I am using a different cubicle today at the Gospel Mission than the one I normally use. This is my regular early Thursday morning shift. The person who was here before me has graciously left me a fork and a paper clip.

What am I, MacGuyver all of the sudden?        :)

Bosch.

Wasn't there a song in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang named that?

Oh, no. I guess that was "Posh."  Pre-Spice Girls.

I liked Burn Gorman in TORCHWOOD, but he didn't have a toothpick.

DR John G, aren't you just the harbinger of bad news?

I'm sorry, Elmore. Hope you have better news the rest of the day.

Thursday morning greetings!  Another puttering-at-home day for me until we leave for Montgomery Inn for Richard's birthday dinner.  It's only 3 weeks late, but he was sick on his birthday and Mary Linda was out of town for work.

Good morning, all!

How the hell did anyone talking in circles and spouting such idiocies as Paul Ryan get elected to anything?  He's on CBS THIS MORNING just now, and he left me speechless.

A Miami grad - how embarrassing.

Today is my third anniversary with USAA. What a lot of stuff has happened in the last three years. So grateful.

And I am home from another US Postal Moment: I took a Hanukkah gift - several items in an Amazon.com carton about 13x10x10 that I salvaged in our basement recyclables - to my local post office.  Because i cannot carry a large carton and a cane well, I took a taxi, which cost me $6.00.

I had no sooner put the carton on the scale of the self-service gizmo when a rather young postal clerk jumped me and said, the Post office doesn't ship cartons with Amazon.com info/artwork on them; it screws up our lasers. I asked if she had a marker so that I could cross out all the Amazon.com artwork.  she did not.

I then decided:
  1.  i had never had a problem before shipping things in Amazon cartons;
  2.  i was not going to spend another $12.00 taking the carton home, repacking everything and returning with maybe two cartons;
  3.  Perhaps she was a bitch on a power trip.

So, I bought the postage and she threw another fit insisting the carton was too large; it was not.

I then mailed the package and left. I've since sent an email to the postal service and called amazon about carton concerns.

Had no idea that Spike Lee's new movie, Chi-Raq, was a musical. Yet another take on Lysistrata. Sounds wonderful. Hope I can steal a moment next week to go see it.

I was told the same thing DR ELMORE - so I always mark out the AMAZON markings on any box I reuse.....

What's terrible is that I am sure there was a marker somewhere......

I don't see what can freak out a laser beam on the carton, a bar code perhaps, but i always remove any signs of a bar code or anything not pertaining to what I'm shipping.

Travel vibes to George!

Thanks, Fred!  Fortunately, it's only about 30 miles north of where I am, so it really shouldn't be too bad...I hope.
