Off soon on a full day of hopeful fun, starting with dim sum in Austin. Then a party for my departing boss.

That may seem, odd, but it is better to be the master (or mistress) of one's own destiny than to trust oneself to the mercies of the LIRR* which tends to strand travelers between stations for hours during inclement weather

Oh my, that did seem odd, but your reasoning makes sense.

It would be the opposite for me, as I don't think we have much of those issues on the Metro North lines.  It does seem like you always hear about it on the LIRR.

Ad I'm back.  The trash has gone to the basement, and I've vacuumed.  I have the litter waiting for me.

If the driving is too treacherous I can always stop at one of the myriad hotels/motels between NYC and home

In a blinding flash of personal brilliance, I left my phone at the theater last night.  Having realized that, and having proven it by using "Find My iPhone", I also know it's sitting on the keyboard.

What I can't figure out is how in the HELL I drove all the way home without ever realizing it wasn't sitting in its usual spot in the car, and how in the HELL I went to bed without running my mental checklist about what needs overnight charging.  Now I'll be thinking about being without it on my whole trip to the theater this evening.  What did we ever do before we had these things?

Fortunately, it was fully charged last night and this large iPhone battery is such that it should barely be down from when I left it.  I expect to find it no lower than 85 to 90 percent.  But:  we'll see.

I'd rather drop the $$ on a hotel room than be trapped on a train car without heat, light and restroom facilities for hours on end

Also, you’re expected to get more snow than we are.

Snow!  But it's all on the ground.  Temperatures BELOW ZERO are predicted for the next four days.  So I shall be staying in the house.

I feel pretty good today and I hope this euphoria means the worst part of my cold is over.  Annabelle and Thatch took very good care of me.

Excellent news 😊

TOD:

The Major and the Minor
Witness for the Prosecution
Some Like It Hot
Sunset Boulevard

I like The Apartment, but Shirley MacClaine's gamine schtick and squinty eyes have always bugged me to the point of NOT enjoying her movies......

Free screeners have nothing to do with actors mumbling - I've been railing on about this for five years now, probably even more, every time I watch something new - I point out the actors doing it, I point out the ones who speak up like professionals - whether on Blu-ray, DVD, screeners or TV/cable/Netflix.

Larry if you want to browse Keith's travel photos on my fb page, feel free to be a temporary friend and then unfriend me after we are home.  I don't mind.

On one of TCM's fillers, Fred MacMurray's daughter tells the story of a woman who approached their family at Disneyland.  Her father spoke to her and answered her questions.  Then the woman slapped his face and told him she had taken her sons to see THE APARTMENT, how dare he make that movie....

After the woman left, Fred said to his wife:  "Well, it's Disney for me from now on....."

It's interesting that MacMurray AND Fred Clark shared the name Sheldrake in SB and TA......I think there was another Wilder movie with a character with that name, too.....

Remember on late night tv when the commercials used to be louder than the movie?
