Today, I went to my parents's house to help my mom with some things around her house.  First, I drove my dad's car and followed my mom to Les Schwab to see if they could replace a tire that was damaged beyond repair.  Only one was damaged, but we knew that they had to be purchased in pairs.

That particular store didn't have the correct size in stock, but the downtown store did.  We went to Costco first because they were right across the street but they didn't even carry that size, so we drove both cars down to Discount Tires (which was closer than the downtown Les Schwab), but they were so busy that my mom said that we'd try again next week.  Fine with me.  That's when I went to Jersey Mike's to get something before I went back to my parents' house.

I brought a set of wrenches to my parents's house so that I could take apart a really old and broken office chair that my mom wanted to get rid of.  I ate the aforementioned Jersey Mike's sandwich and then started taking apart the chair.

But while taking it apart, the only wrench that I had that fit the bolt slipped out of my hand and fell between the boards of their deck! :o There was no way to go under the deck, but at least I could see it.  It took quite a few tries, but we eventually bent a wire coat hanger and got it out.  Whew!!  I was very happy that I didn't have to the store to buy a new wrench!

It really was NOT a simple process to get the wrench out from under the deck.  I just didn't want to go into every little detail, and I'm sure that no one else wants to read every little detail.

But if you did...too bad. ;)

After that, I cut down a few branches of a tall plant that my mom couldn't reach.  Then, a couple of mom's friends came over and we all and my dad played Phase 10.  I won the first game!  My mom won the second game.  After that, I came home, fed my cat, and here we are. :)

JC Penney has filed for bankruptcy. Not a surprise but still sad.

Oh, no. :-\

We've had a very nice day, as quarantine days go.  We started watching Yentl while we were having lunch, then took a break for Richard to work on Sunday's sermon and for me to bake cookies, then finished the movie.  For my baking I used the 47-year-old hand mixer that my mother got with trading stamps for my first apartment and decided,  "Enough!"

So, I sat down and ordered a spiffy Kitchen Aid stand mixer from Bed, Bath, and Beyond.  It's something I've wanted for a long, long time and it should be here in a week.

Cool!  My sister has a Kitchen Aid and loves it.

John G, thanks for the Rhubread recipe.  I'll have to try it

Today, one of my mom's friends brought a strawberry-rhubarb pie for dessert...not my favorite. ::) But it wasn't bad.

Yesterday I started coming out of my grief funk.  Today was even better.  I think all the diet coke helped

Good news at being less funky.

I am so looking forward to the next week.  As I told my brother, I'm going to do the college student attitude, a little work here and there and the rest of the time do whatever I want to.  Sort of a modified vacation.  I have a couple clients in jail freaking out about the virus, so I really can't just say "Oh wait another week or two".  I'll do what I can to get them out

Good luck to your clients!

George, tonight I finally got around to watching the Much Ado About Nothing you sent me. Wonderful stuff.

That's great!  That reminds me that I still have a DVD to make for Vixmom! :-\

He has announced he will quarantine himself in his office, it has a private entrance and its own bathroom.

Good luck with that! :o

Wow, I can't believe the hand mixer still works.

Yup...things used to be built to really last, now it's built-in obsolescence. :P
