the time")
Last night DR MichaelG said:
TOD: I can't abide even the smell of peanut butter. Overall, peanuts are one of my least favorite foods, though they can be OK in a supporting role. No allergy, just preference. So I'm no help at all regarding the merits of different brands!
That's amazing! You're not the first, but I think I've only known one or two other people who never liked peanuts or peanut butter at all.
But in your next post, you bring back a memory of tuna sandwiches I'd rather forgotten. We had them in our school lunches, too, and I'm thinking that probably wasn't my favorite thing at the time, but I like the vague visual/taste/memory sensation I'm getting right now. I'm thinking those could have gotten messy in a lunch sack, too, but they probably weren't made too thick. These days I tend to pile it on, to the point that when I'm done with a tuna sandwich, half of its contents are still on my plate. I also tend to make a fancier, or busier, tuna salad than my mom ever would have, so it's automatically a little sloppier. Must work on this.
-
Definitely recalling overflowing tuna fish sandwiches needing a plastic fork at least.
-
As for the difference between StarKist and others, I've never in my life tried to figure that out. And I should. What would you, or anyone, say the differences are between the major brands?
The only "distinction" I've made in recent years is getting pouches instead of cans. That started when I was trying some real low-carbing just for the heck of it (it worked), and I learned from others that it's easy and convenient to take pouches with you to work or wherever and eat it right out of the pouch, or dump it out and throw some S&P on it, or whatever. And it's dry in comparison, which we found appealing.
-
It felt normal when I first logged on, but now I'm getting the lags when hitting Reply, Post or Save, or changing a page.
-
By the bye...
Late yesterday afternoon I made a PB&J. In so doing, I polished off both the peanut butter and the jam. Both. Completely. It was a perfect tie.
-
Notes retained. Fetched.
-
I loved tuna as a kid, just eating it right out of the can with a fork. Not so much sandwiches. Star-Kist was definitely the fave. Now I would not be so brand loyal, but still can tell the differences. I think Star-Kist had bigger chunks, Bumblebee was more finely chopped. Otherwise just whatever salt-to-fish ratio, I suppose. Although now there is soy of some sort added to lots of ‘em.
As for those pouches, I have a hard time getting the tuna out of the bottom corners.
-
This looks interesting, seems to be a movie musical tied together by Neil Diamond songs, starring Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson.
SONG SUNG BLUE - Official Trailer - This Christmas
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZqU7iiHFCzw
I really like the line "You don't want to be a Neil Diamond impersonator, you want to be a Neil Diamond interpreter"
-
Star Kist for me, too.
-
The bottom corners! Yes! It's impossible to get it all - with fork, spoon, or knife. It's a problem with all things that come in those pouches. I'll be standing there looking closely at the food in the corner, and at what I'm doing with whatever utensil I'm wielding, and it makes no sense that I keep MISSING.
For a while we were getting a few pouches of cat food along with the cans. In addition to the impossibility of getting it all out, they were messy and smelly as all HELL because of the amount of liquid that went all over the place. No more.
-
Very interesting, those differences.
-
Two!
-
Good morning, all.
-
Weird dreams. Dystopian future. I was on a team that had to recreate weapons from fragments. We couldn't, so we made useful things. Wrong answer. We had to keep working at it.
-
I think some of the most unexpected music discoveries for me would be Schoenberg and Nine Inch Nails. Opposite spectrums, but both fascinated me. I heard Schoenberg in class. I saw Nine Inch Nails at Woodstock '94.
-
So last night, continuing my impromptu tiny Sidney binge of the night before, I followed A Patch of Blue with To Sir, With Love. It's also excellent, but with a somewhat lighter touch due to the kids, the songs, etc. Speaking of which, I love the title song, but by the time we get to the big moment when it's sung in the movie itself, we're already familiar with it, and I think that moment would hit even harder if that had been the first time, at least since the main titles, that we were hearing it and getting the full force of it. And then we get it yet again, at the end. It's still wonderful, but, you know. This Twilight Time release includes some worthy extras which I will enjoy soon.
-
I then returned to the beach party genre with Fireball 500. I was enjoying it, but knew I was getting too sleepy to see it through, so I stopped at about the 30-minute mark. I'll enjoy the rest tonight, along with Thunder Alley, and that will be that for the "Frankie and Annette" set.
-
I'm up, I'm up - five hours of sleep, I think.
-
Those who've read Benjamin Kritzer know that for years I could and would not eat tuna due to a field trip to a tuna canning factory. I describe it in detail. My tuna for the past many years is Bumble Bee premium in the gold cans.
-
A little laggy even now. He's keeping his eye on it.
-
Sending more CAT scan vibes, BK.
Sixteen copies?? Very cool, Larry!
One of the suggested videos after that for me was this trailer for a new movie opening in October called Nouvelle Vague (New Wave) that was filmed in black and white:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=UufRzKVFseg
-
A playful, poignant love letter to cinema, Nouvelle Vague reimagines the making of Jean-Luc Godard’s Breathless in an exuberant exploration of the youthful rebellion and creative chaos that shaped the French New Wave. Directed by Richard Linklater, starring Zoey Deutch, Guillaume Marbeck, and Aubry Dullin.
-
DR GEORGE that looks like a terrific movie.
-
I shall now be on my way to an appointment.
-
Bruce, GOOD VIBES FOR THE CAT SCAN AND RESULTS!
Interesting reaction to it. I felt knowing the song, the words, and the story, now made it extra sweet and special.
I’m exactly the opposite. I heard Nine Inch Nails in class and saw Schoenberg at Woodstock ‘94.
-
Chas, I end up ripping the pouch apart to flatten the whole thing and get to that hidden tuna. I will not be denied.
-
Good point on the use of “To Sir…”
-
"To Serve With Love" could be a title of a cookbook.
On the shelf next to “To Serve Man.”
I think if you look at the ingredient list you'll see the difference. My recollection is that the others have some kind of extra ingredient that Star Kist didn't. It tasted like that, anyhow. Wild Planet is higher quality (and higher priced) tuna packed without water or oil. The skipjack is the darker tuna which I prefer to the lighter albacore.
All the best, BK!
-
Good morning.
-
The doctor appointments went well. They put us in a room together. My bad cholesterol was a little high, as a result of eating red meat so I can donate blood, so I'll give up the meat. My DH's A1C was a little high, so he was instructed to lose 5 pounds. Recheck in 4 months.
-
It has been a ridiculously horrible morning. In the past two weeks, the tenant in 1C has come up to my apartment twice to inform me the plumbers are in her a[artment checking out a plumbing issue requires her to flush my toilet. Fine, go ahead. She won't deal with the tenant in 2C because she's afraid of her!
-
But it looks like we'll both be around for a while.
-
So, this morning, I've got everything pertaining to tis senior citizen issue spread out all opver my computer table./ I'm scanning documents and printing the scans and trying to keep tack of what I'm doing, and a plumber shows up: can he flush my toilet? I agree and tell him not to let Stella out when he goes. Five minutes later, the tenant in 1C shows up. Can I call the tenant in 2C and ask her to let the plumbers in to flush her toilet. At that point I lost it and began yelling over the fact that I was busy and there was no reason I should be involved. Either the plumbers or building management should be dealing with this shit. I was in the middle of my own fucking mess.
-
I mean, really? You're too afraid of the neighbor above you to communicate over a plumbing issue? Grow up, dammit.
-
But it looks like we'll both be around for a while.
Great to hear that!
Back from the CAT scan. Took ten minutes, but they were behind ten minutes but I still got out ten minutes earlier than predicted. Food ordered. And I need it.
-
I could achieve a nice new number today.
-
You never know.
-
The Shadow knows.
-
Getting to Laurel Canyon to go over the hill - a five minute drive - took twenty. One on Laurel it was fine.
-
Then, at 1:30 I called the corner bodega and placed an order. At 2:15, I called to ask about it. It finally arrived at 2:35. What the hell is going on today?
-
That 1C/2C situation is batshit insane!
-
I was just in Shop Rite picking up a few things, so while all of this talk of tuna was fresh in my mind, I stopped in that aisle and browsed. And browsed. And browsed. My, there's a lot of ways to package and market tuna! And it looks like you have to be really careful in picking up the cans you want. In those from a given manufacturer, they look quite alike. It's dizzying.
-
What’s so scary about the gal in 2C?
-
Usually a plumber is very pleased to show up at a lady’s door and she happily lets him in and they get along famously. In movies I watch, anyway.
LOL!
The doctor wrote a prescription for us to get covid shots. What about all that tax money we spent to create the vaccination? Let everyone who wants one have one!
-
I am very glad that my son and DIL believe in vaccines. Grandson is fully vaccinated.
-
When I was traveling to California frequently when there was a whooping cough epidemic there many years ago, I requested a vaccination because I'm around kids at church. It's the responsible grown-up thing to do. I got another one before Grandson was born.
-
That's enough of me ranting.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER.
The Girl in 2 C. That's the title of my next novel.
Not only that, they get there in less than a minute!
-
I messaged my doctor's office yesterday and asked for a COVID 19 prescription but have not heard anything from them yet.
They say give them 48 hours to respond to a non emergency message.
I think I will also ask them to flush their toilet.
From DR John:
It reminded me of the time I got to meet Harold Nicholas after a touring performance of The Tap Dance Kid. He was very nice to a fan who had seen all of his movies, which surprised him. One of my all-time favorite memories.
What a wonderful experience.
-
DR George, glad your rehearsal went well, and the name of your character is easy to remember.
Bruce, I am glad your eye lid is drooping less.
Enjoying The View from Lake Como by Adriana Trigiani. It’s not what I thought it would be. And I mean that in a good way.
Good news from DR LAURA and MR BK - doctor wise.
I just read a little of the sample. I liked the opening. After that I'm not too sure. Is there humor mixed in? Is the main character likeable?
-
Jane, did you get through all of UNTAMED?
Very surprising final episode, I thought. So glad to have seen it. Thank you for mentioning it the other day!
-
The final scene ended with a screen with a promise of a Season 2.
It was renewed. Keeping the lead, in a new park with a new mystery.
I used to read Nevada Barr's mysteries about the park ranger Anna Pigeon. Every book was in a different location.
For awhile I hiked with a former park ranger who had been a park ranger with Nevada Barr.
Wow, I just read that the Anna Pigeon series will air next year.
The Girl in 2 C. That's the title of my next novel.
Is that a prequel to The Girl in 14G (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=FCWbKPoWPKk)? ;D
-
Keith got Wordle in three.
Congrats to Keith!
-
DR George, glad your rehearsal went well, and the name of your character is easy to remember.
Thanks, Jane. But George Glossop is only one of my characters. I'm also the minister at the end of the show (and I was also the minister at the end of Mamma Mia! :D ), and an old man and general ensemble.
-
Sour cream peach pie in the oven.
That sounds quite tasty!
-
Have you gotten to die onstage before, DR George?
I never have.
-
I was Jukes in Peter Pan and died off-stage, and as Hero in Forum, I tried to kill myself (quite humorously and not successfully), but no actual on stage death before. :)
-
I know those movies DR RODZINSKI but usually in mine it's a guy delivering a pizza.
Mine, too. ;)
Definitely...as long as I don't hurt myself falling to my knees which is what gives Hyde the opportunity to break my neck. ::)
-
Tonight, the Governors (of which Glossop is one) learned "Board of Governors," and now, I'm done with rehearsal for tonight. :)
-
Time to head home!
But before I go...
Listening to Boop! I like the star and some of the music.
-
Good night, all.
-
Listening to Boop! I like the star and some of the music.
I bought the CD, but haven't taken the time to listen to it yet, but I can in my car to and from rehearsals.
-
Finished with my viewing. I still have to take pill three in an hour, which means I need some kind of food.
-
Page six?
-
What are we, the New York Post?
-
All weekend, the weather idiots said everything would be MUCH cooler by today. Well, no.
-
Have you gotten to die onstage before, DR George?
I never have.
Enjoy it! The biggest applause I ever got on stage was when I was playing Mr. Fogg and Johanna shot me.
-
Didn't feel like anything I have here, so ordered a soup/salad combo from House of Pies. Should be here in thirty minutes.
-
Where in tarnation iS everyone?
-
Food should have been here already, but hopefully soon.
-
In the meantime, I wrote the notes, so that's done.
-
Shouldn't some people be here posting away?
-
Food arrived - supposed to be a bowl of clam chowder and small salad. Soup was some horrid vegetable soup, so I got a refund for that.
-
About to eat the salad.
-
Well, this is ridic.
-
Where the HELL is everyone?
-
Salad was good - not enough dressing.
-
Stingy on the dressing.
-
Wow, I think it's time we whup George upside the head.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
Whup that rapscallion.
-
Have you gotten to die onstage before, DR George?
Wow, I think it's time we whup George upside the head.
Zoinks! I zonked out! :o
Oh good, page 7 at least.
Rupert of Page Rupert should be happy. ;)
