Here's last night's update on little Mego:
A beautiful day that brought beautiful news!

After a week of the most godawful heat and anxiety about Mego, this morning we got a wonderful update (and a break from the oppressive weather).  He is doing astonishingly well. At one point, the vet even used the word “phenomenal.”

Last night, the first attempt to wean him off the vasopressin did not go as planned, so this morning they tried again. As of 11 a.m. he was down to a minimal dose of vasopressin. If all goes well, by tomorrow he will be off it completely and they will start weaning him of norepinephrine, the last vasopressor.  His red blood cell levels are holding steady, not quite optimal, but almost there.  Very little fluid is draining out of his belly, and what is coming out shows no bacteria. The drains in his belly may be coming out tomorrow, too.  His blood pressure was 113 this morning, which is great!

And Mego himself is trying to say he feels better. He is more active and repeatedly tries to get on his feet. He is still weak and wobbly, but with a little support from the techs he manages to stay upright for a bit.

Wait, Dr. DiFazio is calling!   And she has even better news for this late evening update!

Mego did so well this afternoon that they weaned him off the vasopressin completely and started weaning him off the norepinephrine. His blood pressure remains stable and is right where it should be.

The drains were removed earlier than planned, because effectively nothing was coming out. Another good sign.  His red blood cells remain at a good level, not quite normal, but close.  He is less and less wobbly. He got up and went straight for his food tonight.  And best of all, and the most tangible sign of his improvement, he made his way to the litterbox for the first time and peed. That was HUGE.

“I’m really thrilled!” Dr. Difazio said, and it sounded like she meant it. Thrilled is an understatement for how we are feeling, though!

We’d like to thank Dr. Jillian Difazio and the entire ICU team at VERG Brooklyn for the care they are giving Mego. And a big thank you, too, to Onika and Dee and all the front desk staff who have taken our many calls with such patience and have always made sure to get pictures to us.

He meowed for his picture tonight. He is such a sweet boy.

Amazing!

Yesterday, I went Legally Blonde prop shopping!  I got almost $30 of stuff from the local Dollar Tree, then I got a few things from a couple of other places.  I ran into my friend Marsha at Fred Meyer and she said that I could borrow her laptop that she never uses!  I still need to find out how many they'll need.  Hopefully, not too many.

Speaking of the Dollar Tree.....

Keith put up a scathing review of the strange hotel we stayed at in Detroit, the one with the concrete flow and large ugly tub in the room.  He mentioned the decor of Dollar Store furniture and they responded with a thank you for the review ;D

Yikes!  Obviously, they just see if any review is posted. ::)

Thatch is stoned on catnip, and I have sent ten more agent submissions.
Best of luck, Elmore.

~~~Ditto (about the agent submissions)!!~~~
The chili is finished, and when it cools, I will freeze it.  I did 16 agent submissions, so I feel quite good about the day.
That's great, Larry!
Very sluggish here today, site-wise.  Have let them know.
I had some problems just a few minutes ago.  I thought it might be my tablet or my own wi-fi.
Ha!
The "closet" was a plastic rack to hang clothes on.  It wouldn't have been so bad had they provided more than 2 hangers.
That's not good at all!
Right now, I'm watching episode 4 of the first season of The Expanse.  I got the DVD set from the library.
After I'm done with that, my friend Margo and I are going to see Ant-Man and the Wasp in IMAX 3D.
So, I liked WAITRESS more than Richard did, which was exactly what I expected.  We taxied from the theatre to one of our favorite restaurants, La Bonne Soupe, for our "farewell to New York" dinner.  Nice walk home down 6th Avenue and we're in for the night.  I'm as packed as I can be the night before.
Had you seen the movie? I really liked the movie. And was John Cullum still in the show?
Yes, I'd seen the movie, but Richard had not.  His objection was the portrayal of all the men as jerks.  No John Cullum...
Well, my show is done and my laundry is done, so now I must get ready to go to the movies and a late dinner.
Until later!
From the wonderful Wonderstruck to an oddity among oddities. I'm now watching The Road Movie, a documentary of images taken from the dashboards of cars driving through Belarus. There's lot of snow and ice, not to mention cursing and an amazing amount of accidents, which some of the cameras just stop for and keep running. It's like a documentary of rubbernecking (which I loathe), among other things.
Oh my.
I would put up images of the room from the internet but they look too good.
Site sluggishness was attended to instantly, so that's good.  I hate sluggishness, and yet I, myself, am feeling quite sluggish at this time.
Had two In 'n' Out burgers for my meal o' the day and didn't have the fries, so that's just under 1000 calories.
Spongebob is closing on Broadway. I wonder how much money is headed to the bottom of the sea with that venture.
