The coming week:

That person who's making big demands on your time? They need a wake-up call. Be nice about it, and make sure they understand that you love and adore them, but be direct. All week you'll be getting things done this way -- with polish, but not a lot of fuss. Such are the tactics a busy person like you must adopt. Make sure your desk (or car, or house) is clean and tidy on Thursday (or you won't be able to think straight) and then, on Friday and through the weekend, brace yourself for a series of deep and meaningful adventures with your greatest pal (or lover). This is quite a week for you.

TOD:
I can't think of any good stories right now, although I'm sure I have some. But just last night, I was reprimanding Mark for going to Langers for their famous pastrami several times without me and not bringing me home a sandwich. He insists it would be terrible as leftovers. The bread would be soggy, etc. I keep saying I could get a new roll, or he could separate the sandwich for me and still bring it home, and I could nuke the whole thing, and it would be fine. He gets grossed out every time I describe the process.

I haven’t seen The Holiday. I was curious but less so after the notes.

As a reformed food critic, I have plenty of horror stories that could fill pages here. I’ll limit this post to my first week on the job, when I wondered if I had made the right move.

The first restaurant was an oversized Mexican place near the hotel. The chili sauce on the cheese enchiladas might have been dirty dish water that served only to make the enchiladas soggy. The margarita was so sweet it made me gag. The salsa with the chips was flavorless red water. Worst of all were the ref rides, which were so boiling hot that they burned my tongue. Imagine something microwaved with metal in it. And in an hour, they never cooled down.

Then, a few days later, there was an Italian place on the River Walk where the smoked chicken tasted like I was licking an ash tray while the tiramisu was frozen solid at the center. Almost 20 years later, I can still taste that chicken.

In 1978, four young people working in a Burger Chef fast food restaurant in Speedway were kidnapped....and all of them were found murdered in a nearby county.

NO arrests or leads have EVER been found.  A new detective is on the case and now trying to work with DNA found at the scene, etc.

And of course, the two young girls whose bodies were found a few days after they disappeared near Delphi, Indiana, in February, 2017, no clues, no suspects.....

Jane, wishing you a restful, refreshing sleep with beautiful dreams.

Thank you.  I eventually fell asleep and slept until the alarm woke me at 7:30.

Bruce, sounds like you need to learn how to cook simple, healthy food to keep from future debacles.

Try making your own frozen dinners.

Mac and cheese goes well from the freezer to the microwave, for thawing, then into the oven for cooking.  Just add vegetables, salad, or whatever.
