Started something called Dance, Girl, Dance with a very young Maureen O'Hara and and equally young Lucille Ball. Original songs by Wright and Forest.

Sitting cozy in my recliner sipping hot tea, looking at our pretty Christmas tree and listening to the you tube videos Vixdad has found of people playing hurry gurdys and decliners and some Swedish instrument which appears to be a cross between a fiddle and an Autoharp

Not a book revue - just random songs done randomly, along with a few patriotic numbers for our veterans.

With the exception of 15 minutes of sheer panic it has been a perfect day

Finished with my viewing - watched a quirky thing on Netflix as I'm saving the Billy Wilder for tomorrow.

I feel pretty good today and I hope this euphoria means the worst part of my cold is over.  Annabelle and Thatch took very good care of me.

Great news, Larry!

In a blinding flash of personal brilliance, I left my phone at the theater last night.  Having realized that, and having proven it by using "Find My iPhone", I also know it's sitting on the keyboard.

What I can't figure out is how in the HELL I drove all the way home without ever realizing it wasn't sitting in its usual spot in the car, and how in the HELL I went to bed without running my mental checklist about what needs overnight charging.  Now I'll be thinking about being without it on my whole trip to the theater this evening.  What did we ever do before we had these things?

Fortunately, it was fully charged last night and this large iPhone battery is such that it should barely be down from when I left it.  I expect to find it no lower than 85 to 90 percent.  But:  we'll see.

AARRGGHH!!  I HATE it when that happens!  I've left my phone at work before and fortunately, I live one street over from where I work so if I really need to, I can go get it...even late at night.

And now, to bed.  I have nothing specific planned for today!  Hoo and Ray!

Have a good day, all!

Today, I didn't plan to do much of anything, but I did do a few things.  First, I went to work for a bit because I needed to send an e-mail to our newspaper carrier.  We've been missing issues of the Seattle Times.  Hopefully, we'll get replacements.

Then, I went to Costco to return a couple of items and to buy a few things.  Then, I wanted to go to Meconi's Subs for dinner (I have coupons and gift cards), but they were about to close, so I went to Subway, instead.  I had coupons and a gift card for Subway too, but the particular Subway I went to didn't take the coupon that I had. :P At least, I had the gift card.  After that, I came home and have been watching some TV.

Before I started watching TV, I wanted to find my Blu-ray copy of SCROOGE with Albert Finney.  A couple of days ago, I mentioned to my new supervisor that my family usually watches it together every year (although, we didn't this year), and she said that she had never seen that version!  WHAT?? :o I said that she MUST see it and that she can borrow my Blu-ray...but I haven't found it yet! :-\

Anyway, what I did find while looking for SCROOGE was that it turns out that I own a NTSC Region-1 copy of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone!  I bought the PAL Region-2 DVD almost two years ago, thinking that it was so cool to have the movie with the original title, but I totally forgot that I already owned it in a US release!  Who knew?  Not me.

I'd rather drop the $$ on a hotel room than be trapped on a train car without heat, light and restroom facilities for hours on end

Makes perfect sense!

We are at the incredible Chobe Lodge in Botswana.   It is the only lodge inside of Chobe National Park, home to the largest population of elephants anywhere in the world.  We must have seen 30 of them a alongside the road.

😊😊😊😊😊

That is so cool!

Regarding the mumbling, it's not just actors who are guilty of this. I find that many young people do it routinely.  The majority of people who have customer service positions or other jobs where they deal with the public a lot over the phone are younger and do NOT speak clearly. When I ask them to speak up they then YELL. No, no, no. Sometimes I'll ask them to adjust their headset. That helps. It's also a subtle reminder to them that they need to take responsibility for their side of the dialogue and I'm not just some deaf old lady.

I feel that business communications training is in order. Quite a bit, actually. Perhaps courtesy could be covered as well. Whenever I speak to someone over the phone who's courteous, business-like, and speaks clearly, I always assume they're over 40. When I meet them in person--if I do--that impression is usually proven to be correct.

I completely agree.  I have to make phone calls to our branch libraries and to businesses around the country.  I need to make sure that they can understand me.  My stage experience has really helped with my enunciation when I'm on the phone.

In the anti-miracle department, I had to sit through two crushingly awful hours of a musical revue featuring performers over sixty, like sixty is old.  The oldest performer in the show was 90.  It's a fun and even noble idea, save for the fact that this excruciatingly bad show had no structure, no point, no forward momentum, horrible staging, and performers who were probably not so hot to begin with, well... And jingoism at its most lethal.  And this was a full Equity production that cost a LOT of dough and had a four-week run.  I just bristle when I see opportunities wasted like this.

Darn.  That's too bad. :-\
