Well, you've read the notes, the notes were indeed extra crispy, and now it is time for you to post until the extra crispy cows come home.

Topic of the Day: At Long Last Love and Xanadu are the two that I can think of. :)

Good morning, all!
-
Awful night of sleep. I could not get comfortable and sharing my bed with Annabelle & Thatch can be either fun or hell. Last night was hell. Curiously, Stella, who lkes sleeping next to me during the day while I'm watching TV, doesn't come near the bed after 9:00PM. I wonder if A & T have told her to get lost?
-
DR Freddie, the Facebook friend lives in Florida. I think she's getting these 25 books as Hanukka gifts. I just want her to resolve the number of books she wants and let me sign them and get them to her.
-
DR Rodzinski, I didn't realize Annabelle & Thatch was available through Barnes & Noble! Thanks for letting mne know.
-
I am taking it very easy today. Tomorrow is hopefully laundry day, and all I really want to do today is laze around and hpefully get some sleep.

Former DR Charles Pogue is ideed living in Kentucky, but I can never remember if he is in Lexington or Louisville.

I see, thanks for answering, Larry. It is wonderful to have a fan like that, and she sounds worth the extra effort!

Oh....I guess there WERE some words scratched on the bullets.....the cross-eyed fool was talking about it last night and bragging about how great they had done....

Summer is back! 90 and humid.

The past two weeks have been cool and Fall-like.
-
BK, glad that you finally found some extra crispy orange chicken that was worthy.
General Tso's tastes close to orange flavor, at least at our local Ollie's restaurant - and I do notice that the General Tso's chicken from our Ollie's seems quite variable as to crispiness, though the flavor of the sauce is quite consistent.
-
Hmm, Google AI addresses the burning question of General Tso's vs. Orange Chicken.
"General Tso's and Orange Chicken are distinct dishes, with the key difference being their sauce: General Tso's sauce is savory, spicy, and complex with soy, garlic, and chili, while Orange Chicken is citrus-forward, sweeter, and tangier, emphasizing orange juice, sugar, and zest. General Tso's is darker and has a slight kick, whereas Orange Chicken is typically lighter in color and milder in spice."

I'd include The Wiz on my list for the TOD.

And maybe since I already knew the songs from the Larry Kramer-Bacharach and David "Lost Horizon" by the time I first saw it, I enjoyed it. The two parts seemed not to work together, but the movie soundtrack is most enjoyable, and the screenplay by Larry Kramer (who went on to work like The Normal Heart) seems pretty well-written.
-
I even named my one-act in the Midtown International Theater festival "I Never Miss a Larry Kramer Musical."
https://music-and-comedy.blogspot.com/2014/02/info-our-opening-night-program-i-never.html
(Happily, our marvelous leading lady Jennifer Pace won the Best Actress award in a field of 25 shows in the festival.)
-
One might wonder whether had Larry Kramer had greater financial success in movies, success might have blunted the unbridled rage that made him such an important force in activism years later.
-
Well, I wonder about that, anyway.
-
Likewise, I wonder whether had Roger Ailes had greater success in his theater producing (he had a huge hit with "Hot L Baltimore" but then two very major theater producing flops in somewhat quick succession, which seemed to have driven him towards his work with Ronald Reagan), the quite injurious Fox News phenomenon might never have occurred and led us where it did lead us.
-
Even worse, that last post could have been at least three posts.
-
Interesting that Google's AI draws this line between "Lost Horizon" and "The Normal Heart"
"Larry Kramer was an influential but controversial figure, known for writing the seminal AIDS activist play "The Normal Heart" and the critically panned musical film "Lost Horizon". His work on "The Normal Heart" stemmed from his frustration with the government's response to the AIDS epidemic, while his involvement in the "Lost Horizon" musical was a financially lucrative but artistically disappointing decision that financed his activism."

I don't think it will be. She's really a good Brooklyn girl, and her husband's a retired Bronx fella.

Not sure I shared our one and only Barnes and Noble review. This woman and her daughter have reviewed almost all my books and they've written me several lovely emails over the years. They are certainly what I'd call loyal readers. It's always fun to get a nice review, but it's more fun when it's from folks you've never really met.

Supercalifragilistic Is The Perfect Description
My daughter and I love this author - we never know what to expect and we're always surprised, in a good way. We discovered him when a friend recommended his Adriana Hofstetter mysteries, which my then pre-teen daughter fell in love with. Those led us to his other books. Whether fiction or memoir, we are always delighted. We love the Harry Stearns mysteries and his Benjamin Kritzer books so much. When we read that his latest was about his friendship with one half of the Sherman Brothers we couldn't wait to get it. Who didn't grow up loving the songs from Mary Poppins and The Jungle Book and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Charlotte's Web? The portrait painted in this loving memoir is so vivid and warm that you feel that you know Richard Sherman. As Mr. Kimmel says in the book, it was impossible to meet Richard Sherman and not fall in love and that is evident on every page. The story of this unexpected friendship delighted us from start to finish.
As she always does, my daughter grabbed it first and disappeared into her room. When she emerged after finishing it, she was wiping tears away. She handed me the book and told me I had to read it immediately and I did and I was in tears by the end of it too. But it's not a sad book. It's a book about two people who were soulmates who were meant to meet. The way they met is so astonishing and one of my favorite parts of the book. We are so grateful he decided to write this book and both daughter and mom think you will love it - if you love the songs of the Sherman Brothers and especially if you've ever had a friend who was a true soulmate."

Just ordered orange chicken and kung pao chicken from the same jernt as yesterday - just really wanted it again. Cheesecake Factory is too crazy on the weekend.

Am I the only one who needs to ask who CEP & KURTSOWENS are? Thinking a few posts would jog my memory I looked at our members list to see their posts. I don't see them listed as members.
Correction, I now get who CEP is.

I'm pretty sure CEP is Mr. Pogue.

Thanks, makes sense.

Loud movers for the fellow in the back house, and driveway blocked again, so good thing I didn't want to go anywhere. Jackhammer has stopped but I know the minute I go back to bed it'll start up again.
-
BK, your description made me curious (ok, I'll admit it, intrigued) about the French onion soup burger from Shake Shack, so I had to try it.
It's an interesting combination of toppings, but I'd have to agree with you that $14.99 plus tax is a bit pricy for what you get.
-
It might be something worth duplicating at home, though.

Strange headlines on this. I know a Broadway musical may be a small matter in the scheme of everything, but hoping the many talented people associated with QUEEN OF VERSAILLES don't find their livelihoods or art affected negatively by this.

Meet Pearl Mitchell-Jackson, a Minnesota community activist and changemaker who’s been making #herstory (https://www.instagram.com/explore/tags/herstory/) for nearly a century!
She began her barrier-breaking journey as the first girl of color to join the all-white Girl Scout troop at her elementary school in St. Paul. Pearl said of this experience, "Girl Scouts made me resilient, and it made me comfortable with myself." Pearl has been involved with Girl Scouts ever since, helping lead our Movement and exemplifying courage, confidence, and character through her commitment to inclusiveness and racial understanding.
A legendary activist, retired social worker, and community leader, Pearl was the first female president of the Council of International Programs and was an active Board member of the Minnesota Museum of Art, Minnesota International Center, Macalester College World Press Institute, and the Rainbow Club. In 2022, the History Theater play “Not for Sale” honored her work against redlining and racial covenants in South St. Paul in the 1960s. Still active in the community in her 90s, Pearl continues to make history to this day ✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿

Listening to the musical version of Benjamin Button. I’m finding it pretty dreadful in that not-quite-West End sounds of the 1980s meets Britain’s Got Talent. Think musical Return of the Native.

Oh my.
Neither the mother nor the girlfriend has any redeeming social value. :) The evil writers and director terrorized us about thirty seconds in from the mother's perspective, then when the same scene came around from the girlfriend's viewpoint they nailed us again.

Skip wants to save the final episode for tomorrow to draw it out. I'm fine with that, since I'd rather not watch this show while it's dark out.

This is terrible! This is my review of RICHARD AND ME on Barnes and Noble, and it somehow registered as "one star." I can't figure out how that happened! I can't find what to do to get this fixed. Any ideas?
Highly Recommended!
I was looking forward to this book, having been a fan (for their separate work) of both Bruce Kimmel and of Richard Sherman as far back as childhood. That these two notable figures clicked with each other professionally and as friends when chance brought them together years later makes for a well-told beautiful story full of laughter and tears, with a touch of show business challenges (from others) thrown in. I recommend this book highly!
-
I know on Goodreads you can delete a record of reading the book and start over. I hope you figure this out.
-
At least it begins with "Highly recommended!" which pops out.
-
DR Fred, I found this:
"You cannot directly change the star rating on an existing Barnes & Noble review; instead, you must delete your old review and post a new one with the correct star rating. To do this, submit a deletion request to reviewmoderation@bn.com with the product title, its ISBN/EAN, and your username or email address.
Steps to Change Your Rating
1. Request Deletion:
Send an email to reviewmoderation@bn.com.
Include the Product Title, EAN/ISBN, and your email address or username in the email.
Once your review is deleted, you will be able to post a new one.
2. Post a New Review:
Go to the product's page on the Barnes & Noble website.
Click the "Write your review" button.
Select the desired star rating.
Write your review.
Click "Post Review" to submit it."

Hello, everyone, from a very stressed DR Jeanne.
This escrow is driving me nuts. The difficult seller was annoying, but some of the mortgage staff are sexist, demanding, inaccurate, and just plain make me want to scream. I have been reviewing and signing documents from them non-stop, under constant pressure. FedEx envelopes arrive every morning with more documents. Now the escrow company is doing the same. I called my broker and told him it is not humanly possible to do all these at once. He will call the escrow company and tell them to back off. It’s fortunate that much of it is done electronically because it would require all the trees on earth to make so many paper documents.

Oh no, Jeanne! Sorry for what you're going through.
-
We are technically on hold as the difficult seller is out of the country and has not provided HIS documents. I am going forward, anyway.

Thank you. We WILL get through this. But I may need a year at a spa after it’s over.

Happy Birthday to the wonderful Pearl!
Can we clone her? We need more people like her, IMHO.
-
Bruce, I’m glad you found someplace that has your extra crispy chicken — at least some of the time. It’s so hard to lose a favorite restaurant.
-
There was an article in the NYT about LA’s restaurants. Covid, of course, decimated the entire restaurant industry, but we also had the writers’ strike, and now two huge fires. It’s really taken a toll.

Vibes to all.

I loved this book, and intended to give it five stars, but I must have clicked wrong because it says one star.
Please delete the review. I'd like to resubmit it.
Thank you,
Fred Landau

I am shocked. Vibes everything improves and the process becomes easier.

Good evening.
-
Sorry, DR Jeanne. I hope it improves. It will all be worth it in the end.
-
And a year at a spa sounds lovely. :)
-
I have been feeling tired and run-down all day. Didn't do much but laundry.
-
Bed is caling me.. calling me.
-
I was kinda worried this afternoon. I tried to take a nap this afternoon. I only do that when I'm sick. Or if I have a reaction to a vaccination.
I was not able to go to sleep and I feel fine, so I guess it was a reaction to the covid shot. They don't usually do that to me any more.
-
Good night, friends.
-
And others.
-
FYI, I saw on the innerwebs that the minimum age for a covid shot may be increased to 75. So get it right away.
-
Hope things are back to normal for you very soon, DR Laura!!!

Vibes that all is OK, Laura.
-
I'm fine. It's probably just that I got up at 3 a.m. today and have been busy all day.
-
Feel better, Singdaw! Get your shot if you are eligible!
-
I think I'm ready for that anniversary party tomorrow. I've packed my car with quite a few things.
-
I also attended a party for a 100-year-old tonight. Bob has been dancing for a years now and it was great to see him do a waltz and a rumba. He also blew out the three candles on his cake (1-0-0).
-
He’s my role model.
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
Just watched The Unholy Trinity with Pierce Brosnan, Samuel L. Jackson and violence, violence, violence.
Not recommended by me, but there were one or two moments.
-
Good night, all.
-
But first …
-
Let’s ditch this page.
-
It’s all the rage …
-
It’s an unlocked cage …
-
Seven!
-
Howdy, Rupert!
-
My viewing was a documentary - more about it in the notes. Just ordered some damn clam chowder and a tiny salad for a snack. I only had the small portion of orange chicken and a tiny bit of the kung pao.
-
Waiting patiently for food to arrive. I hope the soup is extra crispy.
-
Keith got Wordle in four.
Nice!

Tonight, I went to my quasi-monthly dinner with my high school friends and we just finished a little while ago.
-
We met at 4:00 and finished around 11:30...which is actually a little early for us. ;D
-
I like a nice quasi dinner.
-
I'm sitting in my car, still in the restaurant parking lot, making sure that I posted something before the end of the day today.
-
I like a nice quasi dinner.
It was nice, and a lot of food. I ate it all!

Got another review on Amazon - I'll post it tomorrow.
