I'm sorry to say I didn't get to the Chinese for STAR WARS because that would truly have been memorable. One reason is that I'd been living in my Beverly Hills apartment for a couple of years, and for a while I was more in the habit of going to Westwood or Century City for first run films.
I ended up seeing it at the Plitt in Century City, and probably after its first few weeks. I wasn't in that first wave of audiences because I just wasn't all that excited about that kind of film. I did enjoy it, but it was then a one-time thing for me. Oddly, what I most remembered about it was the then-new and highly touted Dolby sound -- which I simply took to mean noise reduction because that's what the name Dolby meant to me then. But it was more likely the introduction of Dolby surround. After all of these years I'm still unclear on that.
Anyway, I *now* enjoy and appreciate the original trilogy. Several years ago I somehow or other figured out how to find and download the fan-edited bootlegs preserving the original versions in HD. I hear those have even been bettered since then, but it's not like I ever watch them much. I do enjoy having them here if someone else wants to see them, because they certainly do impress.
