I think the only news I have to report is that it SNOWED in the late afternoon and early evening yesterday.

SNOWED. On the ninth day of the lusty month of May.

Just one squall passing over, but there were dozens of these all across NY state and New England. Not too far north of us they got a thin but complete covering of the stuff. Ours was like large sleet or small hail, but the pellets were white, and during the few minutes the squall was over us it was a regular whiteout.

And yes, I have the photographic evidence.

I feel your pain. I moved out of New York after it snowed in June one year. Too depressing.

Our "styrofoam" snow pellets are gone now, I think. The real aggravation in my area is the continued cold temperatures. We've been down to freezing last several nights, and our daytime temps won't get above the high 50s until next weekend.

What's even more frightening is there were much worse mothers on both sides of my family, my dad's sister-in-law Dorothy being the absolute worst!

That is very sad.  Thank goodness for your grandmother.   I never had a grandmother.

I finished kitty cleanup and took the laundry to the basement.  When I got back to the apartment, Annabelle dashed into the hall as soon as I opened the door.  While trying to get her back inside, Stella got out, and I had two cats frolicking in two different parts of the third floor.  I apprehended Stella, and, carrying her, chased Annabelle to the apartment door.  Both are inside now and chasing each other about the apartment.  I suffer from Excessive Romping Kitty (ERK) syndrome.

Well, I just received my first food delivery, and I think I may cancel further ones  What I got were packaged meals for the next three days: nine plastic trays containing three breakfasts, lunches, and dinners, primarily salads and fruit - an apple for lunch, an orange fpor dinner - although the breakfasts also included small packs of Lays potato chips!  According to the label, I received the "C' package, so I wonder what A and B got?

The laundry is finished!  As I was heading to the basement to cart down the food carton and pick up the laundry, Annabelle escaped and played "Chase Me" as she ran to the fourth floor.  As soon as she got to the fourth floor, she started yelling her bloody head off,  I took the elevator and found her scratching at the door to 4C, directly above us, and squalling.  I picked her up and rode back down to three with her.

I've been wondering about Annabelle a lot lately.  She's so affectionate and loving that I still wonder how she ended up at the Brooklyn Animal Care Center.  As soon as I lie down on the bed to rest my legs, she climbs into my lap and settles there for the duration.  I am so lucky I have her, but I worry that someone else misses her as much as I would if I lost her.

Mother's Day greetings!  We've finished church with the congregation in Beavercreek, via Zoom.  Fr. Richard had been scheduled there every Sunday in May long before we locked down.  They announced today that they have a strong candidate for rector, so maybe Richard will be able to retire - again.

Starting to watch The Roman Spring of Mrs. Stone. It's very much of its time. I doubt that a movie about a woman made today would have a male narrator, unless that becomes part of the story later.

Also interesting, when the narrator announces that an area of Rose was know for its assignations, the first image shown is of two men getting together.

DR JohnG, I forgot to answer your question about Lacenaire.  I haven't seen The Elegant Criminal since the mid- to late-1990s, so my memory on the movie's content is really poor.  I have a memory that he's either gay or has a gay accomplice.
