I found adding Dawn to the water & baking soda worked better. I wasn't sure if you had any dawn. I don't have ketchup and have never tried it. Oh, and did the method include boiling the water vs simply washing the pan?

Speaking of ketchup, has anyone ever used it to clean off grease that has been baked on pans?

Ummm no. Try boiling water in the pan with baking soda.

I read a story where they tried 16 methods of cleaning baked-on grease. Ketchup was the most effective, then baking soda, salt and vinegar together. Baking soda by itself or with boiling water were not as effective. I've got lots of old pans to clean.

I haven't tried this, but I have a pizza pan that I need to clean, too.

Joy is moving to a new house, and she's dumping a lot of mis en place pans from her restaurant. They're metal, in good shape, but just a little, well, used or well-used. I can get good use out of them, but I have to clean them first. I'm actually thinking of buying ketchup tomorrow. Apparently the acid in the tomato juice is what causes it to work.
