Today is my dental appointment. I guess we'll see what's what.

If they do the work next week, I guess I'll be eating mashed potatoes on Thanksgiving. Along with mashed turkey and mashed pie.

Thursday morning greetings!  After 3 days and evenings of being out and about, I'm really enjoying a stay-at-home day today.  Tonight is my book group's discussion of Hillbilly Elegy, but all I have to do is drive myself and 3 others out to Lynne's and back.

Thanks. I'm sure they will just look today. Other than a couple of crowns, this will be my first icky dental work. I'm thinking I may ask about the Xanax. I wouldn't mind being all loopy, like the kids were when they had their wisdom teeth out. Maybe I will get good drugs afterwards, too.

TOD:

There are few potato dishes I don't like. Too bad potatoes don't like me -- or they like my blood sugar all too much.

That said, you can give me mashed potatoes (from simple to loaded with everything from bacon to truffle oil to blue cheese), pommes Anna, pommes au gratin, potato salad that's not sweet and, yes, McDonald's hash brown patties.

On Crete, when we went to the raki distilling party, they grilled slices of potato, which they brushed with olive oil and salted, then grilled on both sides. When the potatoes were grilled enough, they were drizzled with a little olive oil and lemon juice, plus extra salt.

The potato dish on Crete sounds delicious.

I love good mashed potatoes with butter, milk and salt.  A real treat when we are out are garlic mashed potatoes.  I haven't seen them with green onions or scallions in a long time and I don't make them any more, just too fattening.

Keith's mother, and I later, made a baked mashed potato dish.  She added sour cream when mashing them and then baked them.

I need to tidy up, do a bit of work on "Let's Not Talk About Love" before I head out to physical therapy.  I hope in this round we can resolve some of my current problems.

I obviously lifted this heavy box out of my car the wrong way last night.  I felt it a few minutes later, and by morning I was on the hunt for a position in bed that would ease it.  No such luck.  I'm in the recliner now, and will just have to let it run its course.

OUCH!  PAIN FREE VIBES!

We eat baked potatoes fairly often, without adding sour cream.  I add a little butter and then we top it with a variety of veggies, tofu, whatever we feel like that day.

Locally we eat at Beaches if we want french fries.  I don't know what they season them with but they are excellent.  For sweet potato fries we go to Lapellah.  They also make about the best artichoke/spinach dip I have ever had.  It is served with fresh cooked

The first time I had fresh cooked potato chips was at the Santa Monica Pier.  For years we enjoyed them until one day we were shocked to find the stand gone.  I have yet to experience chips like those though I continue my search.

This morning I woke up and, as usual, picked up my tablet to read.  It did not go on and nothing I did worked, including plugging it in. Keith did an on line search.  One suggestion on how to fix the problem worked.  He held both the on button and the volume button for over 14 seconds.  Why that turned it on, or why it went off to begin with, we have no idea.  I am very grateful it worked.

At least I slept until 7:45 this morning.  Had I woken up during the early morning hours I would have been very frustrated without my book to read.

thanks for the reminder about the Julie Taymor Tempest, George. I never saw that.

Quite a few years ago, Theater Artists Olympia did a production of The Tempest, and my friend pug played Prospera.  The concept was that it was set in the Star Trek universe, so they had their uniforms and a sci-fi set.  It was a sight to behold...in a good way.  But I hadn't had much exposure to Shakespeare at that time, so the story itself went a bit over my head, at the time.

Last year, I ran sound for another (more traditional) version, and being able to see it multiple times really helped me to understand it all. :)
